In 2011, METALLICA resumed its world tour in the spring of 2022, which had been an event-like show while overcoming the new Corona disaster. The kick-off place was South America. This is the current METALLICA. As you can see, all 6 South American tour performances have been made into professional shots. Forty years of METALLICA history … No, it’s a unique achievement in rock / metal history. As expected, METALLICA, which has continued to break new ground in entertainment, seems to be not what they planned. The Buenos Aires performance is an exception because it was delivered, but it seems that the remaining 5 performances have been leaked. On the official website, only 3 songs are released for free per park, and even if the full version is uploaded to a major video site, it is deleted in haste. The strange thing is that not all the performances were leaked at once, but every performance came out one after another as the tour progressed. Is the official left without locating the source of the leak?
The quality of this series is superb and superb, which makes me worry about such a mistake (?). Speaking of leaked pro shots, it is usually a video to be shown on the screen, and then it tends to be full of members up for distant customers. However, this series has a well-balanced angle like a broadcast pro shot, and switching is perfect. It is a work-like perfection that can be called “completely official grade” in the true sense. He also holds the deadly “Whiplash” and “Creeping Death”, but at the same time, he also selects the groovy “Holier Than Thou / Fuel” and “No Leaf Clover” while also mixing “Spit Out The Bone”, which is a balance that seems to be a recent show. I can get a glimpse of the feeling. Under such circumstances, “Dirty Window” will be the role of surprise. It was also performed at last year’s 40th anniversary concert, but that was the first time in 10 years since the 30th anniversary concert. Before that, it goes back to the time when “ST. ANGER” was released. In other words, it was thought that the song would not be played unless it was “○ Anniversary”, but it wasn’t expected that it would be replayed soon. It’s a skillful band that is completely surprising.
Also, please check “CURITIBA 2022” to enjoy this work. Both of these two performances are a set that emphasizes variety, but there is little song cover. It is a sister work that is a great combination in terms of the number of types of songs, while enjoying various expressions such as fast / groovy / melodious.

2011年は新型コロナ禍を乗り越えつつもイベント的なショウに終始していたMETALLICAがワールド・ツアーを再開させたのは、2022年の春。そのキックオフ地が南米でした。世界中の注目に応えるようにフル・プロショットが登場したわけですが、驚きなのはその本数。南米レッグ６公演すべてのマルチカメラ・プロショットが勢揃いしてしまったのです。今週は、その最後の５作目・６作目が同時リリース。本作は、シリーズ第5弾にあたる「2022年５月10日サンパウロ公演」のマルチカメラ・プロショットです。

これが現時点のMETALLICA。ご覧のように、南米ツアー６公演がすべてプロショット化。40年に及ぶMETALLICA史上……いや、ロック／メタル史上でも他に類のない快挙と言うべきでしょう。さすが、エンターテインメントの新境地を切り拓き続けてきたMETALLICA……と思いきや、実は彼らが計画したことではないようです。ブエノスアイレス公演は配信されたので例外ですが、残り５公演に関しては流出の模様。公式サイトでは１公園につき３曲分が無料公開されているだけですし、某大手動画サイトにフル版がアップされても速攻で削除されているのです。不思議なのは、一気に全公演が流出したのではなく、ツアーの進行に沿って次々と毎公演が出てくる事。オフィシャルは流出元を突き止めずに放置しているのでしょうか。
思わずそんな筋違いな心配（？）までしてしまうのも、このシリーズのクオリティが超・極上だから。流出プロショットと言えば大抵はスクリーンに流す用の映像ですし、そうすると遠方客のためにメンバーのアップだらけになりがち。ところが、今回のシリーズはまるで放送プロショットのようにバランスの取れたアングルですし、スイッチングも完璧。真の意味で「完全オフィシャル級」と呼べる作品然とした完成度です。もし本作をご視聴されたいなら、ぜひMETALLICAの公式サイトで無料動画をご覧ください。公式サイトでは３曲分だけですが、本作はそのフル・バージョンなのです。
そんなパーフェクト・クオリティは５公演目である本作でも共通しているわけですが、もちろんショウ内容は共通ではない。今回は南米ツアー全６公演で演奏された曲を「固定曲」、それ以外を「日替わり曲」として整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。６公演すべてで欠かさなかったのは『BLACK ALBUM』までの初期曲だけでした。５公演目の本作は、バラエティの豊かさが特徴。必殺の「Whiplash」や「Creeping Death」も押さえていますが、同時にグルーヴィな「Holier Than Thou／Fuel」「No Leaf Clover」もセレクトしつつ「Spit Out The Bone」も交えるなど、最近のショウらしいバランス感覚が垣間見える。そんな中でサプライズ役なのが「Dirty Window」でしょう。昨年の40周年コンサートでも演奏されていましたが、その時が30周年コンサート以来の10年ぶり。その前は『ST. ANGER』リリース時代まで遡る。つまり「○周年」でないと演奏されない曲と思われていたわけですが、まさかこうも早く再演されるとは。まったくもって意表を突くのが巧いバンドです。
また、本作を愉しむ上でチェックしていただきたいのが『CURITIBA 2022』。この２公演はどちらもバラエティ重視のセットなのですが、曲被りは少ない。ファスト／グルーヴィ／メロディアス……と多彩な表情を味わいつつ、曲の種類数の上でも名コンビとなる姉妹作なのです。
ワールド・ツアー再開から６公演連続でフル・プロショットが登場したMETALLICA。オフィシャルによる正規事業でないとなると、さすがに北米／欧州ツアーは出てこないと思いますが……。ともあれ、前代未聞のプロショット・ラッシュの中にあって、こなれてきたアンサンブルとバラエティ豊かな選曲が楽しめる１枚。どうぞ、今週も存分にご堪能ください！
