… and it looks like this. The press masterpiece “THE FINAL CONCERT” was the final performance as the title suggests, but this work is the latest. It was a concert just three days ago (before two performances).
This work, which vacuum-packed such a scene, is a wonderful recording that only appeared late. The direct feeling of the on-core is wonderful, the density is plenty and there is no sense of distance. The faint hall sound that you can finally notice when listening with headphones does not hide any fine details, and each note has exquisite luster and dynamism. Each bass, which tends to be a weak point in audience recording, stands out clearly, and you can enjoy the rich groove that is created by connecting it.
It’s a press-grade album… well, to be honest, it’s much better than the genuine press masterpiece “THE FINAL CONCERT”. If this recording had been excavated in real time, or if the scene was the final performance, it was permanently preserved without hesitation. It is the finest item of such a level.
It’s as sweet, lustrous, and deep as black candy. It is a live album where you can fully experience the final stage of Jeff with such a sound. The set itself is the same as the final work “THE FINAL CONCERT”, so I will omit it, but the final form of Jeff Beck music that I listen to with this sound is very impressive. The last performance as a document is “THE FINAL CONCERT”, but it may be this work that can be called “the last masterpiece” as a music work including sound quality.
Even though it appeared late, I can’t help but introduce it. Go ahead and savor it as much as you can.
★ The best audience recording of “November 9, 2022 San Jose performance”. You can enjoy the last show in your life at “THE FINAL CONCERT: RENO 2022”, but this work is three days before that (2 performances before). Moreover, the sound surpasses “THE FINAL CONCERT”, the direct feeling of the on-core is wonderful, the density is plenty and there is no sense of distance. ……と、このようになっています。プレス名盤『THE FINAL CONCERT』はタイトル通りの最終公演だったわけですが、本作はその直近。わずか３日前（２公演前）にあたるコンサートでした。
そんな現場を真空パックした本作は、遅れて登場しただけはある素晴らしい名録音。オンな芯のダイレクト感が素晴らしく、密度もたっぷりで距離感がまるでない。ヘッドフォンで耳を澄ましてようやく気づくレベルのうっすらとしたホール鳴りも細やかなディテールを一切隠すことなく、１音１音に絶妙な艶とダイナミズムを宿らせている。オーディエンス録音でウィークポイントになりがちなベースも１粒１粒がくっきりと際立ち、それが連なることで生まれるグルーヴも芳醇に味わえるのです。
まさにプレス級……と申しますか、本音を言ってしまうと正真正銘のプレス名盤『THE FINAL CONCERT』よりずっと良い。この録音がリアルタイムで発掘されていたなら、あるいは現場が最終公演であったなら、迷わずに永久保存されていた。そんなレベルの極上品なのです。
まるで黒飴のように甘美で艶やか、そして深い。そんなサウンドでジェフ最末期のステージをフル体験できるライヴアルバムです。セット自体は最終作『THE FINAL CONCERT』と同一なので省略しますが、このサウンドで聴くジェフ・ベック・ミュージックの最終形は感慨もひとしお。ドキュメントとしてのラスト・パフォーマンスは『THE FINAL CONCERT』ですが、サウンド・クオリティ込みの音楽作品として「最後の名作」と呼べるのは本作の方なのかも知れません。
遅れて登場しながらもご紹介せずにはいられない……いや、時期を外しても公開せずにいられなかった録音者の気持ちもよく分かる極上の銘品。どうぞ、噛みしめるように味わい尽くしてください。
