Among the masterpieces released by the ZION label, Linda Ronstadt’s “LAY DOWN BESIDE ME” is one that has an interesting fate. As you can see from the catalog number “ZION-016”, it is one of the earliest labels released in 2006. Even more remarkable is the incredible sound quality. Far from being an “on sound image”, it is a superb sound source that can be called a sound board completely, yet the freshness of the recording is also an extraordinarily high level. In 2006, it was highly acclaimed in specialized magazines, and above all, it was highly evaluated by Linda enthusiasts. However, it was not a classic rock artist or band’s sound source, so it was a so-called “hidden bestseller” item, no matter how outstanding the sound quality was.
However, the situation for this title changed completely last year. A year ago, “LOS ANGELES 1977 MIKE MILLARD 1ST GEN”, which can be said to be a trailer of the excavation rush of Mike Millard sound source that continues to the present, was released. Of course, it is still a bestseller because it is a mirrored recording, but when it was released, when I re-pushed “LAY DOWN BESIDE ME” as “a marvelous audience that exceeds the mirrored sound source”, rumors called for rumors. It is said that the “hidden bestseller” was promoted to the “big bestseller” at once, and eventually it became Sold Out.
Among the items released by the ZION label, more than 10 years have passed since the release, and this is the first item that suddenly sold out with such a pattern. Ironically, the appearance of a “comparison target” with a major taper called a mirrored sound source has re-evaluated the awesomeness of this sound source.

In fact, “LOS ANGELES 1977 MIKE MILLARD 1ST GEN” has a wonderful sound quality, but the sound image is even closer than that, and the freshness and clearness that seems to have been recorded today are certainly mirrored. A miracle recording that surpassed the sound source with a margin. In other words, there is no “vintage feeling” that is typical of 70’s sound sources. A perfect balance that perfectly combines the advantages of both the proximity of soundboard recording and the presence of audience recording. I’m really impressed that the ultimate audience recording was left so far in 1976.
In this way, “LAY DOWN BESIDE ME” has exploded in popularity since its release in 2006, but since it suddenly became Sold Out from the previous situation, it is now a very popular item that the voice of recurrence can not stop. It has also become. Of course, with such a prominent recording, it should be a standard item that will always be available after recurrence. Therefore, the popular edition from last year has been re-appeared in response to everyone’s request.

At the time of release in 2006, the sound source was made into a press CD as it was without adding any equalization due to its high sound quality and stability, but nearly 15 years have passed since then and technology Is evolving. For this re-release, we’ve made a few tweaks to this perfect recording. That is to alleviate the sound of the bass drum that was ringing with a hard texture on the stage of the day. Especially in the songs at the beginning of the live, the hard sound was remarkable, so suppressing this made it more comfortable to listen to. It’s noticeable around “That’ll Be The Day” and “Willin'”, and I wonder if you can tell the difference even more by listening with headphones.
Even so, this recording is really amazing. Linda’s singing voice is completely soundboard level, so if it’s a song with a small number of sounds in a band such as the timeless masterpiece “Desperado”, you can even hear her breathing. Even so, the outline of the performance is perfect, and even the scene where Waddy Wachtel’s guitar emits a mistone while admiring the beginning of the live can be heard clearly. In addition, the atmosphere of Boston on the day is vividly transmitted. Isn’t it impossible to reproduce even the official one anymore? The ultimate live record of Linda’s heyday. The long-awaited recurrence of Ultra Recording, which can be confidently recommended as an introduction to audience recording for all music fans as well as enthusiasts!

Linda Ronstadt in 1976, who made “HASTEN DOWN THE WIND” a hit and was in the heyday of the 70’s. A masterpiece video title that depicts the shining appearance with superb multi-camera pro shots is now available on a bonus disc. This work was filmed in “November 16, 1976 Offenbach performance”. It is the best professional shot when appearing in the famous West German program “ROCKPALAST”. Speaking of 1976, “GREATEST HITS” was a big hit after “HASTEN DOWN THE WIND”. First of all, let’s imagine the position of the show in the schedule.

《August release of “HASTEN DOWN THE WIND”》
・ July 14-September 16: North America
・ November 3: Universal City performance
・ November 10-24: Europe ← ★ Coco ★
“December” GREATEST HITS “released”
・ November 29-December 19: North America ★ Main story Boston performance (★ 3 weeks later live)

This is the flow of 1976. The number of performances is not strict because there are some vague points in the records at that time, but I think you can understand the general flow. As you can see, the Offenbach performance of this work is also the final version of “HASTEN DOWN THE WIND TOUR”, and at the same time, just before the release of “GREATEST HITS”. It was an early show on the European tour.
This work is an extremely wonderful professional shot. Although it’s a big classic program, it’s a pinch in the 70’s, but this work is a pin. It’s also a crazy guy. Naturally, shooting will be analog, but the beauty of the image is vivid to the modern eyes of the digital heyday. The master freshness is outstanding, no dubbing marks or deterioration over time are felt, and the coloring is natural yet vivid. That’s why it was digitized from the Omoto Master without any analog process … It’s so fresh that it preserves the scene of that time. It’s a high-quality video that should be permanently preserved and pressed …. Actually, it was actually introduced as a press DVD “WHEN WILL I BE LOVED”. This time, it has been specially made into a gift DVDR, and it is a cultural heritage-class image that is naturally extremely preserved permanently.
The show drawn with the beauty of the image is the heyday of shining Linda. The set is Zubari, “HASTEN DOWN THE WIND” + “GREATEST HITS”. This program was performed between the two releases, and 8 out of 12 songs from “HASTEN DOWN THE WIND” and 9 out of 12 songs from “GREATEST HITS” were selected. Of course, most of them are also chart-filled hits, with plenty of the best songs you can hope for in 1976. It is literally a “moving best compilation album” and a “greatest hits album that you can see with your eyes.”
And Linda singing such a group of famous songs is beautiful! At that time she was just 30 years old. The skin exposed from the bold white off-shoulder is pearly smooth, and the shining health beauty is dazzling. More than that, of course, is the singing voice. Youthful but not green, the voice is plentiful and the sound is lustrous. Whether you whisper gently or sing loosely, it’s cute and dignified at the same time. At that time, I was blessed with commerce, but I can see that he was also a singer.

It is no exaggeration to say that it is a professional shot that is a video version and a live performance version of “GREATEST HITS” which became Linda’s biggest hit. There are a number of soundboards from this period, but no other video has been completely recorded in high quality so far. A masterpiece of cultural heritage class that is truly the ultimate. Please take this opportunity to fully enjoy the evening soaked in beautiful voices and famous songs.

『HASTEN DOWN THE WIND』をヒットさせ、70年代の全盛期にあった1976年のリンダ・ロンシュタット。 1976年と言えば、『HASTEN DOWN THE WIND』に次いで『GREATEST HITS』も大ヒットした年。

《8月『HASTEN DOWN THE WIND』発売》

DVD『WHEN WILL I BE LOVED』としてもご紹介したこともあるもの。
セットはズバリ、『HASTEN DOWN THE WIND』+『GREATEST HITS』。
