Joe Lynn Turner came out about her hair loss and underwent a bold image change. Perhaps due to a change in his state of mind, here is a superb video that allows you to witness the before and after changes in his solo live.
This work includes two performances at the Russian club “1930 Moscow”. This is a 2-disc set of spectacular audience shots with “March 9, 2023 performance” on DISC 1 and “October 3, 2023 performance” on DISC 2. The current Joe married a Belarusian female lawyer and moved to the area. Last month, the birth of his beloved son, who he received at the age of 72, also made headlines. On the other hand, since he suffered a heart attack in 2018, his musical activities seem to have been limited to Europe. First of all, let’s take a look back at his recent status on the schedule and check the position of this work.

This is a summary of activities in 2021/2022…I guess. I’m sorry for suddenly being so unreliable, but there has been extremely little information about Joe since his heart attack. Is it because they are concerned about their health and are limiting their activities, or is it because of the difficulty in getting information about Eastern Europe, or is it because of the current world situation? In any case, their activities seem to be in former communist countries and performing at Scandinavian festivals. In the past few years, due to the coronavirus, they have only recorded 2-3 live shows a year, but in 2023, it seems that they will be holding a mini tour in Bulgaria for the first time in a while. The two performances in Moscow of this work were the shows before and after such a mini tour.

[Front row shot of the ultimate view] This work, which captures two such performances at the same venue, is also a sister video released by the same person. Moreover, the quality is very similar. Surprisingly, both performances were filmed from the front row with no audience, and are almost the same even down to the slightly left-hand angle from the center of the stage. Although it has not been confirmed, it is likely that the person who released the information is someone associated with the band or the venue. It’s such a miraculous coincidence that I can only believe it.
Furthermore, the flexible camera work and superb sound create a strong sense of involvement. Of course, we are focusing on Joe, the main character, but the solos of the three guitarists are also in unobstructed positions, and you will not miss the oblis added in the original. There’s no way a mere audience member could capture images of this magnitude…the beauty of the images and cinematography are such that you’d think so.

[Joe was reborn in six months] Although the venue, viewpoint, and quality are very similar, the two performances of this work are completely different. First of all, Joe’s looks. As mentioned above, she came out about her alopecia within last year, but at her March performance (DISC 1) she wore a wig as before. On the other hand, when it comes to the October performance (DISC 2), he transforms into a skinhead.
Rob Halford, or rather, Tony Martin-like appearance alone is refreshing, but in fact, not only the appearance but also the content of the show has changed significantly. The best way to know this is to look at the song list. Let’s sort it out here.

…and it looks like this. In short, “March Performance (DISC 1)” will be the same as before. Among RAINBOW/DEEP PURPLE’s greatest hits, he also sings many songs by Ian Gillan and Ronnie James Dio.
However, when it came to the “October performance (DISC 2)”, the ratio of my own songs and covers changed, and I was able to perform a wide variety of repertoire! He chimes in. Of course, the core will be RAINBOW/DEEP PURPLE, but the number of songs by Gillan and Ronnie will be drastically reduced, and Joe’s own originals will be the focus. In addition, he will feature four songs from his solo album, including HTP’s “The Devil’s Road” and “Rising Force” with Yngwie.
A diverse group of famous songs is directly connected to the enjoyment of the show, but more than that, the reliability is heart-warming. Speaking of Joe’s solo, the usual representative song Rush and famous covers were decided. Although it had the goodness of a jukebox, I couldn’t shake the feeling of sadness, thinking, “I don’t have to play so many other people’s songs…” However, Joe in this work (DISC 2) is different. I’m really proud of both Skinhead and the masterpieces they’ve created so far. I wish I had seen a show like this sooner… but the singing voice makes me think it’s not too late. Although the key is a little lower, unlike the singers of his generation who are almost different people, Joe’s power and voice quality make sure to bring out Joe’s charm.
Joe is a traditional human jukeboxer (DISC 1), and Joe is completely positive about his own diverse collection of masterpieces (DISC 2). It is a video masterpiece that allows you to observe from a fixed point two performances that seem to have been reborn in just six months. Joe Lynn Turner said during the MC, “Next time we’ll do “BELLY OF THE BEAST” and declared further evolution. そんな本作に収められているのは、ロシアのクラブ“1930モスクワ”の２公演。「2023年３月９日公演」をDISC　1、「同10月３日公演」をDISC 2に配した絶景オーディエンス・ショット２枚組です。現在のジョーはベラルーシ人の女性弁護士と結婚して当地に移住。先月は72歳にして授かった愛息の誕生もニュースになりました。その一方で2018年に心臓発作で倒れて以降、音楽活動はヨーロッパ圏内に限られているようです。まずは、そんな彼の近況をスケジュールで振り返りつつ、本作のポジションを確かめてみましょう。

