Introducing this time is the US original stereo version of England’s Newest Hit Makers, which is Stones’ 1st album in the US. The mono version was released in May 1964, but the stereo version was released in May 1965 the following year. In addition, this US stereo board is on sale as a pseudo-stereo board. As you know, this analog UK version was only released as a mono version, and the US version was in circulation at least after the 1970s. The difference between the UK version and the US version is that the US version is recorded by cutting Not Fade Away and Mona in the first song. Also, Tell Me is not a version that exceeds 4 minutes, but a version that was edited in the 3 minutes. Of course, the demo version recorded in the first edition of the UK edition is not included in the US edition at all. By the way, the features of this album are the recording in pseudo-stereo that you do not notice even if you listen to it, and the cutting at a fairly high sound pressure is a big feature. Also, the label only says THE ROLLING STONES, so the original title of this album may be THE ROLLING STONES, which is similar to the UK. I think this album had the most familiar specifications for the pseudo-stereo board in Japan. Also, after the 2nd album, albums with completely different contents will be released in the United States and Britain. And the appearance of the real stereo board is from Aftermath, which is the 6th album in the US, and all the stereo boards up to that point were released as pseudo-stereo boards. The pseudo-stereo record that was often used in the past analog records is now old. Enjoy the nostalgic pseudo-stereo sound on the original US stereo board!
今回ご紹介するのはストーンズのUSでの1stアルバムであるEngland’s Newest Hit MakersのUSオリジナルステレオ盤です。モノ盤は64年5月に発売されましたがステレオ盤は翌年65年5月に発売されています。またこのUSステレオ盤は擬似ステレオ盤での発売となっています。ご存知の通りこのアナログのUK盤はモノ盤での発売しかなくUS盤は少なくとも70年代以降はこの擬似ステレオ盤が流通していました。UK盤とUS盤の違いはUS盤は1曲目にNot Fade AwayそしてMonaをカットして収録しているところです。またTell Meは4分を超えるバージョンではなく3分代に編集されたバージョンの収録となっています。もちろんUK盤初回盤に収録されたデモ・バージョンはUS盤には一切収録されていません。さて本アルバムの特徴は一聴しても気づかない擬似ステレオでの収録、そして随分高音圧でのカッティングが大きな特徴に感じられます。またレーベルにはTHE ROLLING STONESとのみ表記があるのでもしかして本来のこのアルバムのタイトルはUK同様のTHE ROLLING STONESなのかも知れません。日本ではこのアルバムは擬似ステレオ盤がいちばん馴染みのある仕様だったのではないのでしょうか。また2ndアルバム以降は英米では全く異なる内容のアルバムが発売されていくことになります。そしてリアルステレオ盤の登場はUSでは6thアルバムであるAftermathからであり、それまでのステレオ盤は全て擬似ステレオ盤での発売だったということになります。過去のアナログ盤ではよくあった擬似ステレオ盤は今や昔。懐かしの擬似ステレオサウンドをオリジナルUSステレオ盤でお楽しみください！
