This is KISS in 1982/1983. Although the tour started in 1982, the new year started with three performances. The Montreal performance of this work is the 8th performance in the beginning of such “North America #1b”. From this “North America #1b”, the press masterpiece “TORONTO 1983 SOUNDBOARD (Zodiac 533)” has also become a standard, but this work is also the day before that.
This vacuum-packed version of such a show is a clear recording that will awaken your eyes to the vivid performance sound while the real enthusiasm is rising. これが1982年／1983年のKISS。ツアーは1982年から始まってはいるものの、３公演ですぐ年明け。本作のモントリオール公演は、そんな「北米#1b」でも序盤の８公演目。この「北米#1b」からはプレス名盤『TORONTO 1983 SOUNDBOARD（Zodiac 533）』も定番となっておりますが、本作はその前日でもあります。
そんなショウを真空パックした本作はリアルな熱狂が吹き上がりつつも、鮮やかな演奏音に目も醒めるクリア録音。サウンドボードと間違えるタイプではありませんが、それは主に音色の話。空気感を貫く芯はくっきりしていて、それに伴ってディテールも鮮明。ヴォーカルも歌詞の一語までしっかりと伝わってくる。そして何より、マスター鮮度がスゴい。関係者サウンドボードを連発している当店の独自ルートで発掘されたのですが、どうやら現場で実際に記録した大元マスターからデジタル化されている。その経緯を証明するかのように、瑞々しくダビング痕のないサウンドがスピーカーから噴き出してくるのです。
そんなリアル＆フレッシュ・サウンドで描かれるのは、記録自体が貴重な“CREATURES OF THE NIGHT Tour”のフルショウ。前述のようにショウ自体が『TORONTO 1983 SOUNDBOARD』の前日でもありますので、ここではプレス名盤と比較しながらセットを整理しておきましょう。
