The latest MSG in 2022, which has been talked about as “Reunion McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP”. Introducing a superb view video that allows you to witness the stage.
This work was shot at “May 10, 2022 Madrid performance”. It is the superb view audience shot. Some may say, “Huh? Wasn’t it Ronnie Romero last year?” In fact, the main singer of the current MSG is Romero, and Robin is acting on behalf of him only on a limited schedule. Let’s leave the whole picture of that area to the explanation of “SPEYER 2022 (Shades 1522)” which will be released at the same time, but here let’s sort out the positional relationship of the two works this week only for the show in which Robin participates.

This is a total of 15 performances with Robin scheduled this year. In addition to the European Tour just before the release of the album, which was completed the other day, Robin will participate in the UK festival in July, and Romero is a singer on dates other than the above. Under such circumstances, the performance of this work in Madrid was the 10th concert of the European Tour. Also, the current MSG side guitar and keyboard is Steve Mann, and the drums are Baudou Shohoff. With the addition of Robin here, it is almost in a reunion state, “4/5 is McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP”.
This work recorded at such a show is a superb view image that makes you want to think “Maybe a related person shot?” After all, the position, stability and camera work are too exquisite. Therefore, although the complete live album “SPEYER 2022” is more suitable for tasting more famous songs, the real thrill of being able to witness the site of the bookkeeping tour from the special seats is irreplaceable.
It has been 30 years since the collapse of McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP. I was surprised by Robin’s unabated singing voice in the re-co-starring in 2012, but 10 years later, it hasn’t changed (at all). Even the successive singers that Michael has teamed up with are definitely ironmen. What is recorded in this work is a valuable show with Steve Mann / Baudou Schhof. The site of “petit reunion” that you wouldn’t expect in Japan. Please burn it in the eye-catching warehouse with this work.

そんな本作が撮影されたのは「2022年５月10日マドリード公演」。その絶景オーディエンス・ショットです。「あれ？　去年はロニー・ロメロじゃなかった？」という方もいらっしゃるでしょう。実は現行MSGのメイン・シンガーはロメロで、限られた日程のみロビンが代行しているのです。その辺の全体像は同時リリースとなる『SPEYER 2022（Shades 1522）』の解説に譲るとしまして、ここではロビン参加のショウだけに限定して今週２作の位置関係を整理してみましょう。

これが今年予定されているロビンとの全15公演。つい先日完遂されたアルバム発売前の欧州ツアーの他、７月の英国フェスでロビンが参加する事になっており、上記以外の日程ではロメロがシンガーです。そんな中で本作のマドリード公演は欧州ツアー10公演目にあたるコンサートでした。また、現行MSGのサイド・ギター＆キーボードはスティーヴ・マンですし、ドラムにボードー・ショホフ。ここにロビンが加わった事により「4/5がMcAULEY SCHENKER GROUP」というほとんどリユニオン状態なのです。
そんなショウで記録された本作は「もしかして関係者ショット？」と勘ぐりたくなる絶景映像。何しろ、ポジションも安定感もカメラワークも絶妙すぎる。まずポジションですが、会場後方からのワンカメ撮影なのですが、視点が妙に高い。１階アリーナ客の頭上を素通りしてステージを直視。観客が盛大に腕を上げても遮蔽物とならず、見どころを見放題なのです。しかも、安定感が抜群。視点の高さとも考え合わせると、三脚を使っているのでしょう。
そんな絶景で描かれるのは、盟友ロビンによって染め変えられた名曲群。ロビンとの共演と言うと、熱心なコレクター諸兄なら2012年の映像作『FEATURING ROBIN McAULEY』もご記憶かも知れません。比較しながら整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。残念ながらこの映像はフルではなく、ところどころカットもある。そのため名曲群をより多く味わうには完全ライヴアルバム『SPEYER 2022』の方が適しているものの、記帳ツアーの現場を特等席から目撃できる醍醐味は何物にも代え難いのです。
McAULEY SCHENKER GROUP崩壊から30年。2012年の再共演でもロビンの衰え知らずな歌声に驚きましたが、それから10年を経た現在でもまだ（まったく）変わっていない。マイケルが組んできた歴代シンガーでも、間違いなくズバ抜けた鉄人です。本作に記録されているのは、さらにスティーヴ・マン／ボードー・ショホフまで揃った貴重なショウなのです。日本では望めないであろう「プチ再結成」の現場。どうぞ、本作で目な庫に焼き付けてください。
