ということで今回新たに公開されたミラード・マスターは同イベントから何とスティングのステージ。その公開によって彼はポリスのコンサートに出向いたことはなかったものの、スティングのソロは彼にとって好みのサウンドだったらしく、おなじく88年の彼のソロのステージまで録音されていると今回明らかにされています。
となれば「HUMAN RIGHTS NOW!」ショウでもスティングの出番でテープを回してくれたのは納得。ただしトレイシー・チャップマンの時と同様テープの保存状態に問題があったらしく、今回もモノラル化された状態で公開されました。
よっていつものミラード・クオリティ的な音像の近さはないのですが、それでも録音バランスは上々で、複数のアーティストが登場するフェス的なショウながら周囲でお喋りが過ぎるオーディエンスもなく、相変わらずの聞きやすさは流石。

このツアーに参加したアーティストの多くがそうであったように、スティングもまたそれまで行われていた自身のツアーから凝縮したような構成の短縮セットを披露しています。ところが今回のミラード・マスターで明らかとなったのは、こうしたパッケージツアー用の短縮セットですらスティングはセットリストを大胆に変えていたという事実。
当時のスティングは名作「NOTHING LIKE THE SUN」をヒットさせてソロ・アーティストとして人気の絶頂にあり、同アルバムを引っ提げたツアーは前年の11月から開始していた。
そんな中で「HUMAN RIGHTS NOW!」ツアーのコンセプトの提唱者でもあったスティングもまたそれまで自身が行っていたツアーの短縮版で回ることになった訳ですが、この日の彼は「We’ll Be Together」や「Englishman In New York」を大胆にもカット。どちらも今でこそスティング・クラシックと化していますが、それらも当時はリリースしたての新曲でしかなかった。
結果としてポリス・ナンバーの配合率が高まった訳ですが、なるほど自身のファン以外も集うイベント・ライブであれば懸命な処置かと。

それだけではありません、「HUMAN RIGHTS NOW!」ツアーといえば最終日ブエノスアイレスの超高音質サウンドボード「FRAGILIDAD」がリリースされていましたが、それから約三週間前のここLAでは何とセットリストがかなり違っていた。
スプリングスティーンを始めとして同ツアーに参加したアーティストはほぼセットリスト固定で毎晩のステージをこなしていた訳ですが、そこはソロ・アーティストとして攻めに攻めていた時期のスティング。同じポリス時代のナンバーでもこの日は「When The World Is Running Down, You Make The Best Of What’s Still Around」を取り上げ、さらには最新アルバムから「They Dance Alone」を披露するなど、短期のパッケージツアーだというのに選曲を変えてみせているところに絶頂期の余裕を見せてつけてくれる。
そしてミラード録音ならではの嫌味のない絶妙な臨場感も優等生サウンドボードのブエノスアイレスとは違う大きな魅力。何よりスティングに関してはブエノスアイレス一択の感があった「HUMAN RIGHTS NOW!」ツアーからミラード・マスターが衝撃の発掘
