2001 was a mild transition for the oasis. This year, there was no tour that doubled as an album promotion, but instead, two planned tours were realized. In the first half of the year, a brotherhood tour jointed with The Black Crowes was realized in the United States. The release of the finest audience “CHICAGO 2001 DAT MASTER” from there is also new to my memory.
Furthermore, the “10 YEARS OF NOISE AND CONFUSION” tour was held in the UK in the second half of the year, with a single visit to Japan at Fuji Rock (also “FUJI ROCK 2001 DAT MASTER” is now on sale).
The epoch-making part of this short-term tour was that the oasis, which completely turned into a stadium rock band from the following year, was held only in the theater class as if it returned to the origin.
Therefore, it was extremely difficult to obtain a ticket, but fortunately, the gig at Glasgow and Barrowlands on October 13 was filmed and broadcast on TV in the United States and the United Kingdom.
This made it easy to get a glimpse of the 10th anniversary gig, and since the sound was a stereo sound board, many CDs were released.
Of course, video has been widely distributed since that time, but unfortunately, just before the spread of recording using DVD, it will be distributed as a version of recording via analog (= VHS). In addition, there are logos on the screen in each broadcast of the United Kingdom and the United States, and there are versions that have been uploaded without making sense, such as those seen on YouTube due to the problem that the screen size is different from the current one. status quo.
In that respect, this release is based on the version rebroadcast in the UK in 2014, and the image quality is at the highest level that can not be compared with each broadcast version in 2001. Let’s also say that it is the only version that can be enjoyed on current digital and large screen TVs, including screen size.
In the short version, a total of 6 songs have been cut from the 2001 broadcast, such as “Half The World Away” sung by Noel, saying that the two songs before the release and “Live Forever” that were originally cut are unavoidable. There is something wrong with the ball, but the sharpness of this image quality is still strong. The quality is so high that it can be officially released as it is.
Sure enough, on YouTube, you can see the full-length version based on this version, supplementing the missing songs with the 2001 broadcast, but the difference in image quality is not so good, and the 2014 version at the stage of uploading. It hurts because the image quality of is degraded.
Unlike supplementing the sound source, in the case of video, if the image quality is different, a sense of incongruity will inevitably appear, so this time the latest rebroadcast version was released in the best quality.
Because the image quality is the best, the peaceful atmosphere of the precious “10 YEARS OF NOISE AND CONFUSION” hall tour is transmitted to the extent that it is too real. Above all, Noel seems to enjoy his live performance in the hall after a long time, and it can be seen from the fact that he actively makes the audience sing when it comes to the songs he sings.
Liam is also in very good shape, and his early songs such as “Fade Away” and “Slide Away”, which have revived his repertoire after a long time, are sung very nicely. On the day when Liam wasn’t feeling well on the 2001 tour, the performance of these songs fell so badly that his relaxed songs here stand out.
And what is noteworthy about this live video is not only that it captured a valuable short-term tour, but also the angle and cut split that were full of a very musical sense. When it comes to guitar solos, it is natural that Noel’s hands and guitar neck will be doups, and even guest Johnny Marr will firmly hold down the important scene. I even captured the bass drum pedal that Alain stepped on.

Barrowlands, Glasgow, Scotland 13th October 2001 PRO-SHOT
オアシスにとって穏やかな過度期と言えた2001年。この年はアルバム・プロモーションを兼ねたツアーというのがなく、代わりに実現したのが二つの企画ものツアーでした。上半期はブラック・クロウズとジョイントした兄弟愛ツアーがアメリカで実現。そこからの極上オーディエンス「CHICAGO 2001 DAT MASTER」のリリースも記憶に新しいところ。
さらにフジロックでの単発来日（こちらも「FUJI ROCK 2001 DAT MASTER」が大好評発売中）を挟んで下半期は母国イギリスにて「10 YEARS OF NOISE AND CONFUSION」ツアーが行われました。
この短期ツアーが画期的だったところは、翌年から完全にスタジアム・ロック・バンドと化すオアシスが原点に返るかのごとくシアター・クラス限定で行われたということ。
よってチケットの入手は困難を極めたのですが、本当に幸いなことに10月13日のグラスゴー、バロウランズでのギグが撮影されてアメリカとイギリスそれぞれのテレビで放送されました。
これによって結成10周年記念ギグの模様が簡単に垣間見られるようになり、しかも音声がステレオ・サウンドボードだったことからCDも多くリリースされたものです。
もちろん映像の方も当時から広く出回ったものですが、あいにくとDVDを使った録画が普及する直前というタイミングから、アナログを介した録画（=VHS）のバージョンで流通することに。おまけに英米それぞれの放送で画面にロゴが入っており、なおかつ現在とは画面サイズが異なるといった問題からYouTube上で見られるものなど、そのつじつまが合わないままアップロードされてしまったバージョンまであるという現状。
その点、今回リリースされるのは2014年になってイギリスで再放送されたバージョンを元にしており、画質は2001年の各放送バージョンとはまるで比較にならない極上レベル。さらに画面サイズも含め、現在のデジタル＆大画面テレビでも差し支えなく楽しめる唯一のバージョンだと断言いたしましょう。
元々カットされていたリリース前の二曲と「Live Forever」は仕方ないとして、ノエルが歌った「Half The World Away」など、2001年の放送分から合計で6曲もカットされてしまったショートバージョンである点が玉に瑕なのですが、それでもなおこの画質の鮮明さは強烈。このままオフィシャルにリリース出来てしまうほどクオリティの高いもの。
案の定YouTube上では本バージョンを元に、欠落している曲を2001年放送で補った全長版が見られるのですが、その画質の差はいかんともしがたく、またアップロードされた段階で2014年版の画質まで落ちてしまっているのだから痛い。
やはり音源の補填と違い、映像の場合は画質が違うと違和感がどうしても出てしまうことからも、今回は潔く最新再放送バージョンをベスト・クオリティでのリリースという形に相成りました。
何しろ画質が最高なので、貴重な「10 YEARS OF NOISE AND CONFUSION」ホール・ツアーの和やかな雰囲気がリアルすぎるくらいに伝わってくる。中でもノエルは久々のホールでのライブを心から楽しんでいるようで、自身が歌う曲になると積極的に観客に歌わせているところからもそれが伺えます。
またリアムの調子も非常に良く、久々のレパートリー復活となった「Fade Away」や「Slide Away」といった初期の楽曲も凄くいい感じで歌えている。2001年のツアーでリアムの調子が悪い日はこれらの曲の出来がガクンと落ちてしまったほどですので、ここでの彼の伸びやかな歌いっぷりが際立っている。
そして本ライブ映像が特筆すべきは、貴重な短期ツアーを捉えていたというだけでなく、非常に音楽的なセンスに溢れたアングルとカット割り。ギターソロになるとノエルの手とギターネックがドアップになるのは当たり前、ゲストのジョニー・マーですら肝心の場面をしっかり押さえてくれる。極めつけにアランが踏むバスドラムのペダルまで捉えて見せたほど。
このようにショートバージョンである点を差し引いてもあまりある画質の鮮明さ。オアシスの穏やかな過度期2001年を代表するライブ映像を文字通りのベスト・クオリティでじっくり味わってください。
