The Who’s “HITS BACK!” US tour schedule for the second half of 2022 has been successfully completed with great success. It is still fresh in my memory that the best audience album “HOLLLYWOOD BOWL 2022” is being released from UXBRDIGE last week.
Taper, who participated in the Hollywood Bowl at the end of such a tour, was not only pleased with the results of his own recording, but above all, he was impressed by the current The Who, who was in great shape, and was the next performance venue, even at the end of the tour. “The Seeker”, which had been performed spectacularly in Hollywood, has completely regained its former destructive power. Roger sings enthusiastically, and Pete cuts sharply. I don’t think it’s a performance by a musician who was in his late 70’s.
And since this tour is the first tour to be carried out in the midst of the corona wreck, it must have been a great sense of accomplishment for Roger and Pete to reach the final destination of the tour in Las Vegas safely. You can even tell how you are in a good mood.
Accompanied by an orchestra, the live performance starts with “TOMMY” and ends with “QUADROPHENIA”, featuring Fu’s two major albums. If you can show us a fulfilling staging so far, I can’t help but hope that you will continue next year.
The best audience album that captures the final performance in Las Vegas, where The Who reached its peak in 2022, with the highest sound quality. A name sound source that you can listen to smoothly so that the volume of two days of live does not bother you at all.

ザ・フー「HITS BACK!」アメリカ・ツアー2022年の後半スケジュールも大盛況のうちに無事完遂されました。先週UXBRDIGEから極上オーディエンス・アルバム「HOLLLYWOOD BOWL 2022」が大好評リリース中なのは記憶に新しいところかと。
そんなツアー終盤のハリウッド・ボウルに参戦したテーパーは自身の録音の成果に気を良くしただけでなく、何より現在のザ・フーあまりに絶好調ぶりに感銘を受け次の公演地であり、ツアーの千秋楽でもあるラスヴェガス2Daysにも参戦してくれたのです。
何しろハリウッド・ボウルがあれだけの高音質だった訳ですが、今回の録音はそれをも上回る衝撃のクオリティ。二日間を通して音像が非常にオン、さらにはライブ全体を通しての安定感も抜群。本来ならばプレス盤でのリリースが相応しいのでは？と思えるほどのレベル。
テーパーがライブを連続参戦するとオーディエンス録音のクオリティが向上するのは常ですが、正にハリウッド・ボウルから進化した見事な仕事ぶりを見せつけてくれました。
ラスヴェガスでの二日間はセットリストこそ同一で行われたものの、さすがはツアーのフィナーレを飾る二公演ということもあって、どちらも甲乙つけがたい素晴らしさ…それどころか圧巻と呼びたくなるほど見事なステージが繰り広げられている。おまけに音質が抜群ですので、なおさら両日の演奏の切れ味が手に取るように感じられるという。
実際この駄文を書くに当たって二公演を通しで聞いたわけですが、それがまったく苦にならない快演に圧倒されました。それどころか両日を聞けば「HITS BACK!」アメリカ・ツアーが現在のフーのライブをネクスト・レベルに引き上げてくれたのだと痛感させられることしきり。
ハリウッドでも壮絶な演奏が披露されていた「The Seeker」などは往年の破壊力を完全に取り戻している。ロジャーは熱唱、ピートはキレのいいカッティングを連発。とても70代後半に差しかかったミュージシャンの演奏とは思えません。
そして今回のツアーはコロナ禍の中で敢行された初めてのツアーということもあり、ロジャーやピートにとっても無事にラスヴェガスというツアーの最終地に辿り着けた達成感が大きいのでしょう、両日を通して二人ともご機嫌な様子までしっかり伝わってきます。
オーケストラを帯同し、ライブを「TOMMY」からスタートさせ「QUADROPHENIA」で幕を閉じるというフーの二大看板アルバムをフィーチャーした構成も堂々たるステージ映え。ここまで充実したステージングを見せつけてくれるとなれば、ぜひ来年も継続してほしいと願わずにはいられません。
そんな2022年のザ・フーが頂点を迎えたラスヴェガスでの千秋楽を最高の音質で捉えた最高のオーディエンス・アルバム。ライブ二日分というボリュームがまるで気にならないほど、サラリと聞き通せてしまう名音源。
先週リリースされた「HOLLLYWOOD BOWL 2022」と共に絶好調のピートとロジャーを始めとした最新のステージを秋の夜長にじっくりとお楽しみください。掛け値なしに音質も演奏も最高！
