“This Is Not a Drill” by Roger Waters has finally made it to the European continent. A live album that allows you to fully experience the latest stage has arrived.
“March 28, 2023 Milan performance” is imbued in this work. It is the super superb audience recording. “This Is Not a Drill” started in July last year, and the US tour will be completed in the fall. After about 5 months off, the European edition started. Since our shop has been reporting in real time with various masterpieces since the beginning of the tour, let’s review the current state of the tour first, including the collection arrangement.

This is the overall picture of “This Is Not a Drill” that has been published to date. The number of performances has increased since the last report, but on the other hand, in Europe, which is shaken by the Ukrainian war, Roger’s political remarks have become turbulent. In Frankfurt and Munich, the city council requested that the performances be canceled, and two performances in Poland were actually canceled. Although it is expected that the two performances in Germany will be held, the situation remains unpredictable depending on the war situation, such as calls for a boycott of the fans. This work is the first report of the European tour that began in such a disturbing atmosphere. The Milan performance is the 7th performance in the early stage, and it is also the 2nd day of 4 consecutive performances at the same venue.
This work recorded at such a show is a superb audience recording with “super”. No, as a matter of fact, I have to write “audience”, but it is not the sound that I imagine from that word (at all!). The on-and-direct core approaches at zero distance, and the details and separate feeling are sound board grade … No, stop. Even if you list the detailed items, you can only arrange rhymes.
If you want to express this sound, you can say it clearly in one word “FM broadcasting / official grade”. If you listen with headphones, you can hear a slight hall noise, but even that is a perfection like a calculated effect. In reality, it is also “beauty because it is an audience”, but it is no different from an official work to touch it as a music work.
The latest form of “This Is Not a Drill” is depicted with the contradictory sound of a “completely official audience”. There are no changes to the set itself, but it’s been a while, so let’s organize it again.
