A real upgrade master appears on the soundboard of the champion known as “True LIVE AND DANGEROUS”! The most important live album in the history of THIN LIZZY will be permanently preserved on press 2CD.
Engraved on the most important board is “Performance in Philadelphia on October 20, 1977”. It is the stereo sound board recording. If you have read this article, you will have a special feeling for this date. Not only is it known as the origin (one of) of THIN LIZZY’s masterpiece “LIVE AND DANGEROUS”, it is also on the official excavation board “STILL DANGEROUS” and our complete soundboard “BREAKOUT” and “PHILADELPHIA 1977 1ST NIHGT”. development. It has been loved as the “true L&D” and “the true form of L&D”. This work is a reissue of such a copy and remaster. . . . No, then. Although it is the same full version sound board, it is an upgrade master with even better sound.
At this point, some of you may be thinking, “Huh? [The real L&D] was mentioned last time, right?” Yes, “HAMMERSMITH ODEON 1976 (Zodiac 535)”, which was released the other day and was very well received, was also one of the “Omoto of LIVE AND DANGEROUS”. It’s also a good opportunity, so let’s start by exploring the recording date of the daimyo board “LIVE AND DANGEROUS”.
●1976
《August “Johnny the Heron” production》
・ September 4-November 18: Europe # 1 (40 performances) ← ※ HAMMERSMITH ODEON 1976
《November 23: Robo injured → Gary participates》
●1977
* January 3: London performance
* January 18-March 18: North America #1 (37 performances)
《Completion of “Infamous” in June / Announcement of returning to Robo on July 20》
・ August 6-September 4: Europe #2 (12 performances)
・September 21-November 5: North America #2 (32 performances) ← Coco
・November 11-December 17: UK #1 (28 performances)
● 1978
・ March 29: London performance ← *Video version L&D
・ May 15-26: Europe #3 (5 performances)
《“LIVE AND DANGEROUS (album version)” released on June 2nd》
・ June 13-23: UK #2 (8 performances)
・July 6th: Performance in Ibiza
《Brian Robertson officially withdraws》
* Note: “*” marks are shows where Gary Moore acted as a substitute.
The above is the history from the production of “JOHNNY THE FOX” to Brian Robertson’s departure. Gary Moore may be acting as a pinch hitter on the way, but the important thing here is the recording date of the album version “LIVE AND DANGEROUS”. The album was credited with “Hammersmith 1976 and Toronto 1977”, and producer Tony Visconti later revealed that he also used “Philadelphia 1977”. However, even though there were three places, the live performances were the following six performances (although it is confusing, the video version is a completely different performance).
– 1976 [Europe #1]
・ November 14: Hammersmith performance
・November 15th: Hammersmith Performance ← *HAMMERSMITH ODEON 1976
・ November 16: Hammersmith performance
– 1977 [North America # 2]
・October 20: Philadelphia performance ← *STILL DANGEROUS & ★This work★
・October 21: Philadelphia performance ←※STILL DANGEROUS
・ October 28: Toronto performance (?)
… and it looks like this. “1977 Toronto” has a (?), but according to some materials, it was not actually used. On the other hand, some compilations have adopted official takes that are said to be Toronto recordings, and the details are still unknown. Anyway, both this work and “HAMMERSMITH ODEON 1976” are “L & D Omoto”, and they are sound board albums where you can enjoy real live performances without modification or editing.
Also, uncensored and delicious is not only the performance, but the flow of the set is also important. As mentioned above, the Philadelphia performance is the origin of both “LIVE AND DANGEROUS” and “STILL DANGEROUS”, but the set is different from both. Let’s organize them by comparing them here.
● Songs that cannot be heard in the album version “LIVE & DANGEROUS”
・Soldier Of Fortune/Opium Trail/Bad Reputation/Me And The Boys
● Songs that cannot be heard in “STILL DANGEROUS”
・Johnny The Fox Meets Jimmy The Weed/Warriors/Still In Love With You/Are You Ready
● Songs that overlap with “LIVE & DANGEROUS” and “STILL DANGEROUS”
・Jailbreak/Dancing In The Moonlight/Massacre/Cowboy Song/The Boys Are Back In Town/Don’t Believe A Word/Emerald/Baby Drives Me Crazy
As described above, this is a full live album that will undoubtedly be a “true LIVE AND DANGEROUS”. It is exactly the most important board in the history of THIN LIZZY.
“Well, finally (bitter smile) the main subject.” This work is the highest peak update master of such a complete version sound board. Wolfgang released the full version for the first time in the world, and most of the existing releases around the world are based on it, but this work is different. It is a natural and beautiful new master, with a wide range of sounds and edges. This natural feeling is not something that can be achieved with digital mastering, and it is clear that it is different from the original. After experiencing this work, the already released group is so worried about the digital deterioration that it was surreal. Furthermore, if you are an audiophile who checks the waveform, you will be convinced that “this is different”. The Wolgang master was crushed when the peak hit the limit, but this work is beautifully drawn to the tip.
As a matter of fact, this time, “GRAF ZEPPELIN” was in charge of the final finishing to ensure consistency with the partner board “HAMMERSMITH ODEON 1976”. However, the new master this time was so perfect that even if he had a fine mastering demon, he said, “I can’t do it.” The most important live album that conveys “True LIVE AND DANGEROUS” along with “HAMMERSMITH ODEON 1976”, its highest peak update board. Please enjoy it thoroughly with the permanent preservation press 2CD.
