This work was shot at “June 23, 2019 Clisson performance”. This is a multi-camera pro shot when I appeared at the famous French metal festival “HELLFEST”. Along with DOWNLOAD, BLOOD STOCK, WACKEN, SWEDEN ROCK, etc., it is a famous festival that represents summer in Europe, but it will be canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the new Corona Pandemic. This work in 2019 is two years ago, but it is also the latest video.
TESTAMENT, which has become the strongest lineup, has already visited Japan several times, but the last is 2018. It’s also a good opportunity, so let’s take a broader overview of their activities and get a grasp of what’s happening.

“April 3” TITANS OF CREATION “released”

This is the 2018-2020 TESTAMENT. Around the time of the release of the new work “TITANS OF CREATION”, the pandemic of the new Corona exploded, and we have not been able to perform any live activities until today. This work is about 8 months before such a tragedy. It was the 6th performance of “Europe # 3” over the summer festivals in Europe.
The reason why the show two years ago appeared by now is actually the latest distribution that was just released recently. “HELLFEST” announced a major revival in 2022, and carefully selected past videos as its promotion. Other than TESTAMENT is also distributed, but it is talked about as “higher quality than the version at that time!”. In fact, the quality of this work is completely official. Image quality, sound quality, camera work, mix … It’s perfect, iron-clad, and invincible to explain in words. As a matter of fact, the upgrade range is not as wide as other bands because the original is the latest in 2019, but it must be the ultimate quality possible at the moment.
The official quality is drawn in the slash paradise, which can be said to be the strongest in modern times. It’s a festival appearance, so it’s only about 50 minutes, but it concentrates the old and new assault tunes and bites you. Here, let’s organize the set so that you can feel the concentration.

… And it looks like this. Rather than seeking rare songs for all 10 songs (+ Chuck’s birthday song chorus), I am intoxicated by the pleasure of being struck by a powerful and unrivaled performance. As a matter of course, Chuck & Eric, who are the core, have the rhythm section of that super-famous board “INDIVIDUAL THOUGHT PATTERNS” in the guitar hero who is the best in the 80 yen range slash, so there is nothing wrong with it. The only enemy is age, but the twin riffs that have been polished as if they were on your side are also terrific, and Hoglan’s repeated hits and Di Giorgio’s fretless are still superhuman. And Chuck Billy. If you scream melodicly, the scent of the 80’s slash is perfect, and the occasionally mixed death growl is unabated.
Exactly the “strongest”. It’s not just a gathering of celebrities, it’s not just fierce metal. Because everyone has survived live live from the beginning of the scene, the real 80’s slash blows out from the pores, and the ensemble is still an iron wall. Now that SLAYER has passed away, the strongest can only be TESTAMENT. One piece that hits it with thrash metal, which is more eloquent than a thousand words. Please be thoroughly beaten up!

そんな本作が撮影されたのは「2019年６月23日クリソン公演」。フランスの有名メタルフェス“HELLFEST”に出演した際のマルチカメラ・プロショットです。DOWNLOADやBLOODSTOCK、WACKEN、SWEDEN ROCK等と並んでヨーロッパの夏を代表する名物フェスですが、新型コロナ・パンデミックによって2020年と2021年は中止。2019年の本作は２年前でありつつ、最新映像でもあります。
最強ラインナップとなったTESTAMENTはすでに何度か来日もしてくれましたが、その最後は2018年。良い機会でもありますので、ちょっと広めに彼らの活動概要を俯瞰して近況を把握してみましょう。

これが2018年ー2020年のTESTAMENT。新作『TITANS OF CREATION』のリリースと前後して新型コロナのパンデミックが爆発、一切のライヴ活動もできずに今日に至っています。本作はそんな悲劇の約８ヶ月前。ヨーロッパの夏フェスを巡った「欧州#3」の６公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
そんな２年前のショウがなぜ今ごろ登場した科というと、実はつい最近公開された最新配信なのです。“HELLFEST”は2022年に大々的な復活を告知しており、その宣伝として過去映像を厳選配信している。TESTAMENT以外も配信されているのですが、「当時バージョンよりもハイクオリティ！」と話題になっているのです。実際、本作のクオリティは完全オフィシャル級。画質・音質・カメラワーク・ミックス……いちいち言葉で説明するのもアホらしいくらいに完璧・鉄壁・無敵です。実のところ、元が2019年と最新なために他バンドほどのアップグレード幅でもないのですが、現時点で可能な究極クオリティには違いありません。
そのオフィシャル・クオリティで描かれるのは、現代最強とも言えるスラッシュ・パラダイス。フェス出演なので約50分と短いものの、そこに新旧の突撃チューンを濃縮してブチかましてくれる。ここでその濃度を実感するためにもセットを整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。全10曲（＋チャックのバースデー・ソング合唱）だけにレア曲を求めるというよりは、ただひたすら強力無比な演奏にいたぶられる快感に酔いしれる。核であるチャック＆エリックは当然として、80円台スラッシュ最高のギターヒーローに、あの超名盤『INDIVIDUAL THOUGHT PATTERNS』のリズム隊が揃っているのですから悪かろうハズがない。敵は年齢だけですが、それさえ味方に付けたかのように磨き込まれたツインのリフも凄まじいキレですし、ホグランの連打もディジョルジオのフレットレスも未だに超人。そして、チャック・ビリー。メロディックに叫べば80年代スラッシュだけの薫りが満点で、時折混ぜるデス声も衰えなしです。
まさに「最強」。単に有名人の集まりというのではなく、単に激しいメタルというだけでもない。全員がシーンの初期からライヴライヴライヴ……で生き抜いてきたからこそ、本物の80年代スラッシュが毛穴からも吹き出し、今なおアンサンブルも鉄壁なのです。SLAYER亡き今、最強はTESTAMENT以外にあり得ない。それを千の言葉よりも雄弁なスラッシュ・メタルで叩きつけてくれる１枚。どうぞ、徹底的にぶちのめされてください！
