On October 28, 1970, San Francisco recorded the Fillmore West performance with a high-quality audience recording for 1 hour and 48 minutes. It is said that the cassette tape recording at that time was the master, but I was overwhelmed by the incredible clarity and freshness of the sound. There is no sound cage or hiss noise. You can enjoy the whole picture of the show with a stable and very easy-to-listen sound. On the opening track, after band tuning, you can hear Bill Graham’s introduction to “Small Faces.” Although the song order is slightly different from the Santa Monica performance on the press board as a set, it is almost the same, unlike Santa Monica that can be heard on this LP and the newly discovered second half tape, it is a single master (partially) You can listen to all of the show at once (without the tape change cut) with almost no defects. Rod’s stunning singing, effective chorus work, sticky Ron’s guitar, Ian’s keyboard with a strong presence, and a heavy and unique groove that can only be reproduced by Faces of this era. You can fully enjoy the full performance. It is said that the original cassette master was saved on reel tape, and this time it was directly digitized, but if you touch this outstanding sound, it is also convincing. To enjoy the fulfillment of the Faces stage in the latter half of the 1970s, this is the best quality and quantity. Originally, it is a masterpiece title that is suitable for release on a press CD.

1970年10月28日、サンフランシスコはフィルモア・ウェスト公演を高音質オーディエンス録音で1時間48分に渡って収録。当時のカセットテープ録音がマスターとのことですが、信じられない程の音のクリアーさ、鮮度の良さに圧倒されます。音の籠りやヒスノイズは一切なし。安定した非常に聴きやすいサウンドで、ショウの全貌を楽しむことが出来ます。オープニングトラックでは、バンド・チューニングの後、ビル・グレアムの「Small Faces」という紹介の言葉を聴くことが出来ます。セット的にはプレス盤のサンタモニカ公演と曲順が多少入れ替わっているとは言え、ほぼ同じで、こちらLPや新発見の後半テープで聴けるサンタモニカと違い、単一マスターで（部分的になテープチェンジカットを抜きにすれば）ショウの全てをほぼ欠損無しに一気に聴き切ることができます。ロッドの見事な歌唱、効果的なコーラスワーク、粘り気のあるロンのギター、存在感抜群のプレイを聴かせるイアンのキーボードと、この時代のフェイセズでなければ再現できないへヴィでいて独特のグルーブ感に満ちた演奏をじっくり、たっぷり楽しむことが出来ます。オリジナル・カセット・マスターをリールテープに保存し、今回、それをダイレクトにデジタル化したとのことですが、この鮮度抜群のサウンドに触れれば、それも納得とも言うもの。1970年後半のフェイセズのステージの充実ぶりを楽しむには、質・量的に、これ以上は無い程の1枚。本来ならプレスCDでのリリースが相応しい傑作タイトルです。
