【DISC 1-2：話題の姉妹録音でもダイナミックな姉篇】
今週同時リリースの２タイトルに採用されたフル録音は、今話題を呼んでいる新マスター。もちろん、高音質ぶりが話題になっているのですのが、実はそれだけではない。同じ録音家が２日間連続で録音・公開した姉妹作なのです。本作に収録されているのは姉篇の「10月13日」録音でして、話題になるのも納得のクオリティ。オンで極太な芯が距離を感じさせずに力強く迫る。実のところホール鳴りも吸い込んでいるオーディエンスらしいサウンドでもあるのですが、それにしてはディテールが損なわれず、演奏の機微が妙に間近に感じられるのです。

そして、今回もお楽しみなのは全天スペクタクルを味わえる派映像篇。もちろん本作でも遮蔽物ゼロの絶景フル映像を厳選収録しているわけですが、今回の特徴は「ステージ」が観やすい事。これまでの諸作は史上最大のスクリーン・スペクタクルが主役になりがちでしたが、本作の主役はU2自身なのです。
実際、その映像感覚は従来のオーディエンス・ショットに近い。もちろん、「スフィア」だからこその超巨大映像も押さえてはいるのですが、その広大な景色からググッと４人寄っていく遠近感でスペクタクルを描く手法で生演奏やステージ・アクションを捉えているのです。それを可能にしているのは、遠景も可能な撮影ポジションと最新機材の凄まじいズーム機能でしょう。ステージ右側のスタンド席から見下ろしで撮影しつつ、引きになると結構な距離があるのに果敢なズームでボノやエッジの表情まで大写しになる。先ほど「通常のオーディエンスに近い」と書きましたが、１カメ撮影にも関わらず、次から次へと光景が変化していく見応えはやはり従来の客席撮影とは次元が違います。
