Phil Collins in 1983, who made “FACE VALUE” and “HELLO, I MUST BE GOING!” A big hit and was more successful than GENESIS as a solo singer. Introducing the finest soundboard album that conveys his first solo tour.
“January 28, 1983 normal performance” is included in this work. This is a stereo sound board recording recorded in the first act of “HELLO, I MUST BE GOING Tour”. This is Phil Collins from 1982 to 1984. One month after the reunion “SIX OF THE BEST” with Peter Gabriel, “HELLO, I MUST BE GOING!” Was released, and the tour started without a break. I traveled all over the United States in the shape of the year-end and New Year holidays. Speaking of “HELLO, I MUST BE GOING Tour”, the official video “LIVE AT PERKINS PALACE” has reigned as a symbol, but it is “North America # 1” at the end of the year. On the other hand, the normal performance of this work was the 7th performance of “North America # 2” which was changed in the year.
It has been known that such a show was left with a sound board recording, but it was not well known as a standard. The main cause is pitch. It was recorded so late that I could clearly understand it when I listened to it, and it was a rather disappointing sound. If this was the one and only soundboard, a modified version would have been available immediately, but there are other superb soundboards on this tour that have been overlooked. In this work, overseas enthusiasts have completely repaired such a “forgotten sound board”. It is a new masterpiece that has been raised to the decisive board level at once.
In fact, the quality of this work was overwhelming, saying, “Did you really miss such a treasure !?” The early story is “completely official class”. In fact, even if you listen to “LIVE AT PERKINS PALACE” alternately, it is not inferior at all. Strictly speaking, the balance that is far from the big cheers is really a mix table direct connection system, and in that respect it is hard to say that it is “official style”. However, during the performance, “LIVE AT PERKINS PALACE” does not have the presence of the audience, and I do not really feel the quality difference from this work.
Actually, the skill of overseas enthusiasts who also worked on this quality. Not only is the pitch corrected, but the overall sound is well mastered. The sound is improved, and the left and right stereo feeling and phase are also corrected. The volume that was changing randomly is also stabilized. Of course, it was realized because there was room for growth in the original sound, but the delicate work is also blurred.
The whole body sound is drawn by a hit parade that concentrates and reduces the masterpieces of “FACE VALUE” and “HELLO, I MUST BE GOING!”. It doesn’t seem to be full due to the lack of the encore last “People Get Ready”, but you can still enjoy a much larger repertoire than “LIVE AT PERKINS PALACE”. Let’s sort out the luxury here.

これが1982年ー1984年のフィル・コリンズ。ピーター・ガブリエルとの再結成“SIX OF THE BEST”の1ヶ月後には『HELLO, I MUST BE GOING!』をリリースし、間髪入れずツアーも開始。年末年始を挟むカタチで全米も巡りました。“HELLO, I MUST BE GOING Tour”と言えば公式映像『LIVE AT PERKINS PALACE』が象徴として君臨してきたわけですが、それは年末「北米#1」。それに対し、本作のノーマル公演は年の改まった「北米#2」の7公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなショウはサウンドボード録音が残された事でも知られてきましたが、今ひとつ定番としての知名度はありませんでした。その主たる原因はピッチ。聴いていてハッキリ分かるほど遅く記録されており、やや残念なサウンドだった。これが唯一無二のサウンドボードであったなら即修正版が出回ったのでしょうが、このツアーには他にも極上サウンドボードがあり、見逃されてきたのです。本作は、そんな「忘れられてきたサウンドボード」を海外マニアが完全修復。一気に決定盤レベルに引き上げた新名盤なのです。
実際、本作のクオリティは「本当にこんなお宝を見逃してたの!?」とド肝を抜かれる。早い話が「完全オフィシャル級」。実際『LIVE AT PERKINS PALACE』と交互に聴いてもまったく遜色がないのです。厳密に言いますと、大歓声も遠いバランスはいかにもミックス卓直結系でして、その点では「オフィシャル風」とは言いがたい。しかし、演奏中は『LIVE AT PERKINS PALACE』も観客の存在感がなく、本当に本作とのクオリティ差を感じないのです。
実は、このクオリティも手掛けた海外マニアの手腕。単にピッチを補正しているだけでなく、全体のサウンドもしっかりとマスタリング。鳴りを向上させ、左右のステレオ感や位相も修正。ランダムに変化していたボリュームもビシッと安定させている。もちろん、原音に伸びしろがあったからこそ実現したわけでもありますが、その緻密な作業ぶりも滲んでくるのです。
そんな渾身のサウンドで描かれるのは、『FACE VALUE』『HELLO, I MUST BE GOING!』の名曲群を濃縮還元したヒット・パレード。アンコール・ラストの「People Get Ready」がないためにフルではないようですが、それでも『LIVE AT PERKINS PALACE』より遙かに大量のレパートリーが楽しめる。ここでその豪華ぶりも整理しておきましょう。
