そんな定番中の定番ライブ映像ではありましたが、99年放送というVHS末期のタイミングで広まったせいで現在のテレビのクオリティに合う形で楽しめない状況へと陥ってしまっていたのが何とも惜しまれました。
ところが本国ドイツでは2017年にしれっとHDモードでの再放送が実現しており、今まで一部のヴァンモリ・トレーダーの間にしか出回っていなかったベスト・バージョンが
放流され、晴れて見られるようになったのです！
さすがに画質は素晴らしい。99年に出回っていたバージョンはVHSを経由した段階でどう頑張っても画質が落ちてしまっていた訳ですが、今回はそうした余計な経路がないHD放送ですので、これほどの画像で見られるのは99年のリアタイ放送時以来ではないかと。

かといって現在のテレビでありがちな過度なリマスターが施された再放送とも違い、2017年の放送というタイミングのおかげで、あくまで当時の画質を最高の状態で再現するという放送が実現したのも本バージョンの魅力。
実際ヴァンモリの腕から生えている毛並みはもちろん、彼が後ろを向いた時に映るフケまで（苦笑）まで見えてしまうほど。
それにこのツアーは当時の彼のバンドにサックスのキャンディ・ダルファーが参加するという豪華なメンツで敢行されており、彼女が「Moondance」以降でステージの登場してからのゴージャスなサウンドと充実のセットリストもこの映像の人気の秘訣。

ところがHD再放送バージョンはオープニングで披露された「It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue」が未収録という大きな落とし穴があった。ゼム時代にカバーしていたボブ・ディランのカバーから幕を開け、なおかつバング時代の「T.B. Sheets」が続くという、文字通りマニア狂喜のセットリストも本映像の大きな魅力であった。
そこでカットされた同曲だけ現在YouTube上で見られるリアタイ放送版から拝借しようか…とも考えたのですが、画質の差が激しいという問題だけにとどまらず、リアタイ放送とHD版では画面サイズが違うという現実まで抱えていた。
そこで今回は2017年版とリアタイ放送版をカップリングすることでこの問題を解決しています。
確かに画質自体は2017年版の圧勝な訳ですが、やはりディラン・カバーのオープニングを見たいのはマニアなら当然。さらにはライブのフィナーレに花火が打ち上げられる場面が見られるのもリアタイ放送ならでは。
よってリアタイ放送版はボーナス・ディスク的な位置づけとなるのですが、まずはHD放送版で最高画質のプロショット＆ステレオ・サウンドボードでヴァンモリ99年の定番ライブ映像をお楽しみください。
そして先にも触れたオープニングだけでなく、さらなるディラン・カバーの「Just Like A Woman」も披露され、さらにそこではヴァンモリやバンドが笑いながら歌うという微笑ましい場面まで見られる。掛け値なしに近代のヴァンモリ最高のライブ映像の一つ！