これが2021年／2022年の活動概要……です、たぶん。いきなり頼りなくて申し訳ないのですが、心臓発作以降のジョーは情報が極端に少ない。身体を気遣って活動を抑えているのか、東欧の情報は伝わりづらいのか、あるいは昨今の世界情勢のせいなのか。ともあれ、旧共産圏と北欧フェスへの出演が活動域のようです。ここ数年はコロナもあってか年２ー３回のライヴ記録しかありませんでしたが、2023年は久々にブルガリアでミニ・ツアーも実施されたようです。本作のモスクワ２公演は、そんなミニ・ツアーを挟む前後のショウでした。

【究極絶景の最前列ショット】
そんな同会場２公演を捉えた本作は、同一人物が公開した姉妹映像でもある。しかも、クオリティも酷似。なんと両公演とも前方客ゼロ最前列から撮影されており、ステージ中央よりやや左寄りな角度までほぼ同一。断言はされていませんが、恐らく公開した人物はバンドか会場の関係者ではないでしょうか。そうとしか思えないほどの奇跡の一致なのです。
さらに強烈な関係者感覚を醸しているのが自在なカメラワークと極上のサウンド。もちろん主役のジョーを中心に追っているわけですが、３人のギタリストのソロもそれぞれ遮蔽物のないポジションですし、オリジナルで追加したオブリまでしっかり見逃さない。一介の観客がこれほどの映像を撮影できるわけない……そう思えるほどの映像美と撮影技なのです。

【半年の間に生まれ変わったジョー】
会場・視点・クオリティが酷似していながら、本作の２公演はまるで違う。まず第一に、ジョーのルックス。上記のように昨年のうちに脱毛症をカミング・アウトしていましたが、３月公演（DISC 1）では以前と同じようにウィッグを着用していた。その一方で10月公演（DISC 2）になるとスキンヘッド姿に変貌しているのです。
ロブ・ハルフォードと言うかトニー・マーティンのような風貌だけでも新鮮ですが、実は見た目だけではなくショウ内容も大きく変化しました。これは曲目を見ていただくのが一番。ここで整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。ひと言で言えば「３月公演（DISC 1）」は従来通り。RAINBOW／DEEP PURPLEのグレイテスト・ヒッツで、イアン・ギランやロニー・ジェイムズ・ディオの曲もたっぷり歌っています。
ところが「10月公演（DISC 2）」になると一転、自分の持ち歌とカバーの割合が逆転し、多彩なレパートリーをこれでもか！とブチかましてくれる。もちろん軸はRAINBOW／DEEP PURPLEにはなるものの、ギランやロニーの曲は激減してジョー自身のオリジナルが中心。さらにソロアルバムからも４曲を取り上げ、HTPの「The Devil’s Road」やイングヴェイとの「Rising Force」まで披露してくれるのです。
多彩な名曲群はショウの楽しさに直結するわけですが、それ以上に頼もしさに胸が熱くなる。ジョーのソロと言えば、お決まりの代表曲ラッシュと有名カバーと相場が決まっていました。それもジュークボックス的な良さもあったものの、「そんなに他人の曲ばっかりやらなくても……」という寂しさも拭えませんでした。ところが、本作（DISC 2）のジョーは違う。スキンヘッドも、今まで作ってきた名曲群も、実に誇らしげなのです。もっと早くこんなショウが観たかった……と思いつつ、まだ遅くないと思わせてくれるのが歌声。キーは下げ気味ではあるものの、ほとんど別人化している同世代のシンガー達とは違ってパワーも声質もジョーの魅力をしっかりと効かせてくれるのです。
従来通りの人間ジュークボックなジョー（DISC 1）と、自身の多彩な名曲群を全肯定しているジョー（DISC 2）。たった半年で生まれ変わったような２公演を定点観測できる映像傑作です。MCで「次回は『BELLY OF THE BEAST』もやるぜ」と語り、さらなる進化を宣言したジョー・リン・ターナー。72歳にして「これから」が楽しみになる映像傑作の誕生です！

★「2023年３月９日／10月３日モスクワ公演」の最前列オーディエンス・ショット。２公演とも同じ人物が公開しており、ポジションも匠のカメラワークも同じ。恐らくは関係者が撮影した姉妹作と思われます。ただショウ内容は大きく異なり、「３月映像（DISC 1）」は従来通りながら「10月映像（DISC 2）」ではスキンヘッドを公開し、ソロやHTP、イングヴェイの曲も披露するキャリア全肯定のショウ。生まれ変わったジョーの清々しさに胸が熱くなる映像傑作です。
