URIAH HEEP has overcome the new corona pandemic and embarked on a 50th anniversary tour. The original recording that tells the scene has arrived.
“Performance in London on October 5, 2022” is imbued in this work. It is the best audience recording. This work is also the first report of URIAH HEEP after the pandemic. It’s a good opportunity, so let’s take a broader view of the steps since the resumption of activities.
● 2021
・ July 25-August 28: Europe # 1 (6 performances)
● 2022
・ January 28 + 29: UK (2 performances)
・ June 4-August 20: Europe #2 (17 performances)
“50th Anniversary Tour”

・November 14-December 15: Europe #4 (25 performances)
● 2023
・ April 4-26: Russia (14 performances)
This is the schedule for 2021-2023 that has been announced so far. They have resumed live activities since last summer, and will start a full-scale tour from 2022. In particular, the “50th Anniversary Tour” will start from “Europe #3” in early autumn. Even more surprising is next April. A large-scale Russian tour is also planned, and I’m worried whether I can really do it, and whether I can do it (in many ways). Anyway, in such a situation, the London performance of this work was just after the start of the 50th anniversary tour. It was also a concert corresponding to the 14th performance of “Europe # 3”.
This work, which vacuum-packed such a scene, is a masterpiece recording that depicts “superb”. It is an original recording of only this work that was handed over by the recording artist himself, but the recording artist is a legendary master who is familiar with “British masters” at our shop. It has been a while since the new corona pandemic occurred, but he is a master who has been recording the British scene since the 1980s, and this work is the first new work in a long time.
And the sound is truly a work of art. He is a type of recording artist who pursues “realism and modern clarity” rather than how to get closer to the sound board, and if you compare it in Japan, it will lead to Kinney. This work is pierced by its aesthetics, and a solid core rushes straight like a laser beam in the middle of the crystal clear atmosphere. Although it has a tone that also sucks in the hall sound, it does not obscure the details, but rather even creates a glittering edge.
What’s more, it’s amazing that its brilliance matches any ensemble. Actually, URIAH HEEP’s 50th anniversary tour consists of two parts, the first half of the show being acoustic and the second half being electric, but this work is extremely beautiful in both gardens. The acoustics fill the space of the elegant “London Palladium Theater” with a simple sound, while the electrics capture the looming power. Despite the completely different sound output, both are stable and beautiful, and they also have a mysterious sense of unity. It is a beautiful recording of a craftsman that can only be achieved by a master who has continued to record every venue and every musician.
A collection of masterpieces created over half a century is depicted in such a beautiful world. Here, let’s organize acoustic/electric together.
● Byron era (15 songs + α)
・The Devil and Wizard: Medley (The Wizard/Paradise/Circle of Hands: ★)/Traveler in Time/Rainbow Demon/Easy Livin’
・Devil’s Feast: Tales (★)/Rain (★)/Sunrise/Sweet Lorraine
・Other (acoustic): Come Away Melinda (★) / Lady In Black (★) / Circus (★) / Confession (★)
・Other (Electric): Gypsy/July Morning/Stealin’
After that (7 songs)
・Lawton era: Free Me (★) / The Hanging Tree / Free ‘n’ Easy
・Goalby Era: Too Scared To Run
・ Show era: Against The Odds / Between Two Worlds / What Kind of God
* Note: “★” marks are songs played in the first acoustic set.
… and it looks like this. More colorful than ever. The two albums “Devil and Wizard” and “Devil’s Feast” are thick, but the other albums are very wide with only 1-2 songs. Especially colorful is the acoustic set in the first half. It suddenly starts with “Circus” of “Sweet Freedom”, and after that, rare songs such as “Tales”, “Come Away Melinda” and “Confession” are repeated. “Huh? What album is this song from?” My brain can’t keep up.
When you move to electric music, the number of standard songs will increase, but this time the leap of the times is amazing. If you think it started with the classic 90’s song “Against The Odds”, then jump to John Lawton’s “The Hanging Tree”, then return to Byron’s era with “Traveller in Time”, and “Between” from “Sonic Origami”. Two Worlds” to the 90’s again. After that, it is a live show that shows the weight of 50 years that has always been writing good songs, such as “Too Scared To Run” in the Pete Goalby era and “What Kind of God” in recent years.
This is a new masterpiece that allows you to fully experience the variety of masterpieces that have been created over the past half century with a variety of ensembles and the beautiful sounds of the craftsmen. LED ZEPPELIN has already died from BLACK SABBATH, and Steve Morse left DEEP PURPLE. In 2022, URIAH HEEP was able to celebrate its 50th anniversary with the most active feeling. 50 years of glorious British rock. Please fully enjoy this work that can be drawn with the beautiful sound of the craftsman.
★ The best audience recording of “London performance on October 5, 2022”. This is the latest recording by a master known as the “British master”, with a solid core thrusting straight like a laser beam through the center of the crystal-clear atmosphere. It is a beautiful recording that creates a sparkling edge with a hall sound. You can fully experience the 50th anniversary tour that showcases a wide range of masterpieces that have been created over the past half century.
