JOURNEY is overheating at a stretch with the release of the new studio “FREEDOM” for the first time in 11 years. Introducing the strongest footage in history where you can witness the latest tour. This work was shot at “July 20, 2022 Paso Robles Performance”. A superb view audience shot when performing at the California music festival “MID STATE FAIR”. Speaking of 2022 video works, the popular masterpieces “PITTSBURGH 2022: THE VIDEO (Uxbridge 1627)” and “SACRAMENTO 2022: THE VIDEO (Uxbridge 1628)” are also new to my memory, but the position of this work is a little. The meaning is different. To explain that, let’s first review their recent situation on a schedule.

This is the 2022/2023 schedule that has been announced so far. The previous two works mentioned above were records of “North America # 1” that announced the restart of JOURNEY, but “FREEDOM” was released after that. The Paso Robles performance of this work is the third performance of “North America # 2”, which was repartitioned after the album was released. In other words, it is a new tour where new songs are also shown.

[Ownership shot that exceeds the front row shot] This work, which vacuum-packed such a show, is a shocking super-superb view audience ……, maybe. No, in fact, it must be the audience seat video released by the photographer, but the view is so spectacular that I don’t know where the audience seats are. Only Neal Schon, who appeared from the moment of the start, is shown, and after that, there is no audience at all, and only the stage is in sight. Perhaps it’s a front row shot, but it looks like the real camera crew is “sideways” instead of “in front”, and Arnel Pineda, who comes forward and crouches and sings, is as close as talking to a friend in front of him. Rather, it is a super close-up shot that is more convincing if it is said to be a “one-camera pro shot from the camera pit.”
The finest voice enhances the professional shot feeling of the scene. If you listen carefully with headphones, you will notice the sound that seems to be an audience, but the direct feeling and tight feeling at zero distance, and the fine details are sound board grade. While focusing on the masterpiece “ESCAPE”, the rich Greatest Hits that seem to have taken the deliciousness of the previous two works. “The Way We Used To Be” was released as a new song in “PITTSBURGH 2022: THE VIDEO”, but in this work it has been replaced by “You Got The Best Of Me”.
Anyway, the ultimate intense front row experience. That’s all. The front row shot itself is valuable, but I have never seen a video without other spectators so thoroughly. Even the voice is wonderful. The strongest in JOURNEY history … No, it’s a ridiculous video masterpiece unlike any other band / artist. 遂に11年ぶりとなるスタジオ新作『FREEDOM』が発売となり、一気に過熱しているJOURNEY。その最新ツアーを目撃できる史上最強映像が登場です。ナニが「最強」かって、空前絶後の最前列体験。JOURNEY全史でも並ぶもののないとんでもない衝撃映像の誕生です！
そんな本作が撮影されたのは「2022年７月20日パソロブレス公演」。カリフォルニアの音楽祭“MID STATE FAIR”に出演した際の超絶景オーディエンス・ショットです。2022年の映像作と言えば、好評を賜った傑作『PITTSBURGH 2022: THE VIDEO（Uxbridge 1627）』『SACRAMENTO 2022: THE VIDEO（Uxbridge 1628）』も記憶に新しいところですが、本作のポジションはちょっと意味が異なる。それをご説明するためにも、まずは彼らの近況をスケジュールでおさらいしてみましょう。

これが現在までに公表されている2022年／2023年のスケジュール。上記した前２作はJOURNEY再起動を告げる「北米#1」の記録でしたが、その後に『FREEDOM』がリリース。本作のパソロブレス公演は、アルバム発売後の仕切り直し「北米#2」の３公演目にあたるコンサート。つまり、新曲も披露される新作ツアーなのです。

【最前列ショットを超える独り占めショット】
そんなショウを真空パックした本作は、衝撃的なまでの超・絶景オーディエンス……です、たぶん。いや、事実としては撮影者が公開した客席映像に違いないのですが、あまりにも絶景過ぎてその客席がどこだか分からない。スタートの瞬間から登場してくるニール・ショーンしか映っておらず、その後も観客の姿はまったくなく、視界にあるのはステージだけ。恐らくは最前列ショットなのでしょうが、本物のカメラクルーが「前」ではなく「横」にいるように見えますし、前方に来てしゃがんで歌うアーネル・ピネダも目の前の友達と話すような距離。むしろ「カメラピットからのワンカメ・プロショット」と言われた方がよほど納得できる超ド接写なのです。
その光景のプロショット感をさらに高めているのが極上の音声。ヘッドフォンで耳を澄ませばオーディエンスらしい鳴りにも気づきますが、ゼロ距離なダイレクト感とタイト感、それに細やかなディテールはサウンドボード級。いずれにせよ、コンサートの体験映像と言うよりは「JOURNEYと自分だけ」という独り占め映像なのです。
