The legendary sound board recording that has been passed down since its debut is an upgrade! A “genuine Omoto cassette” that transcends even the official was unearthed. Urgent and permanent preservation is decided to be permanent preservation !!
[New excavation of the shocking Omoto cassette master] Two performances are engraved in this work. Stereo sound board recordings of “June 8, 1990 Richfield Performance” and “June 10 Cuyahoga Falls Performance”. I’m sure some of you have already come to this recording, but this recording is a sound board leaked from the people involved who once dominated the world as “2 NIGHTS IN OHIO”. However, this work is neither a copy nor a remastered recurrence. In the past, it was awakened from the DAT master, but this time the cassette master, which is the source of the DAT, has been newly discovered. It is the highest peak update board that was directly transferred from the actual cassette used for recording at the on-site mix table.The shocking thing here is the fact that “DAT was not the origin”. This is a story that also involves the official board “LIVE! RAW LIKE SUSHI”. To explain that, let’s first look back at the schedule at the time of debut.

“October 25,” LIVE! RAW LIKE SUSHI “released”
This is the process from the formation to the production of “LEAN INTO IT”. Except for the legendary first visit to Japan, everything was in North America, and the 1990 edition “North America # 5-6” was also the undercard of RUSH’s “PRESTO Tour”. All the performances were recorded here, and the official live EP “LIVE! RAW LIKE SUSHI” was also produced from some of them. Let’s zoom in on “North America # 6” further and check the relationship with this work.

This is all 19 performances of “North America # 6”. “RAW LIKE SUSHI” was an EP that was knitted by selecting 2 songs from 3 performances. Although this work is in between, it is a separate performance with one song covered. The point here is that “RAW LIKE SUSHI” is proudly credited as “Recorded directly on to DAT from the house mixing console”. In other words, both the official edition and “2 NIGHTS IN OHIO” are brothers’ works born from the DAT master recorded every day. Of course, the quality of both works is exactly the same because they were made in the same environment and equipment. It is natural that it is a so-called “completely official class”.
…… And here is a story that has been believed so far. However, the fact that the cassette master was excavated this time revealed that “the DAT master was a copy, not an original.” There was a strong possibility that not only “2 NIGHTS IN OHIO” but even the official works were produced by the copy master.
And the two performances drawn with such an ultimate sound can be said to be “RAW LIKE SUSHI complete version”. Unfortunately, the Cuyahoga Falls performance (June 10th: the latter half of this work) was in the middle of “How Can You Do What You Do” due to the lack of recording of the opening “Blame It On My Youth”, but the Richfield performance (June) 8th: The first half of this work) is completely recorded. You can fully enjoy the live performance through “Take A Walk” and the guitar solo / bass solo that were cut in the edited work “RAW LIKE SUSHI”. And the awesomeness of that performance. At the time of their debut, any band was burning for success, but this work has a great enthusiasm to challenge RUSH fans beyond their ears. There is no such thing as a bad stage where the masters of each instrument put their skill and sense into it and burn it completely in a short time of less than 40 minutes.
This work is the original upgrade album of “2 NIGHTS IN OHIO”. It is a separate performance from the official “LIVE! RAW LIKE SUSHI”. However, in reality, the content and sound are both “true RAW LIKE SUSHI” and “complete RAW LIKE SUSHI”. Omoto master sound that upsets even the official myth. Enjoy it with a press CD that will leave its brilliance forever!
★ Outflow stereo sound board recording of “June 8, 1990 Richfield performance + June 10, Cuyahoga Falls performance”. The previous edition was created by the DAT master as well as the official EP “LIVE! RAW LIKE SUSHI”, but this time the cassette master, which is the source of it, has been newly discovered. Its quality is completely “exceeding the official”, and the density of the sound and the sense of stability are totally different. “True RAW LIKE SUSHI” that you can fully enjoy live through “Take A Walk” that was cut in “RAW LIKE SUSHI” and bass solo.
★ New mastering from master cassette
★ I haven’t equalized it, but it’s still a dense sound with a lot more information than the previous CDR board. It extends well to the high range, and you can see the difference in the brightness of the sound between songs.

