With the 50th anniversary of the daimyo board “Kiseki”, YES’s Japan tour was realized for the first time in three years. All performances of the latest original recording will be released together!
This time’s Japan tour consisted of five performances, and this work is the third in a series of five. It is the best audience recording of the performance “September 8, 2022: NHK Osaka Hall”. This time, a concentrated release of 5 works with all performances at once. First of all, let’s check the position of each live album on the schedule.

A total of 5 performances. As you can see, all three performances in Tokyo are “Orchard Hall”, arranged as the beginning of the visit to Japan and the additional final performance. In the meantime, performances in Osaka and Nagoya were held. This week, such two West Japan performances will be released at the same time, but in fact, these two works are also sister works by simultaneous recording artists. And that taper is Mr. “West Japan’s strongest taper” who is familiar with our shop. If you have caught your eye in this article, I think you have experienced some kind of “strongest” Mr.’s work, but these two works do not stain the gold signboard … No, it is a superb recording that makes it shine even more.
In fact, the sound of this work is “just like a soundboard”. Although it is a cliché of Mr. “Strongest”, there is no other way to express it. A very thick core with zero sense of distance, fine details, a wonderful sense of separation, sharp contours, and a quiet and quiet atmosphere. It seems that new equipment was introduced with the new corona wreck, but perhaps because of that, the sound board-like direct feeling is more amazing than ever. The five works that will be released at the same time this time are all masterpieces, and considering the performance quality of each song, I can not assert the best. However, if you want a sound suitable for “sound board replacement” and “official replacement”, this work would be the best.
And the superb sound depicted is a full show centered on the complete reproduction of the Daimyo board “Kissei”. The last day of the additional performance “TOKYO 2022 FINAL NIGHT (Amity 692)” was a special set, but the basics of the other 4 performances are the same. Only one place changed daily. … and it looks like this. The daily change was Steve Howe’s solo time, and “To Be Over (first day in Tokyo, this work, last day in Tokyo)” or “Clap (second day in Tokyo, Nagoya)” was replaced. Of course, the valuable one is “To Be Over”. From around the “FULL CIRCLE Tour” in 2003, he has occasionally been featured in solo time, but Japan is the first time on this tour. Moreover, it is also the revival for the first time in 11 years. Another intensely fresh one is “On The Silent Wings Of Freedom”. This is the opening of the tour overseas, but this is the first revival in 35 years. Of course, this is the first time that it will be performed in Japan.
“Anyway, it’s a live album with a wonderful sound.” While it is a soundboard-class listening response, the natural sense of balance of the ensemble and the (light) pouring interval that is unique to the scene are beauty points that cannot be found in the line. This is the best masterpiece (in terms of sound) of the 5 series this time. A 2-disc set where you can enjoy the latest YES’s “crisis” reproduction live with such beautiful dynamic sound. Please enjoy it to the fullest.

★ The best audience recording of “September 8, 2022: NHK Osaka Hall” performance. The latest recording by master craftsman “Western Japan’s strongest taper”, with a very thick core with zero sense of distance, fine details, a splendid sense of separation, sharp contours, and a quiet surrounding atmosphere … “It’s just like a sound board”. It is a powerful recording that cannot be expressed. You can fully experience valuable songs such as the complete reproduction of “Crisis”, the rare “On the Silent Wings of Freedom”, Howe’s solo version “To Be Over”, etc. with the superb sound of the sound board barefoot.

大名盤『危機』の50周年を掲げ、3年ぶりに実現したYESの来日公演。最新オリジナル録音の全公演一緒リリースが決定です!
 今回のジャパン・ツアーは全5公演だったわけですが、本作はその5連作の第三弾。「2022年9月8日:NHK大阪ホール」公演の極上オーディエンス録音です。今回は全公演が一挙に出揃った5作品の集中リリース。まずは日程で各ライヴアルバムのポジションを確認しておきましょう。

 以上、全5公演。ご覧の通り東京3公演はすべて“オーチャードホール”で、来日冒頭と追加の最終公演として配置。その合間に大阪・名古屋公演が行われました。今週は、そんな西日本2公演も同時リリースとなるわけですが、実はこの2作は同時録音家による姉妹作でもあります。そして、そのテーパーこそが当店お馴染みの“西日本最強テーパー”氏。本稿に目を留められた方なら、何かしらの“最強”氏作品を体験された事があると思いますが、今回の2作品も金看板を汚さぬ……いや、一層輝かせる極上録音です。
 実際、本作のサウンドは「まるでサウンドボード」そのまんま。“最強”氏の作の常套句ではありますが、もう他に表現しようがない。極太で距離感ゼロの芯、細やかなディテール、見事なセパレート感、切り立った輪郭、そしてシンと静まり返った周囲の雰囲気……。新型コロナ禍を機に新たな機材を導入されたそうですが、その甲斐もあってか、これまで以上にサウンドボード的なダイレクト感が凄まじいのです。今回同時リリースとなる5作品はいずれ劣らぬ大傑作揃いですし、1曲1曲の演奏クオリティまで考慮するとベストを断言しかねます。しかし、こと「サウンドボード代わり」「オフィシャル代わり」に相応しいサウンドを望むのでしたら本作がベストでしょう。
 そして、その極上サウンドで描かれるのは大名盤『危機』完全再現を軸としたフルショウ。追加公演の最終日『TOKYO 2022 FINAL NIGHT(Amity 692)』は特別セットでしたが、それ以外の4公演の基本は共通。日替わりなのは1ヶ所だけでした。ここでそのセットも整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。日替わりなのはスティーヴ・ハウのソロ・タイムで「To Be Over(東京初日・本作・東京最終日)」か「Clap(東京2日目・名古屋)」が入れ替わっていました。もちろん、貴重なのは「To Be Over」の方。2003年の“FULL CIRCLE Tour”辺りから時折ソロ・タイムで取り上げるようになりましたが、今回のツアーでは日本が初。しかも、11年ぶりの復活でもあるのです。もう1つ強烈に新鮮なのが「On The Silent Wings Of Freedom」。海外でも今回ツアーのオープニングを務めていますが、これが35年ぶりの復活。もちろん、日本で演奏されるのは今回が初です。
 何はともあれ、素晴らしく音が良いライヴアルバムです。サウンドボード級の聴き応えでありつつ、自然なアンサンブルのバランス感覚や現場だからこその(うっすらとした)降り注ぎ間はラインではあり得ない美点。今回の5連作でも(サウンド面の)最高傑作は本作です。そんな美のダイナミック・サウンドで最新YESの『危機』再現ライヴが楽しめる2枚組。どうぞ、存分に味わい尽くしてください。
