The daimyo board “God (The Michael Schenker Group)” has established a unique HR style full of architectural beauty, jumping beyond the framework of a mere famous soloist. Introducing the superb sound board album that can be said to be the live performance version.
The engraving on this work is “September 25, 1980 London performance”. It is a stereo sound board recording recorded at the traditional famous venue “Hammersmith Odeon”. Normally, I would like to introduce the tour schedule here, but MSG has extremely few materials, and especially in the early days, there are many contradictions in multiple materials (bitter smile). I will omit it here, but there is no doubt that this show is in the very early stages. It is three days before the popular “DERBY 1980 (Zodiac 138)” in our shop, and some materials have made their debut 4th performance.
And this show is also the most famous in the early days of MSG. I’m sure some of you are already coming, but not only was “Into The Arena” adopted for the single B-side, but a long version was unearthed as an official bootleg more than 10 years ago. The long CD was out of print a long time ago, but this work is based on the highest peak master equivalent to the official sound board, and is complemented by audience recording on the same day. It is a two-disc set that has updated the longest and highest peaks.
The quality is superb and superb without any questions. If you have experienced the official version, you may have been shocked by the superb sound experience, but this work is also completely over five minutes. For those who haven’t experienced it yet, the type is the so-called “mixed table direct connection system”. Although there are cheers between songs, it is far farther than the performance, and the super-thick performance sound and singing voice are directly poured into the ears. You can hardly expect the experience of the concert hall, but the sense of unity with the band is enormous, and you get drunk with the sense of synchronization that the performance itself and the brain are perfectly matched. In addition, I am happy that it is stereo. Speaking of early MSG, the famous program “ROCK PALAST” is also a big standard, but since it is not a TV broadcast in this work, you can enjoy a beautifully separated stereo feeling.
The ultimate quality is a full show that can be called a “live performance version of the flying arrow”. It is even longer than the “ROCKPALAST” mentioned earlier. Let’s organize by comparing here.

… And it looks like this. The two songs that aren’t in “ROCK PALAST 1981” are also delicious, but what I feel more than that is “almost God.” The selection and song order are reminiscent of the debut work “God”, “Bijou Pleasurette” was replaced with “Natural Thing”, and “Rock Bottom” was inserted between “Looking Out From Nowhere” and “Tales Of Mystery”. It’s just.
By the way, the question here is “Which song complements the audience?”, But from the conclusion, “All songs sound board!”. To tell the truth, the sound board was left for all the performance parts. Then, what complemented it was the opening part where the tape of “The Ride Of The Valkyries” was played in the hall. The SE, which includes the lines of the movie, is recorded for more than 3 minutes, and after the mood is excited, it rushes into the best sound board.
It is a transcendental sound board album that recreates “God” with the “Myth” lineup with Cozy Powell and adds a bonus to the UFO number. Not only the literally complete official quality, but also the stereo feeling that could not be expected in TV broadcasting is an overwhelming masterpiece sound board, and the decisive board that updated the longest and highest peak. ★ Superb stereo sound board recording of “September 25, 1980 Hammersmith Odeon Performance”. It is a sound board that is famous for its single B-side and official bootleg, but it is the longest version that was realized by utilizing the audience on the same day. The transcendental quality, which is the highest peak of the mix table direct connection system, has a great stereo feeling unlike the ROCKPALAST pro shot. It is a transcendental two-disc set that can be said to be a “flying arrow with cozy / live performance” where all songs except “Bijou Pleasurette” are shown from the debut work.

単なる名ソリストの枠を飛び越え、構築美溢れる独自のHRスタイルまで確立した大名盤『神（帰ってきたフライング・アロウ）』。その生演奏版とも言える超極上サウンドボード・アルバムが登場です。

そんな本作に刻まれているのは「1980年９月25日ロンドン公演」。伝統の名会場“ハマースミス・オデオン”で記録されたステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。普段ならここでツアー・スケジュールをご紹介するところですが、MSGは極端に資料が少なく、特に黎明期は複数の資料で矛盾もたくさん（苦笑）。ここでは割愛させていただきますが、このショウが極初期なのは間違いない。当店で大人気の『DERBY 1980（Zodiac 138）』よりさらに３日前であり、資料によってはデビュー４公演目としているものもあるくらいなのです。
そして、このショウは黎明期MSGでもっとも有名でもある。もうピンと来ている方もいらっしゃると思いますが、「Into The Arena」がシングルＢ面に採用されただけでなく、10年以上前にオフィシャル・ブートレッグとして長尺版が発掘されもしました。その長尺版CDもとっくの昔に廃盤となっているわけですが、本作はその公式サウンドボードと同等の最高峰マスターをベースにしつつ、さらに同日のオーディエンス録音で補完。最長・最高峰を更新した２枚組なのです。
そのクオリティは、問答無用に超・極上。オフィシャル版を体験された方なら超絶級のサウンド体験に衝撃を受けられたと思いますが、本作も完全に五分以上。未体験の方のためにご紹介しますと、タイプとしてはいわゆる「ミックス卓直結系」。曲間の歓声もあるにはあるものの演奏よりも遙かに遠く、超極太の演奏音と歌声が耳に直接流し込まれる。コンサート会場の体験感はほとんど望めない代わりに、バンドとの一体感は絶大で演奏そのものと脳髄が完全一致するシンクロ感に酔えるのです。さらに加えてステレオなのが嬉しい。黎明期MSGと言えば、名物番組“ROCK PALAST”も大定番ですが、本作ではTV放送ではないので綺麗にセパレートしたステレオ感までしっかりと味わえるのです。
その究極クオリティで描かれるのは、「生演奏版のフライング・アロウ」とでも言えるフルショウ。先述した“ROCKPALAST”よりもさらに長尺なのです。ここで比較しながら整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。『ROCK PALAST 1981』にない２曲も美味しいのですが、それ以上に感じるのが「ほとんど神」。セレクトも曲順もデビュー作『神』を彷彿とさせまして、「Bijou Pleasurette」を「Natural Thing」に差し替え、「Looking Out From Nowhere」と「Tales Of Mystery」の間に「Rock Bottom」を差し込んだだけなのです。
さて、ここで気になるのが「どの曲がオーディエンス補完？」なのですが、結論から申しますと「全曲サウンドボード！」。実を申しますと、演奏パートはすべてサウンドボードが残されていたのです。ではどころ補完したのかというと場内に「The Ride Of The Valkyries」のテープが流れる開演パート。映画の台詞も入るＳＥを３分以上も長く収録しており、気分をググッと盛り上げてから極上サウンドボードに突入していくのです。
コージー・パウエル入りの『神話』ラインナップで『神』をそっくり作り直し、さらにUFOナンバーまでボーナス追加したような超絶サウンドボード・アルバムです。文字通りの完全オフィシャル級クオリティだけでなく、TV放送では望めなかったステレオ感も圧倒的な名作サウンドボードであり、その最長・最高峰を更新した決定盤。どうぞ、永久保存プレス２CDで存分にお楽しみください。
