Absolute virtuoso Mike Millard who loved YES music. The 8-person YES edition, which will be the final chapter of the master collection, is newly discovered. It is a release decision with permanent preservation press 3CD.
“Performance at Inglewood on May 15, 1991” is imbued in this work. It is a superb audience recording recorded at the main battlefield “The Forum” which should be called Millard’s garden. Some say that Millard didn’t like recording the same band over and over again, and contrary to that anecdote, he recorded his favorite bands carefully over and over again. ZEP and Stones are famous, but I also like progressive rock, and the GENESIS family and YES also left a lot of masterpieces. Especially in terms of “recording various tours”, YES is the most. Eight tours including ABWH have been recorded, and the final chapter of this work is the 1991 “UNION Tour”. Of course, we have archived each one as a live album at our shop. It’s also a good opportunity, so let’s take a look at Millard’s YES collection.

The above are the 10 works from the 1974 “TALES FROM TOPOGRAPHIC OCEANS Tour” to the 1991 eight members. Millard didn’t seem to be interested in the pop “90125 YES”, but when it comes to symphonic prog tours, it’s easy to see that he was a frequent visitor. “L.A. FORUM 1977 1ST NIGHT” was degraded by the cassette master itself, so ABWH’s “LOS ANGELES 1989 (Amity 636)” was not the original but the 1st Gene Master, so it was not permanently preserved. , The other eight works have been made into presses.
This work, which will be the final chapter of such a collection, is truly superb. Because it is the original master of Mirrored, even the super-superb is natural, but after all, amazing things are amazing. Do you say that you can lose the energy to say “the core is ○○” and “the hall sounds are ◇◇”? Even if it is mixed with the genuine official “UNION LIVE” and played back, “Is the mix balance slightly different?” The applause between songs and the elongation of vocals are sucked in by a very small amount of audience-likeness, but even that is a divine pouring feeling, and it does not become cloudy or a sense of distance at all.
Perhaps, in addition to Millard’s technology, there was also the era of “1991”. It is hard to say whether there was any change in Millard’s method after returning from hiatus, but the world was definitely changing. The on-site PA has evolved dramatically, and this work has accurately captured the beauty of its sound output.

そんな本作に吹き込まれているのは「1991年５月15日イングルウッド公演」。ミラードの庭とも言うべき主戦場“ザ・フォーラム”で記録された超極上オーディエンス録音です。ミラードは同じバンドを繰り返し録音するのを好まなかったとも言われる一方、その逸話に反するようにお気に入りバンドは何度も入念に録音していました。ZEPやストーンズが有名ですが、プログレも好んでおり、GENESISファミリーやYESも名作を大量に残しました。特に「いろんなツアーを録音した」という意味においては、YESこそが最多。ABWHも含めて８つものツアーを記録しており、本作はその最終章となるのが1991年の“UNION Tour”なのです。もちろん、当店では逐一ライヴアルバムとしてアーカイヴしてきました。良い機会でもありますので、ミラードのYESコレクションを一望してみましょう。

以上、1974年の“TALES FROM TOPOGRAPHIC OCEANS Tour”から1991年の８人までの10作品。ミラードはポップな”90125 YES”に興味がなかったようですが、シンフォニックなプログレ・ツアーとなると足繁く通っていたことがよく分かる。『L.A. FORUM 1977 1ST NIGHT』はカセット・マスター自体が劣化していたため、ABWHの『LOS ANGELES 1989（Amity 636）』は大元ではなく1stジェネ・マスターなために永久保存とはなりませんでしたが、それ以外の８作品はプレス化が実現しているのです。
そんなコレクション最終章となる本作は、まさに超極上。ミラードの大元マスターなのですから超極上でも当たり前になってしまうのですが、やっぱりスゴいものはスゴい。「芯が○○」「ホール鳴りが◇◇」と言葉にする気力も失せると言いますか、ぶっちゃけ「完全オフィシャル級」。それこそ正真正銘のオフィシャル『UNION LIVE』と混ぜて再生しても「ミックス・バランスがチョット違うかな？」くらい。曲間の喝采やヴォーカルの伸びに極々僅かなオーディエンスらしさも吸い込まれていますが、それさえ神々しい降り注ぎ感にこそなれ、曇りや距離感には一切なりません。
恐らくは、ミラードの技術に加えて「1991年」という時代性もあったのでしょう。休止期間から復帰したミラードの手法に変化があったのかは断言しかねるところですが、世界は確実に変化していた。現場PAが格段に進化しており、本作はその出音の美しさを正確無比に捉えきっているのです。
そんなオフィシャル級オーディエンス・サウンドで画かれるのは、公式作『UNION LIVE』とも趣の異なるフルショウ。ここでショウのポジションも確認しておきましょう。

これが世紀のユニット「８人YES」のワールド・ツアー。公式『UNION LIVE』となったマウンテン・ビュー公演もカリフォルニアでしたが、あちらはレッグが異なる終盤の「北米#2」。本作のイングルウッド公演は約３ヶ月前にあたる「北米#1」の26公演目にあたるコンサートでした。そして、レッグが異なればセットも変わり、本作では『UNION LIVE』で聴けないレパートリーも楽しめます。ここで比較しながら整理しておきましょう。
