Surprisingly, there were not 3 sisters but 4 sisters… From the masterpiece collection that HR/HM collectors cannot avoid, a new masterpiece from the Steve Vai era is born!
What is inscribed in this work is “August 12, 1990: San Sebastian performance”. This is the best audience recording. From the beginning, I started talking about them being “sisters” and “masters,” but let me explain from the beginning. This work is a newly discovered live album from the Vai era, but in fact, the same recording artist’s masterpieces have already been released one after another. The recording artist is “Stephane”. He is a well-known master who has released a large number of famous recordings such as IRON MAIDEN’s press masterpiece, SCORPIONS, MOTLEY CRUE, GUNS N’ ROSES, SKID ROW, etc. Most of the bands record one thing, but “SLIP OF THE TONGUE Tour” is an exception. Maybe you like WHITESNAKE a lot, or maybe you’re a Vai fan, but this is your fourth recording.
Of course, normally if you listen to four songs by the same recording artist/tour, you’d get tired of hearing them, but that’s not the case thanks to Stephane’s magic. Before we look at the quality, first of all, the position of the show. Let’s look back at the tour schedule at that time and check the positional relationship of the four sisters.

●1989
[“SLIP OF THE TONGUE” released on November 7th] ●1990
・February 2nd – March 28th: North America #1 (34 performances)
・April 7th – July 13th: North America #2 (62 performances)
・August 8th – September 7th: Europe (15 performances) ←★Here★
・September 19th-26th: Japan (5 performances)
《WHITESNAKE activity suspended》

This is the whole picture of “SLIP OF THE TONGUE Tour”. Paris-based Stephane’s collections were all recorded in the European leg. From here, the official work “LIVE AT DONINGTON 1990” is also left, so let’s zoom in on the schedule further.

●“Europe” leg details
・August 8th-11th (3 performances)
*August 12: San Sebastian performance ←★This work★
・August 18: Donington performance ← *Official
・August 21st “SLIP OF THE GLOBE (Stockholm)”
・August 23rd: Berlin performance
*August 25th “DORTMUND 1990: DEFINITIVE MASTER”
・August 26th-30th (3 performances)
*September 1st “MANNHEIM 1990”
*September 3rd “PARIS 1990”
・September 4th-8th (3 performances)

…and it looks like this. “*” mark is “Stephane” collection. The previous three works were solidified at the end of the leg, but the San Sebastian performance of this work was on the contrary at the beginning. It was also the show before that “LIVE AT DONINGTON 1990”.
This work, which is a vacuum-packed version of such a show, is just as good as the previous ones… no, it is an even better recording. The previous three works, “DORTMUND 1990”, “MANNHEIM 1990”, and “PARIS 1990″ were thick and thick, and the freshness of the original cassette with no dubbing marks was tremendous. This work also maintains the individuality of such “Stephane” sound, but it is even clearer.
The hall sound itself is inhaled, so it is not the type that can be mistaken for a sound board, but the atmosphere is clear and the outline is very sharp. Along with this, the details are also finely conveyed, and the sense of separation of the ensemble is also wonderful. All of the members of WHITESNAKE from the Vai era had a lot of notes, so this vividness is especially pleasing.
With such clear sound, the full show is filled with excitement as the big stage “MONSTERS OF ROCK” approaches. The set is well known from the official site, so I will omit it, but the passionate performance is overwhelming. Coverdale, who tends to get tired on tour, has great stretch and tension, probably because it’s early in the leg, and his shout power is clearly in top form. And Vai’s virtuosity in creating a different dimension mood by taking advantage of this skill is also sharp. At the time, there was a lot of talk about how strange it felt, but because it was a mixed martial arts battle, it had a unique personality that you wouldn’t hear anywhere else, and above all, the quality of the fighting skills of the most talented people of our time was extremely high. This work is a live album where you can feel the heat.
Even so, I didn’t expect him to travel not only to his home base of Paris, but also to travel to Germany and Spain to record… “Vai Era WHITESNAKE”, which was often considered to be a trifle, was loved so deeply by a master recording artist. This is a great recording that will make you happy with that fact itself. A new masterpiece that is especially clear among the unparalleled beauty sisters. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.

★Excellent audience recording of “August 12, 1990: San Sebastian Performance”. This is the latest in the collection of the much-talked-about master “Stephane”, and this is the 4th “Vai Era White Snake”. Like the previous three works, it’s thick and thick, but it’s even clearer. The atmosphere is clear and the contours are very sharp. Along with this, the details are also finely conveyed, and the sense of separation of the ensemble is also wonderful. This is one of the best masterpieces in the collection of masters who repeatedly recorded with a focus on “Vai era white snake”.
