The “INSPIRATION Japan Tour” has produced a string of superb recordings for more than a quarter of a century. A 3-disc set that will be the final blow even in the masterpiece of peerless beauty sisters is now available.
“November 6, 1996: Nakano Sun Plaza Performance” is included in this work. It is an audience set with the best full recording on DISC 1-2 and a superb view shot on DISC 3. Speaking of coming to Japan in the “INSPIRATION” era, it is the first visit to Japan with the best singer: Mark Balls, and we have archived many masterpieces at our store. This week, the press new masterpiece “TOKYO 1996 FINAL NIGHT DAT MASTER (Zodiac 567)” will also appear. What will be the position of this work in such a situation? The main part of this work recorded at such a show is the finest full recording (DISC 1-2)! It is a new excavation DT master brought on the same route as the two press masterpieces “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT (Zodiac 539)” / “Same FINAL NIGHT” that permanently preserved the before and after shows, but this is already the best press-class recording. That’s it. I would like to introduce from the Shades label, but the reason why it became a CD-R release is that it was excavated at the same time as FINAL NIGHT. “FINAL NIGHT” is a masterpiece that is too intense, or if you want to press it, you have to give it up … it’s just that. In fact, the sound of this work is in line with the previously pressed “TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT” … No, it even wins in a sense.
When it comes to the point that makes this work stand out, it’s ferociously turned on and has a very thick core. It’s Yngwie’s show, so naturally the guitar sound is powerful, but the vocals are just amazing. There is no sense of distance at all, there is no pressure on the guitar, and even the subtleties of the overwhelming vibrato feel close to your ears. Clearness, dynamism, transparency of sound, etc., made it a Shades label, but as far as the vocal sound is concerned, it is the No. 1 recording even holding down the press masterpieces “1ST NIGHT” and “FINAL NIGHT”.
Of course, it doesn’t just specialize in vocals. The instrumental group is also full of direct feeling, and the separate feeling is preeminent. Even in total, it is no wonder that there are people who say “It is definitely better than press 2 titles”. [DISC 3: Synchronized video version of the finest new recordings] “A wonderful newly discovered DAT master.” In this work, we also set a video version that makes the most of its charm. It is a distant view audience shot that is familiar to enthusiastic collectors as bonus titles, but this work synchronizes the sound of the new recording (DISC 1-2). I upgraded it greatly and bundled it.
“Its power is exceptional.” Although the bold zoom that makes it a close-up shot of the superb view without obstructions and the bust-up of Mark was wonderful, the sound was not good. It was not good enough in terms of sound quality, and above all, there was something difficult to do about the instability of sound cutout / sound dropout. However, this time, such shortcomings are completely wiped out. You can immerse yourself in the sight of the neo-classical heroes “Mark & Yngwie” lined up. Of course, I feel like the sound has gotten too good this time (wry smile), but it’s an upgrade that makes me feel like it’s over-engineered.
Anyway, DISC 1-2 with superb sound is shocking. Again, if “TOKYO 1996 FINAL NIGHT DAT MASTER” was not excavated at the same time, it would be a masterpiece without a press mistake. You can listen to / watch the delicious full show of “You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget” and “Rising Force” that you couldn’t hear in “1ST NIGHT” with such a superb sound.
The “INSPIRATION Japan Tour”, which had been a barren area for sound sources for a quarter of a century, turned into a super-fertile area that was out of order. Even in the new excavation DAT series that can only be called “the four beautiful sisters of the world”, it is a 3-disc set that stands out for its taste of video and vocal sound. If it becomes Mark & Yngwie’s masterpiece, it will be a new press “TOKYO 1996 FINAL NIGHT DAT MASTER”, but if it becomes “another one”, this work is the best. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content!