【衝撃の大元カセット・マスターが新発掘】
そんな本作に刻まれているのは２公演。「1990年６月８日リッチフィールド公演」と「６月10日カヤホガ・フォールズ公演」のステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。もうピンと来た方もいらっしゃると思いますが、この録音はかつて『2 NIGHTS IN OHIO』として一世を風靡した関係者流出サウンドボード。しかし、本作はそのコピーでもなければ、リマスター再発でもありません。従来はDATマスターから起こされていたのですが、この度そのDATの大元となるカセット・マスターが新発掘。現場ミックス卓で録音に使われたカセット現物からダイレクトにトランスファーされた最高峰更新盤なのです。
ここで衝撃なのは「DATが大元ではなかった」という事実。これはオフィシャル盤『LIVE! RAW LIKE SUSHI』も絡んでくる話。その辺をご説明するためにも、まずはデビュー当時のスケジュールから振り返ってみましょう。

《10月25日『LIVE! RAW LIKE SUSHI』発売》
これが結成から『LEAN INTO IT』制作に至るまでの歩み。伝説的な初来日以外はすべて北米でして、その中でも1990年編「北米#5-6」はRUSHの“PRESTO Tour”の前座でもありました。ここでは全公演が録音され、そのうちの一部から公式ライヴEP『LIVE! RAW LIKE SUSHI』も制作されました。ここで「北米#6」をさらにズームアップし、本作との関係をチェックしてみましょう。

これが「北米#6」の全19公演。『RAW LIKE SUSHI』は３公演から２曲ずつセレクトして編まれたEPでした。本作はその合間でありつつ、１曲も被って別公演なのです。ここでポイントなのは『RAW LIKE SUSHI』には堂々と「Recorded directly on to DAT from the house mixing console」とクレジットされている事。つまり、公式盤も『2 NIGHTS IN OHIO』も連日録音されたDATマスターから誕生した兄弟作。当然、同じ環境・機材で製作されたのですから両作のクオリティは完全一致。いわゆる「完全オフィシャル級」で当然なのです。
……と、ココまでがこれまで信じられてきた話。ところが、今回カセット・マスターが発掘されたで明らかになったのは「DATマスターは大元ではなくコピーだった」という事実。『2 NIGHTS IN OHIO』だけでなく、公式作品さえもがコピー・マスターから制作されていたという可能性が濃厚になったのです。
【オフィシャルも超越した大元カセット・サウンド】
「おい待て。今回のカセットの方がコピーじゃないのか？」と思われるかも知れません。しかし、その可能性を完全に払拭してしまうのが、本作の大幅アップグレード・サウンドなのです。従来盤『2 NIGHTS IN OHIO』と比べても音の密度やビシッとした安定感がまるで違い、１音１音が立ち上がる際には弦や皮の存在まで感じられ、消音の刹那には虚空へ吸い込まれていく端の端まで綺麗に残されている。この感覚は、公式リマスターに喩えた方が分かりやすいかも知れません。従来盤はオフィシャル名盤を経年劣化したカセットで聴くような感覚だとするなら、本作は「モービル・フィディリティ」「ニンバス・スーパーカット」のような高音質CDシリーズ。いかに同じ極上サウンドボードであっても、サウンドの質は全然違うレベルにあるのです。
そして、そんな究極サウンドで描かれる２公演は「RAW LIKE SUSHI完全版」とでも言えるもの。残念ながらカヤホガ・フォールズ公演（６月10日：本作後半）はオープニング「Blame It On My Youth」が録音漏れで「How Can You Do What You Do」の途中からですが、リッチフィールド公演（６月８日：本作前半）は完全収録。編集作だった『RAW LIKE SUSHI』ではカットされていた「Take A Walk」やギターソロ／ベースソロも通しライヴでたっぷり楽しめるのです。そして、その演奏の凄まじさ。どんなバンドでもデビュー当時は成功を目指して燃えているものですが、本作は耳に超えたRUSHファンに挑むような熱気が凄い。各楽器の達人たちがよってたかって技術とセンスの限りを注ぎ込み、40分弱という短い持ち時間で完全燃焼するステージが悪かろうハズがないのです。
本作はあくまで『2 NIGHTS IN OHIO』の大元アップグレード・アルバム。公式『LIVE! RAW LIKE SUSHI』とは別公演です。しかし、実質的には内容もサウンドも「真のRAW LIKE SUSHI」であり「完全版RAW LIKE SUSHI」となる超名盤なのです。オフィシャルの通説までもひっくり返す大元マスター・サウンド。その輝きを永久に残すプレスCDで存分にお楽しみください！
