This is a truly unique music program in which tour officials, who are witnesses of history, look back on those days and talk about Zeppelin’s visit to Japan. (★ It seems that such straight (= radical) expressions were allowed in the era when there was no internet yet, in the first half of the 90’s …)

Broadcast in March 1994. Some of you may remember the program image with the title “Aesthetics of Music” and the intro with a video of a grand piano connected by a rope slowly falling in the air. Image processing and editing are still products of the handmade era, and the sudden editing and composition also makes us feel the era. It can be said that it was a project that was made because it was a late-night broadcast at that time, like a video of a radio program, but despite some exaggeration and misunderstanding of facts, it can be said that its value as a record is extremely valuable. I was knocked out from the beginning by the word “mini disc from now on to record and listen” (and the price is 75,000 yen), but the commercials inserted in various places are only 21 years old. Even before, those who know the world at that time feel a strong nostalgia. In any case, this title, which is full of valuable episodes, is definitely a must-see and must-have for fans.

ジミー・ペイジが「日本では信じられないようなことを数々やらかした。毎晩飽きもせずにあらゆることをしまくって、唯一やらなかったのは人殺しくらい、といっても良いかもしれない。今思えば、日本の招聘元は凍りつくほど恐ろしい思いをしただろうけど、とても丁寧な人たちで、ずっと変わることなく僕らに敬意を払い続けてくれた」とインタビューで語っていますが、本盤は、歴史の証人たるツアー関係者が当時を振り返って、ツェッペリン来日について語るという、まさに唯一無二の異色の音楽番組です。（★こういうストレート（=過激）な表現が許されたのがまだネットがない時代・90年代前半期・・・ということなんでしょうね）

放送は1994年3月。「音楽美学」というタイトルと共に、空中にロープで繋がれたグランドピアノがゆっくりと落ちてゆく映像をイントロに配した番組イメージを記憶してる方もいらっしゃるのではないでしょうか。画像処理や編集が、まだまだハンドメイドな時代の産物であり、その唐突な編集や構成も時代を感じさせます。ラジオ番組を映像化したような、当時の深夜放送だからできた企画とも言えますが、多少の誇張や事実誤認はあるにせよ、記録としての価値は非常に貴重と言えるででしょう。「録るのも聴くのも、これからミニ・ディスク」(しかも価格が75,000円）と言う、全てが間違っている言葉に冒頭からノックアウトされますが、各所に挿入されているCMも、たった21年前とは言え、当時の世相を知る者には強烈なノスタルジックを感じさせてくれます。いずれにせよ、貴重なエピソード満載の本タイトルは、間違いなくファン必見・必携の一枚と言えるでしょう。
