U2’s “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere” shows off the cutting edge of music entertainment created by humanity and is shocking the world. The latest report, a luxurious set of “live album + video”, will be released simultaneously with 3 titles.
This “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere” is not a “tour” but a “residency”. Without having to travel, we are performing repeatedly at the new venue “The Sphere” in Las Vegas until mid-December. Last week, the first 5-disc set “LAS VEGAS 2023 1ST & 2ND NIGHTS (Uxbridge 2023)” was very popular, but that was the set for the first and second day of the residency. This week, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th performances will be released individually. Among them, this work is a 3-disc audience set with the best full recording of “October 7, 2023 (4th performance)” on DISC 1-2 and the superb view video on DISC 3.
In fact, the sound is of the highest quality. The direct feeling of the extremely thick core coming up close is wonderful, and the details are clear. There is no mistaking it for a sound board in terms of tone, but there is no sense of sparseness at all. The generous midrange is full of solid response, and the deep bass that tends to be spoiled in audience recordings is also beautifully captured. It teaches us about “sphere” acoustics, which uses over 160,000 speakers to deliver sound from the floor.
With such a masterful sound, a full show with delicious daily songs is drawn. The first three days of “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere” had the same set, but changes were made on the fourth day. Let’s compare and organize them here.

…and it looks like this. The change was made to the “acoustic set” in the middle. The first to third days were dominated by “RATTLE AND HUM,” but on the fourth day, only “Angel Of Harlem” was left, and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” and “Pride ( In The Name Of Love)” and “MLK”.
[DISC 3: Super video of the world’s largest video spectacle] Now, this week’s three titles are all “live album + video” sets, but it is no exaggeration to say that the video version is the main role in this work. It is a super and spectacular video that you rarely see. It is a one-camera video taken from a slightly distant view from the left side of the stage, but the point is “screen shot”. In the first song, “Zoo Station,” he attempts to shoot directly from the stage using a super zoom, but the photographer, overwhelmed by the spectacle of the screen, switches from focusing on direct shooting to focusing on the screen within a few minutes.This is truly a wise decision. After all, the biggest impact of “Sphere” is that it uses over 1.2 million 16K LED monitors to experience a screen that seems to surround the entire sky. What is most desired now is that sense of another dimension. Of course, the multi-camera video of the highly acclaimed “LAS VEGAS 2023 1ST & 2ND Boiled GHTS” also conveyed its awesomeness, but the experience of being “on the scene” is unique to the one-camera video. This work will deliver the “different-dimensional video on-site experience” desired by music fans around the world.
Moreover, this work is exquisite, even down to the shooting position. I wrote earlier that it was a “slightly distant view”, but this is perfect for screen shots. The best seat for “Sphere” is still not clear, but it seems that if you are too far in front, the giant mirror will be too close and you won’t be able to see what is being projected. Also, depending on your position, you may not be able to see the ceiling image because the second floor seats are in the way. This work has no such shortcomings at all. You can enjoy the all-sky spectacle without any obstructions, and the spectacular sense of distance is beautifully captured. Not only on the 4th day, it is the best shot of the “experiential one-camera video” at the moment.
Although it is a three-disc set of three consecutive works of the highest quality, each one actually has different strengths. This work is, so to speak, a masterpiece that stands out for its “experiential experience of the screen spectacle of the century.” Pro-shot-style multi-camera footage isn’t bad, but if you want the true “experience” of the audience, one-camera is the best. This work, where you can enjoy the real pleasure to the fullest, is a new masterpiece surrounded by the spectacle unique to “Sphere”. One of the recommended books in the trifecta. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
★3-disc set of the best full recording of “Sphere Performance on October 7, 2023” + audience with spectacular footage. The full recording (DISC 1-2) is also of the highest quality, but the video version (DISC 3) is especially amazing. The super spectacle of the world’s largest video is captured in screen shots that make extensive use of distant views. The one-camera experience of being “there” is also very realistic, giving us a sense of what music fans around the world would like to experience live at “Sphere.” It is truly an experiential, super entertaining masterpiece.

