BBM is a foam unit formed by the rhythm section of the legendary band CREAM and Gary Moore. The multi-camera pro shot is the gift release decision.
This work was shot at “November 2, 1993 in Cologne”. A multi-camera pro shot taken at an anniversary concert celebrating Jack Bruce’s 50th birthday. BBM is a phantom project that disappeared into the darkness of history with the album “AROUND THE NEXT DREAM” and a European tour of only 13 performances. However, this work is shortly before its official start. It’s also a good opportunity, so let’s review the slightly complicated band history for a short time. This is Jack Bruce in 1993/1994. CREAM will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in January 1993, but will be reunited only once at that event. Jack releases his completed solo work “SOMETHIN ELS” and sets out on a tour. However, during the European Tour, guitarist Blues Saraceno withdrew. Gary Moore was called as a substitute, and the reunion of both males was realized here (only the Esslingen performance has been confirmed to co-star clearly, but there are also shows before and after that, and others. There may have been several performances in).
Originally, Gary was an old friend of Jack in a session activity in the 1980s, but through this work he got more involved and both of them started to move toward the formation of a unit to co-star. Gary was eager for Ginger Baker to join Jack at this time, but it’s a well-known fact that Jack and Ginger have a bad deal. Nonetheless, Gary, who grew up admiring CREAM, couldn’t give up and pleaded that “even if it wasn’t.” As a result, he invited Ginger to Jack’s 50-year-old anniversary concert (Europe # 3). That was the trigger for the birth of the super unit BBM.
This “Europe # 3” became Jack’s official live album “CITIES OF THE HEART”, but this work is “November 2nd” out of 2 days. In other words, this work is the first stage where the legendary three people are gathered (Pete Brown also participates as a guest in “Politician”). Although it is a BBM, it is a professional shot with a timing that does not call itself BBM.
It is a video that has been known as a standard since that time only for TV broadcast professional shots, and this work was made into a DVD from its best master. Since it is an analog image quality of the times, it is not possible to tout it as “completely official class!” At the present time of digital standards, but at that time it is the best master who wants to scream with all his might.
And what is important is the content of the performance. BBM itself was rich in CREAM color, but this work before official start is even richer. It contains 4 songs of CREAM, and all of them have an excellent interplay. For a quarter of a century from CREAM, a battle between a guitar hero who climbed up to become a legend and a real rhythm section. In this work, the video technology of the 90’s firmly fits it. Perhaps it was because I felt a response to this show that it developed into BBM, but that is also a convincing interplay.
Moreover, because of that video, the enthusiastic performance is also vivid. Gary is so expressive that he is always said to “play with his face”, but he seems to be more happy on this day. He made his name known to the world with his own power, but he is a fan psychology in front of the legendary rhythm section.

After that, they officially started and performed the album “AROUND THE NEXT DREAM” and the European Tour as mentioned above. However, Ginger had his own band, and his relationship with Jack was still difficult to repair. The tour continues to be canceled. The resulting gig disappeared spontaneously in only 13 of the 23 scheduled performances. BBM that embodies “CREAM in the 90’s” where heroes of British rock history gather together. Because the vision is clear, it was a rare unit that was able to create the best and gorgeous music. A valuable video work that allows you to witness that evening with multi-camera pro shots. 伝説バンドCREAMのリズム隊とゲイリー・ムーアが組んだ泡沫のユニットBBM。そのマルチカメラ・プロショットがギフト・リリース決定です。
そんな本作が撮影されたのは「1993年11月２日ケルン公演」。ジャック・ブルースの50歳を祝うアニバーサリー・コンサートで撮影されたマルチカメラ・プロショットです。BBMはアルバム『AROUND THE NEXT DREAM』とわずか13公演のヨーロッパ・ツアーだけで歴史の闇に消えて行った幻のプロジェクト。しかし、本作はその正式始動の少し前。良い機会でもありますので、短いわりにやや複雑なバンド・ヒストリーもおさらいしましょう。まずは、その資料となる当時のスケジュールをジャック視点でまとめてみましょう。

これが1993年／1994年のジャック・ブルース。1993年１月にCREAMがロックの殿堂入りを果たしますが、再結成はそのイベント１回限り。ジャックは完成済みだったソロ作『SOMETHIN ELS』をリリースし、ツアーに出発します。しかし、その欧州ツアー中にギターのブルース・サラセノが脱退。その代役として呼ばれたのがゲイリー・ムーアで、ここで両雄の再会が実現しました（ハッキリと共演が確定しているのはエスリンゲン公演だけですが、その前後にもショウが詰まっており、他に数公演あったかも知れません）。
もともとゲイリーは80年代のセッション活動でジャックとは旧知の仲でしたが、この仕事を通じてさらに意気投合し、両名は共演するユニットの結成に向けて動き始める。ゲイリーはこの時ジャックに対してジンジャー・ベイカーの参加を熱望しましたが、ジャックとジンジャーの折り合いの悪さは当然周知の事実。それでもなお、CREAMに憧れを抱いて育ったゲイリーは諦めきれず、「是が非でも」との嘆願。その結果、ジャックの50歳アニバーサリー・コンサート（欧州#3）にジンジャーを招待。それをきっかけとしてスーパー・ユニットBBMが誕生したわけです。
この「欧州#3」はジャックの公式ライヴアルバム『CITIES OF THE HEART』にもなったわけですが、本作は２日間のうち「11月２日」。つまり、本作は伝説の３人が揃った最初のステージ（「Politician」ではピート・ブラウンもゲスト参加しています）。BBMでありつつ、BBMとは名乗っていないタイミングのプロショットなのです。
TV放送プロショットだけに当時から定番として知られる映像で、本作はそのベスト・マスターからDVD化されたもの。時代柄アナログ画質なのでデジタル基準の現在では「完全オフィシャル級！」と喧伝するわけにはいきませんが、当時であれば全力で叫びたい極上マスターです。
そして、肝心なのはパフォーマンスの中身。BBM自体もCREAM色豊かでしたが、正式始動前の本作は、さらに濃厚。CREAMのナンバーを４曲収録しており、その総てで絶品のインタープレイが炸裂しています。CREAMから四半世紀、伝説を目指して登り詰めたギターヒーローと本物リズムセクションのせめぎ合い。本作は、それを90年代の映像テクノロジーがしっかりと収めきっているのです。恐らく、このショウに手応えを感じたからこそBBMへと発展したのでしょうが、それも納得のインタープレイです。
しかも、その映像だからこそ熱演ぶりも鮮烈。常々「顔で弾く」と言われるほど表情豊かなゲイリーですが、この日はいつにも増して嬉しそう。自らの力で世界にその名を轟かせた彼ですが、伝説のリズムセクションを前にファン心理丸出しです。

その後、正式に始動した彼らは前述のようにアルバム『AROUND THE NEXT DREAM』と欧州ツアーを実行。しかし、ジンジャーには自身のバンドがあり、またジャックとの関係もなお修復し難いものがあった。ツアーもキャンセルが続き。結果として実現したギグは予定された23公演中の13回のみで自然消滅してしまいました。英国ロック史の英雄が一堂に集い、「90年代のCREAM」を体現したBBM。ヴィジョンが明確だからこそ、顔ぶれの豪華最上の音楽を作り出せた希有なるユニットでした。その夕をマルチカメラ・プロショットで目撃できる貴重な映像作品。どうぞ、この機会に奇跡ユニットの輝きをじっくりと噛みしめてください。
