This work is the third of three simultaneous releases. It is a super powerful stereo sound board recording of “El Paso performance on March 23, 1983”. Among the three works that will be released at the same time this time, only this work is a little different. In order to explain the meaning, let’s first look back at the schedule at that time and check the position of each of the three titles.

《Production of “LICK IT UP” started in July》
This is the overall picture of the “CREATURES OF THE NIGHT Tour”. Both sister works “SIOUX CITY 1982 SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 529)” and “ROCKFORD 1982 SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 530)” were records of “North America # 1a” at the very beginning of the tour, but only the El Paso performance of this work is the final stage of the tour. It was a concert that was the 10th performance of “North America # 3”.
“Although the times are slightly different, there are still three sisters.” This work is also impact quality. There is no doubt that it was recorded directly from the soundboard desk, and the loud cheers were far away, and the mix balance was rough (Vinnie Vincent’s guitar, which suddenly became big during the solo, was powerful!). Instead, the performances spun by the four people are at the extreme of vividness, the guitar / bass strings and drum skins have a close contact that makes them vibrate, and the vocals are at a breathing level. You can enjoy a completely synchronized feeling with live performances that can never be experienced with beautifully arranged official live works and FM broadcasts that produce concert relives.
And this work is also the highest peak version of such a shocking sound board. As can be said for the other two sisters, “SIOUX CITY 1982 SOUNDBOARD” and “ROCKFORD 1982 SOUNDBOARD”, it is not the excavation master as it is, but is refined with meticulous mastering. Stabilize the crazy pitch just right, and evenly adjust the volume / sound pressure that was changing in some parts. The degree of impact of the original sound is not compromised, and the degree of perfection as a music work is enhanced as much as possible.
While the vivid sound characteristics and the perfection of the finish are similar to the sister work, what is completely different is the content of the show. As mentioned above, the second half of the tour is approaching, and the set is completely different. Speaking of the sound board at the end of the “CREATURES OF THE NIGHT Tour”, the FM sound source of the Rio performance is famous, so let’s organize it while comparing.

… and it looks like this. Although there are more songs than the Rio performance soundboard, the set has been changed to be tighter than “SIOUX CITY 1982 SOUNDBOARD” and “ROCKFORD 1982 SOUNDBOARD”. The flow is getting better, and Vinnie is getting used to the show and rampages. The ensemble and the momentum are the best among the three sisters.
Although it’s a little disappointing that some rare songs were dropped, the encore is a rare point that more than makes up for it. In fact, it seems that the audience on this day was so enthusiastic that they threw things towards the stage. Gene rushes into the audience after being cut off, and after “Strutter” Paul also hits angry MC. Although it is not possible to confirm Jean’s big turnaround in this work without images, Paul’s MC can be experienced with a sense of ear.
In terms of rare songs, it doesn’t match “SIOUX CITY 1982 SOUNDBOARD” and “ROCKFORD 1982 SOUNDBOARD”, but the impeccable performance of the well-rounded ensemble and the impact of the trouble scenes that erupt with anger are unique to this work. 《７月『LICK IT UP』制作開始》
これが“CREATURES OF THE NIGHT Tour”の全体像。姉妹作『SIOUX CITY 1982 SOUNDBOARD（Zodiac 529）』『ROCKFORD 1982 SOUNDBOARD（Zodiac 530）』はどちらもツアー極初期「北米#1a」の記録だったわけですが、本作のエルパソ公演だけはツアー終盤。「北米#3」の10公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
時期はやや異なるとは言え、そこはやはり三姉妹。本作も衝撃クオリティです。サウンドボード卓から直接録音されているのは疑いようがなく、大歓声も遠ければ、ミックス・バランスもラフ（ソロで突然デカくなるヴィニー・ヴィンセントのギターがド迫力！）。その代わり、４人が紡ぎ出す演奏は生々しさの極地で、ギター／ベースの弦もドラムの皮も振動が目に浮かぶような密着感ですし、ヴォーカルも息づかいレベル。綺麗に整えられた公式ライヴ作や、コンサート追体験を演出するようなFM放送では絶対に味わえない生演奏との完全シンクロ感を味わえるのです。
そして、本作はそんな衝撃サウンドボードの最高峰版でもある。姉妹の他２作『SIOUX CITY 1982 SOUNDBOARD』『ROCKFORD 1982 SOUNDBOARD』にも言える事ですが、発掘マスターそのままではなく、細心マスタリングで磨き込み。狂っていたピッチをビシッとジャストで安定させ、一部で変化していた音量／音圧も均一に調整。原音の衝撃度は些かも損なう事なく、音楽作品としての完成度を可能な限り高めているのです。
生々しいサウンド特性も仕上がりの完成度も姉妹作に通じる一方、まったく違うのはショウ内容。上記のようにツアー後半に差し掛かっており、セットもまるで違うのです。“CREATURES OF THE NIGHT Tour”終盤のサウンドボードと言えば、リオ公演のFM音源が有名ですので、比較しながら整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。リオ公演サウンドボードよりは曲数も多いものの、『SIOUX CITY 1982 SOUNDBOARD』『ROCKFORD 1982 SOUNDBOARD』に比べるとセットはグッとタイトに変更。流れも良くなっていますし、ヴィニーもショウ慣れしてきたのか大暴れ。アンサンブルも勢いも三姉妹の仲でピカイチです。
もっともレア曲の類が落ちたのが少し残念なのは拭えないものの、それを補って余りあるレアポイントなのがアンコール。実は、この日の観客は熱狂のあまりステージに向かって物を投げていたそう。それにブチ切れてジーンが客席に突撃し、「Strutter」後にはポールも怒りのMCをぶつけるのです。もっとも映像のない本作ではジーンの大立ち回りは確認できないわけですが、ポールのMCは耳元感覚で体験できるのです。
レア曲の面では『SIOUX CITY 1982 SOUNDBOARD』『ROCKFORD 1982 SOUNDBOARD』に及ばないものの、こなれたアンサンブルによる熱演と怒りが噴き出すトラブル・シーンのインパクトは本作だけの旨み。そのすべてを超強力サウンドボードで脳みそにねじ込んでくるド級のライヴアルバムです。ブン殴られるような新発掘の衝撃を永遠に刻み込んだプレス２CD。どうぞ、いつでも、いつまでもお楽しみください。