そんな本作に収められているのは「1996年11月６日：中野サンプラザ公演」。その極上フル録音をDISC 1-2に、絶景ショットをDISC 3に配したオーディエンス・セットです。『INSPIRATION』時代の来日と言えばベスト・シンガー：マーク・ボールズを従えての初来日であり、当店でも数々の名作でアーカイヴ。今週はプレス新名盤『TOKYO 1996 FINAL NIGHT DAT MASTER（Zodiac 567）』も登場します。そんな中で本作のポジションはいかなるものになるのか。早速、日程でコレクションを整理してみましょう。

【DISC 1-2：プレス名盤の姉妹作となる極上フル録音】
以上、全５公演。東名阪をコンパクトに巡っており、東京では２会場・３日間でした。本作は中野サンプラザの初日であり、東京中日でもありました。
そんなショウで記録された本作のメインは、何と言っても極上のフル録音（DISC 1-2）！ 前後のショウを永久保存した２つのプレス名盤『TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT（Zodiac 539）』／『同 FINAL NIGHT』と同じルートでもたらされた新発掘DTマスターなのですが、これがもうプレス級の極上録音なのです。Shadesレーベルからご紹介しておいて何ですが、CD-Rリリースとなった要因は「FINAL NIGHTと同時発掘だった」という１点に尽きる。『FINAL NIGHT』があまりにも強烈な最高傑作であり、それかプレス化するなら譲らざるを得ない……というだけなのです。実際、本作のサウンドは先にプレス化された『TOKYO 1996 1ST NIGHT』と並ぶ……いや、ある意味で勝ってさえいるのです。
本作に軍配が上がるポイントと言えば、猛烈にオンで極太な芯。イングヴェイのショウですからギター・サウンドが強力なのは当然として、それに負けないヴォーカルがとにかく素晴らしい。距離感がまったくなく、ギターにも気圧されず、圧倒的なヴィヴラートの機微の機微まで耳元感覚。クリアさやダイナミズム、鳴りの透明感など、総合判断してShadesレーベルとはなりましたが、ヴォーカル・サウンドに限ればプレス名盤『1ST NIGHT』『FINAL NIGHT』さえ押さえてのNo.1録音です。
もちろん、ヴォーカルだけに特化しているわけでもない。器楽群もダイレクト感たっぷりですし、セパレート感バツグン。トータルでも「プレス２タイトルより断然良いじゃん」という方がいてもまったく不思議ではないのです。
【DISC 3：極上の新録音をシンクロさせた映像篇】
あまりにも素晴らしい新発掘DATマスター。本作には、その魅力を最大限に活かす映像篇もセットしました。熱心なコレクター諸兄にはボーナス・タイトル等でもお馴染みの遠景オーディエンス・ショットなのですが、本作は新録音（DISC 1-2）の音声をシンクロ。大幅アップグレードさせて同梱致しました。
その威力は格別。以前から遮蔽物なしの絶景やマークのバスト・アップまで大写しになる果敢なズームが素晴らしかったものの、音声は芳しくなかった。音質的にも今ひとつでしたし、何より音切れ／音落ちの不安定感も如何ともし難いものがありました。ところが、今回はそんな欠点が完全一掃。ネオクラシカルの英雄「マーク＆イングヴェイ」が並び立つ光景に浸りきれるのです。もっとも、今度は音が良くなりすぎちゃった感もあります（苦笑）が、そんなオーバースペック感さえ漂うほどのアップグレードなのです。
とにもかくにも、極上サウンドのDISC 1-2が衝撃的。繰り返しになりますが、『TOKYO 1996 FINAL NIGHT DAT MASTER』さえ同時発掘でなかったらプレス化間違いナシの大傑作です。それほどの極上サウンドで『1ST NIGHT』で聴けなかった「You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget」「Rising Force」も美味しいフルショウを聴き込み／観ることができるのです。
四半世紀にわたって音源不毛地帯だったのに、一転してズバラ抜けた超・豊作地帯に化けてしまった“INSPIRATION Japan Tour”。まさに「絶世の４美姉妹」と呼ぶしかない新発掘DATシリーズでも、映像の旨みとヴォーカル・サウンドで特出した３枚組です。マーク＆イングヴェイの最高傑作となれば新プレス『TOKYO 1996 FINAL NIGHT DAT MASTER』とはなりますが、「もう１本」となったら本作こそがイチオシ。どうぞ、併せてお腹いっぱいお楽しみください！
