The latest work of Millard Master, which is still continuing, was excavated from the 1990 Robert Plant’s “MANIC NIRVANA” American tour.
Until now, Millard has left behind superb recordings such as WARDOUR “SAN DIEGO 1990: MIKE MILLARD MASTER CASSETTES” and UXBRIDGE “IRVINE 1990: MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPE”, and even the items of the “MANIC NIRVANA” tour where items were scarce. It changed the situation.
However, all of these are records from Millard’s participation in the first leg of the American tour in August. This tour has been well received and has been followed by a trip around the United States on the second leg from September with a month off.
Live activities that ignore the ZEP era in the early stages of solo activities are over, and the attitude of the plant, which was blown off from the previous work “NOW AND ZEN”, such as “Nobody’s Fault But Mine” being shown from the beginning of the set list, is further pushed out on this tour. Now
In fact, not only was a large amount of ZEP classics introduced, but the stage performance, which seemed to bring back the plant of yesteryear to the point of singing, also attracted a great deal of attention.

At the start of the second leg, the composition was reviewed and some ZEP repertoires were cut, but on the other hand, the venue was not only the arena but also the theater. It was.
As a result, a show at the Universal Amphitheater in LA was realized on October 31st. That’s right, if a “MANIC NIRVANA” mode plant were to appear at Millard’s favorite venue, it would be natural for him to participate.
On top of that, the experience of completing two recordings in August is a good thing, and this time the highest level of mirrored quality exploded. The sound image is really close, and the recording condition is so wonderful that JEMS this time can be called “punchy and close”.

まだまだ続くミラード・マスターの最新作は1990年ロバート・プラントの『MANIC NIRVANA』アメリカ・ツアーから第三の音源が発掘されました。
これまでもミラードはWARDOUR『SAN DIEGO 1990: MIKE MILLARD MASTER CASSETTES』やUXBRIDGE『IRVINE 1990: MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPE』といった極上録音を遺してくれており、ただでさえアイテムが乏しかった『MANIC NIRVANA』ツアーの状況を一変させてくれたのでした。
ただし、それらはどれもアメリカ行程のファースト・レグでミラードが8月に参戦した際の記録。このツアーは好評が好評を呼んで一か月のオフを挟んで9月からセカンド・レグのアメリカを廻る行程が続いたのです。
ソロ活動初期のZEP時代を顧みないライブ活動も一段落、セットリストの序盤から「Nobody’s Fault But Mine」が披露されるなど前作の『NOW AND ZEN』から吹っ切れたプラントの姿勢がこのツアーではさらに押し出されるようになりました。
実際ZEPクラシックが大量投入されただけにとどまらず、歌いっぷりまで往年のプラントが蘇ったかのようなステージ・パフォーマンスも大きな話題を呼んだのです。
これほどロックなプラントを目の当たりにしたミラードは感銘を受けたのでしょう。そのセカンド・レグでも彼は参戦。
セカンド・レグ開始に際して構成の見直しが図られ、いくつかのZEPレパートリーが削られてしまった反面、会場はアリーナだけでなくシアターにも寄るという当時の成功ぶりを見せつけるような余裕のスケジュールが組まれたのです。
その結果10月31日にはLAのユニバーサル・アンフィシアターでのショウが実現。そうです、ミラードお気に入りの会場に『MANIC NIRVANA』モードのプラントが降臨することとなれば、彼が参戦するのは当然。
おまけに8月に二度の録音を済ませていた経験がモノをいい、今回も最高レベルのミラード・クオリティが炸裂。音像は実に近く、今回のJEMSをして「punchy and close」と言わしめるほど見事な録音状態。
となればプレスCDでのリリースは必須…と思われたのも束の間、今回の録音はライブ終盤を収めた二本目のカセットが行方不明になってしまったとのことで、まさかの不完全な状態での公開となってしまった。
おまけに見つからなかった二本目にはこのツアーの目玉であったZEPナンバー「Living Loving Maid」が含まれていたとなれば痛恨の極み。
よって極上音質でありながら今回は断腸のCD-Rリリースとなってしまうのですが、それでも抜群のクオリティで聞かれる『MANIC NIRVANA』ツアーの貴重なシアターショウが楽しめるのは至福。
8月の時と違って「Billy’s Revenge」にドアーズの「Break On Through」がインクルードされた展開がこれまた素晴らしい音質で聞かれるのも貴重。この後ペイジ・プラントのステージまで引き継がれるドアーズ展開の芽生えがここにあったのですね。
それに怪我の功名といっては何ですが、CD一枚のサイズでサクッと楽しめる聞きやすさも意外な魅力。何よりあれだけアイテムに事欠いていた『MANIC NIRVANA』ツアーがこれほどまで揃ってくるとは良い時代になったものです。おまけにミラード録音で！