今回の“U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere”は「ツアー」ではなく「レジデンシー」。移動することなく、ラスベガスの新会場「The Sphere（スフィア）」で12月半ばまで繰り返しライヴを行っています。先週はその第一報となる５枚組セット『LAS VEGAS 2023 1ST & 2ND NIGHTS（Uxbridge 2023）』が大好評となりましたが、あれはレジデンシー初日と２日目のセットでした。今週はそれに続く３公演目・４公演目・５公演目がそれぞれ個別リリース。その中で本作は「2023年10月７日（４公演目）」の極上フル録音をDISC 1-2に、絶景映像をDISC 3に配したオーディエンス３枚組です。
【DISC 1-2：話題の名手サウンドで綴るお得なフルセット】
まず登場するのは、極上サウンドのフル・ライヴアルバム。現代の名手に数えられる「ONE8UNG」による銘品です。キム・ワイルドやマーク・アーモンド、COLDPLAYなどの録音が多いために当店ではあまり馴染みがありませんが、その筋のコレクターには名作連発で注目されている人物なのです。
実際、そのサウンドは極上級。極太な芯が間近に迫るダイレクト感も素晴らしく、ディテールも鮮明。音色的にサウンドボードと間違える事はありませんが、かといってスカスカ感も皆無。たっぷりとした中域はずっしりとした手応えを湛え、オーディエンス録音ではスポイルされがちな重低音も綺麗に捉えられている。16万個以上のスピーカーで床面から音を届けるという「スフィア」音響を私たちに教えてくれるのです。
そんな名手サウンドで描かれるのは、日替わり曲も美味しいフルショウ。“U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere”の冒頭３日間は同一セットでしたが、４日目にして変更が入りました。ここで比較しながら整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。変更があったのは中盤の「アコースティック・セット」。初日ー３日目は『RATTLE AND HUM』ナンバーで占められていましたが、４日目は「Angel Of Harlem」だけを残して「I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For」「Pride (In The Name Of Love)」「MLK」に入れ替えられました。
【DISC 3：世界最大の映像スペクタクルが迫る超映像】
さて、今週の３タイトルはどれも「ライヴアルバム＋映像」のセットなわけですが、本作に限っては映像篇こそが主役と言っても過言ではない。希に観る超・絶景映像なのです。ステージ左側からやや遠景で捉えたワンカメ映像なのですが、そのポイントは「スクリーン・ショット」。１曲目「Zoo Station」では超ズームでステージの直写にも挑戦するのですが、スクリーンの超スペクタクルに圧倒された撮影者は数分で直写主体からスクリーン主体へと切り替えるのです。
これこそ、まさに英断。何しろ「スフィア」最大の衝撃は16ＫのLEDモニターを120万超も使い、全天を囲むようなスクリーンの映像体験。今一番望まれているのは、その異次元感覚なのです。もちろん、大好評を博した『LAS VEGAS 2023 1ST & 2ND 煮GHTS』のマルチカメラ映像でもその凄みは伝わりましたが、「現場にいる」という体験感はワンカメ映像の独壇場。本作は、全世界の音楽ファンが望む「異次元映像の現場体験」を届けてくれるのです。
しかも、本作は撮影ポジションまで絶妙。先ほど「やや遠景」と書きましたが、これがスクリーン・ショットには最適。まだまだ「スフィア」のベスト・シートは解明されていませんが、どうやら前方すぎると巨大好く理0ンが近すぎて何が映されているか分からないようです。また、ポジションによっては２階席が邪魔で天井映像が見えない事もある。本作はそうした欠点がまったくない。遮蔽物ナシに全天スペクタクルが味わえ、しかも絶妙な距離感で映像のスペクタクルが綺麗に押さえられている。４日目に限らず、現時点で「体験型ワンカメ映像」のベスト・ショットなのです。
いずれ劣らぬ極上クオリティの３枚組×３連作ではありますが、実はそれぞれに一番の強みは異なる。本作は言わば「世紀のスクリーン・スペクタクルの体験感」でズバ抜けた名作です。プロショット風のマルチカメラ映像も悪くはないですが、やはりオーディエンスの真骨頂「体験感」ならワンカメこそがベスト。その醍醐味が最大限に味わえる本作は、「スフィア」ならではのスペクタクルに囲まれる新名盤です。３連作でもオススメの１本。どうぞ、心ゆくまで存分に味わい尽くしてください。
★「2023年10月７日スフィア公演」の極上フル録音＋絶景映像のオーディエンス３枚組。フル録音（DISC 1-2）も極上級ですが、特にスゴいのは映像篇（DISC 3）。遠景を多用したスクリーン・ショットで世界一の巨大映像の超スペクタクルを捉えている。ワンカメによる「その場にいる」感も超リアルで、世界中の音楽ファンが生体験したい「スフィア」の現場感覚を教えてくれる。まさに体験型の超・娯楽大作です。
