January 10, 2023 The news of the death of Jeff Beck, one of Britain’s leading guitarists, shocked and saddened the world. “Black and Blue” Memorial Special Edition, including a historical co-starring rehearsal with the Rolling Stones, who were active in the same era since the 1960s, is now available from the GOLDPLATE label in memory of Jeff Beck!

In early 1975, many guitarist candidates were rumored with Mick Taylor’s departure. During a secret studio rehearsal held at the Stones Mobile Unit (mobile studio) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, candidates for the next guitarist such as Rory Gallagher, Steve Marriott, and Mick Ronson were called one after another. Jeff Beck, who has just completed his solo album “Blow by Blow”, participates. Although it is said that he refused to join the Stones, the rehearsal at this time was recorded secretly. In the past, GOLDPLATE released this sound source as “BLACK AND BLUE REHEARSALS” as a set of 4 CDs, but there are many tracks without Jeff Beck and redundant jam sessions, and Jeff Beck is definitely participating this time. Carefully selected tracks and highlights recorded on 1 CD (2 CDs). Interesting performances such as slow blues, funky jams, and “Freeway Jam” from the album “Blow By Blow” are summarized. The other (CD1) contains an unreleased studio session in Munich, Germany after the Rotterdam rehearsal. Although it is an outtake of this period that has been circulated so far, many of them had poor sound quality. This time, it is a new edited collection that selects sound sources with good sound quality. Although this is not a co-starring sound source with Jeff Beck, it is the latest remastered version of the “Black and Blue” session in 1975 at the same time. This is a Jeff Beck memorial special collection from the GOLDPLATE label, which combines the valuable co-star rehearsals and session sound sources of Stones and Jeff Beck, who have been active in the same era since the 1960s.

ミック・テイラー脱退に伴って数々のギタリスト候補が噂された1975年初頭。オランダ・ロッテルダムのストーンズ・モービル・ユニット（移動スタジオ）で秘密裏に行われていたスタジオ・リハーサルではロリー・ギャラガー、スティーブ・マリオット、ミック・ロンソン等の次期ギタリスト候補が続々と呼ばれていた中でソロ・アルバム『ブロウ・バイ・ブロウ』を完成させたばかりのジェフ・ベックが参加。ストーンズ加入を断ったとされているもののこの時のリハーサルは隠密録音で残されていました。GOLDPLATEでは過去に『BLACK AND BLUE REHEARSALS』としてこの音源をCD4枚組でリリースしていましたがジェフ・ベック不参加のトラックや冗長なジャム・セッションも多く今回はジェフ・ベックが確実に参加しているトラックを厳選してCD1枚（CD2）にハイライト収録。スロウなブルースからファンキーなジャムさらにアルバム『ブロウ・バイ・ブロウ』収録の「フリーウェイ・ジャム」を披露したりと興味深い演奏がまとめられています。もう一方（CD1）にはロッテルダム・リハーサル以降のドイツ・ミュンヘンでの未発表スタジオ・セッションを収録。これまで数多く出回ったこの時期のアウトテイクスですが、音質が良くないものも多く含まれていました。今回は音質良好な音源をセレクトした新たな編集コレクションとなっています。こちらはジェフ・ベックとの共演音源ではないものの同時期75年の『ブラック・アンド・ブルー』セッションの最新リマスター・バージョンとなっています。60年代から同時代を活動してきたストーンズとジェフ・ベックの貴重な共演リハーサルとセッション音源をカップリングしたGOLDPLATEレーベルからのジェフ・ベック追悼メモリアル・スペシャル・コレクションです。
