これが現在までに発表されている2016年の日程で、すべて北米公演です。１月の３公演を除くと、約15公演ライヴを行っては半月休むペースを続けています。本作は、その中から「2016年８月27日メアリーランド・ハイツ公演」を収めたオーディエンス・アルバムです。本作は、前回ご紹介した『BANGOR 2016（Shades 661）』から約２カ月になるわけですが、ここまで間が開いたのは音源事情によるもの。その間にもオーディエンス録音は届いていたのですが、なかなかご紹介に値する録音に恵まれなかった。本作は、久々にそのクオリティに到達したライヴアルバムなのです。
そんな本作のクオリティは、待っただけの価値がある素晴らしさ。いや、むしろ“２カ月の時間を吹っ飛ばす”極上ぶりです。いわゆる「まるでサウンドボード」と呼ばなければウソになってしまうクリアさ。現場となった“コムキャスト・センター”は、２万人弱の野外会場なのですが、残響ゼロの野外の旨みが理想的に捉えられており、骨太な楽音がダイレクト感たっぷりに耳に流し込まれるのです。その上で、微妙なオーディエンス感覚も美味しい。距離感はほぼゼロなのに、なぜか空間は感じられる。ボリュームは小さいけれど広大な熱狂がなせる業か、見事なトータル・バランスのせいか、クリアながら生音そのものとはちょっと違う音色のせいか。ともかく、野外会場のそよ風を肌に感じながらDEF LEPPARDの名曲群を浴びる体験ができるのです。
そのクオリティで真空パックされたショウがまた、なんとも素晴らしい。半月休みながらのスケジュールに無理がないせいか2015年よりも明らかに調子が良く、久々の新作も好評なムードをたっぷりと味わう感じが素晴らしい。これまでレポートしてきたライヴアルバムと同様グレイテスト・ヒッツなセットリストですが、そこに新たなシングル曲「Man Enough」を追加している。その新曲への反応も楽しむかのような余裕のショウ。正直言えば、30年前のようなひたむきさは減退していますが、ジョー・エリオットも現在57歳なのですから当たり前と言えば当たり前。むしろ、横綱相撲のように堂々とした大物っぷりが嬉しくなってしまうライヴアルバムなのです。
