In recent years, “Mike Millard Tape” has been digitized from the master direct or low generation tape. This tape was recorded by Mike Millard, a taper familiar to fans due to the outstanding technology of audience recording. The same label has released several sound sources based on this newly digitized Mike Millard tape, but if you look closely, you can see “Brushed Mike Millard Tape” and “Legendary Mike Millard.” Did you notice that there are two types of tapes? Not all Mike Millard tapes have perfect sound quality, and some of them have a lot of room for improvement, and the “Brushed” series has been significantly improved. Originally, it is almost perfect and there is not much room for sound quality improvement, and the “Legendary” series is the one that keeps the minimum of light editing such as between songs.

This time, a live sound source by Lenny White’s group will be released from the “Brushed” series. Lenny White is famous as a drummer for Chick Corea’s Return to Forever, but later formed a group called the Jamaica Boys, where he teamed up with Marcus Miller as well as this live. In this live, a double guitar and a synth are also featured, and a good jazz rock performance is performed. Since the hiss noise was so tight, it was noise-cut, so it was treated as a “brushed” series, but the sound quality is very good, and you can enjoy high-quality audience recording unique to mirrored tape. The late set recorded on disc 2 was originally over 82 minutes, and since it could not be recorded on one disc, long parts such as speeches between songs were cut and edited. Of course, please be assured that the songs are completely uncut.

近年マスター直、或いはロウ・ジェネレーションのテープからデジタル化が進んでいる“マイク・ミラード・テープ”。オーディエンス録音の卓越した技術でファンにはお馴染みのテーパー、マイク・ミラード氏により録音されたテープです。同レーベルからもこの新デジタル化のマイク・ミラード・テープをマスターにした音源が複数リリースされておりますが、よく見ると“ブラッシュド・マイク・ミラード・テープ”と“レジェンダリー・マイク・ミラード・テープ”の二種類があることにお気付きでしょうか。マイク・ミラード・テープも全てが完璧な音質なわけではなく、中にはかなり手を加えて改良の余地があるものもあり、大幅に手を加えて改良されたものが“ブラッシュド”シリーズ。元々完璧に近く音質改良の余地があまり無く、曲間等の軽い編集など最低限にとどめてあるものが“レジェンダリー”シリーズとなります。

今回は“ブラッシュド”シリーズよりレニー・ホワイトのグループによるライヴ音源登場です。レニー・ホワイトはチック・コリアのリターン・トゥー・フォーエヴァーのドラマーとして有名ですが、その後ジャマイカ・ボーイズというグループを結成しており、そこではこのライヴ同様にマーカス・ミラーとコンビを組んでいます。このライヴではダブル・ギターにシンセも大きくフィーチャーされ、良質なジャズ・ロックを快演。ヒス・ノイズがきつかったためノイズ・カットを施してあり、従って“ブラッシュド”シリーズという扱いになったわけですが音質は非常に良く、ミラード・テープならではの上質なオーディエンス録音が楽しめます。ディスク2に収録のレイト・セットは元々82分強あり、一枚のディスクに収録できなかったため曲間のスピーチ等長い部分をカット編集。もちろん楽曲はノー・カット完全収録ですのでご安心ください。
