METALLICA history … No, 2022 was the biggest pro shot harvest in heavy metal history. A special pro shot that concludes it is here.
This work was filmed on “December 16, 2022 in Los Angeles”. It is a multi-camera pro shot when appearing in the charity event “All Within My Hands” launched by METALLICA himself. As you may know if you have noticed this article, the 2022 METALLICA Pro Shot is abnormal. A total of 12 full pro shots, which are usually OK with 1 or 2 shots, will come out one after another. I think that this work will be the last one in terms of schedule, so let’s list the collection again.

All 12 above. All of them are full official full pro shots, but this work is the final work and it is a special one that is different from any other. The meaning of “special” is the content of the show without taking it back. The other 11 were different sets, but they were normal style live performances, but this work is different. It consists of two parts, “first half = acoustic set” / “second half = electric set”.
This alone is special enough, but there are also covers and new songs that will be unveiled in Japan for the first time, as well as guest appearances only for this day. It is a “special” performance because it is a charity event. Let’s organize the set here to see what special songs will pop out.

First and foremost, the first half of the acoustic set. I was wondering if I had heard anything about the disturbing riff that James slowly started playing, and then I sang “Blackened”! “When that intense song becomes acoustic, it’s like a completely different song.” Not only the acoustic version of “Blackened”, but also THIN LIZZY’s “Borderline” and UFO’s “It’s Killing Me” were unveiled for the first time on this day. Even so, I didn’t expect to bring “Johnny the Heron” and hidden masterpieces from the Paul Chapman era. As always, the cover sense is exquisitely twisted. As expected, this is METALLICA.
The electric version with set changes in between is also not straightforward. The start of “The Call Of Ktulu” that gradually begins is a surprise, and above all, the new song “Lux Aterna”! The new work “72 SEASONS” scheduled to be released in April was released in advance, but this is the first day for the stage performance.
“Another highlight is the guests.” The acoustic version will be supported by Avi Vinocle, who has participated in “All Within My Hands” and “S&M2” so far, and the Grammy award-winning singer Saint Vincent will appear in the electric version. Let me hear a duet with James on “Nothing Else Matters”.
In 2022, a large number of completely official long professional shots were born. I was a little spoiled, but at the very end, a masterpiece that was too special jumped in. そんな本作が撮影されたのは「2022年12月16日ロサンゼルス公演」。METALLICA自身が立ち上げたチャリティ・イベント“All Within My Hands”に出演した際のマルチカメラ・プロショットです。本稿に目を留められた方ならご存知と思いますが、2022年のMETALLICAプロショットは異常。普段なら１ー２本もあればOKなフル・プロショットが次から次へと出るわ出るわの合計12本。本作は日程的にも最後の１本となると思いますので、改めてコレクションを一覧してみましょう。

以上の全12本。すべて完全オフィシャル級のフル・プロショットなわけですが、本作はその最終作にして、他のどれとも異なる特別な１本なのです。その「特別」の意味は、取りも直さずショウの内容。他の11本はセットこそ違えど通常スタイルのライヴだったわけですが、本作だけは違う。二部構成になっており、「前半＝アコースティック・セット」／「後半＝エレクトリック・セット」となっているのです。
これだけでも十分にスペシャルなのですが、さらに本邦初公開となるカバーや新曲、さらにはこの日だけのゲストまで登場。チャリティ・イベントだからこその「特別」公演なのです。では、どんな特別曲が飛び出すのか、ここでセットも整理してみましょう。

まず何より、前半のアコースティック・セット。ジャイムズがおもむろに弾き出す不穏なリフに、聴いた事あるような、ないような……と思っているところで歌い出したのは「Blackened」！　あの激烈曲がアコースティックになるとまるで違う曲のようです。「Blackened」のアコースティック・バージョンだけでなく、THIN LIZZYの「Borderline」やUFOの「It’s Killing Me」もこの日が初披露。それにしても『サギ師ジョニー』やポール・チャップマン時代の隠れ名曲を持ってくるとは。相変わらず絶妙にヒネりを効かせたカバーセンス。さすが、さすがMETALLICAです。
セット・チェンジを挟んでのエレクトリック篇も一筋縄では行かない。じんわりと始まる「The Call Of Ktulu」スタートから意表を突きますし、何より新曲の「Lux Aterna」！　4月発売予定の新作『72 SEASONS』から先行公開されていましたが、ステージ披露はやはりこの日が初です。
もう１つ注目なのがゲスト。アコースティック篇にはこれまでの“All Within My Hands”や『S&M2』にも参加したアヴィ・ヴィノクルがサポートに付き、エレクトリック篇ではグラミー賞シンガーのセイント・ヴィンセントが登場。「Nothing Else Matters」でジェイムズとデュエットを聴かせてくれます。
