The original master collection of Mr. Stephane, who is delighted by HR / HM collectors around the world. The IRON MAIDEN version will be released at the same time. The first of these is the new press masterpiece “DEFINITIVE PARIS 1993 (Zodiac 469)”, and this work is its sister work. This is the best audience recording of “April 20, 1993 Saarbrücken performance”.

This is IRON MAIDEN in 1993. The recording artist’s sister work “DEFINITIVE PARIS 1993” was the 9th performance in the early stages, but the Saarbrücken performance of this work is the 16th performance. Since there are 46 performances in total, it was a concert that was about one-third of the total.
This work recorded at such a show is the best audience of the topic now. It was transferred directly from Mr. “Stephane”‘s Omoto DAT, which I mentioned at the beginning, but this person is now a hot topic recorder and is active mainly in France / Germany. BLACK SABBATH’s “DEFINITIVE PARIS 1992 (Zodiac 467)” and “WINTERTHUR 1992 (Shades 1396)” released the other day and JUDAS PRIEST’s “PARIS 1988 (Shades 1401)” “STUTTGART 1991 (Shades 1402)” ) ”And other masterpieces are being released one after another. The two works released this time are the latest version, Maiden.
Moreover, this work is also press grade. Since the sister work “DEFINITIVE PARIS 1993” is a legendary recording, this one missed the permanent preservation, but this work is not defeated either. The sound of the hall makes you feel like an audience recording, but it does not give a sense of distance, and gives a luster and metallic luster to the core with plenty of direct feeling. If you compare it with Japanese recording, it is a vivid recording that adds the strength of the core to the beauty like the prestigious Kinney.

… And it looks like this. To put it simply, “Where Eagles Dare” has fallen and “2 Minutes To Midnight” has been revived. It became the same set as “GOTHENBURG 1993 (Shades 1327)” three days later. The performance itself is more different than that set. The instrumentalist is (more) powerful as usual, but Bruce Dickinson is lackluster. It’s a little thrown away from the opening “Be Quick or Be Dead”, and the song is cut off in the second song “The Number of the Beast”. Up to this point, I’d be wondering if there was a problem with the equipment, but even after that, I wasn’t feeling well with “Remember Tomorrow,” and with “2 Minutes To Midnight” and “Wasting Love,” the improvisational singing was strange, and “The Evil That.” In “Men Do”, it feels like talking sloppyly.
Perhaps this is the historically famous “cut-out show just before withdrawal”. In the “REAL LIVE Tour”, Bruce, who had already decided to withdraw, couldn’t switch on his motivation, so he wasn’t here. Nico and Steve were furious at that, saying, “I’m not a professional!” I felt motivated and enthusiastic in “DEFINITIVE PARIS 1993”, the 9th performance of the tour, but 10 days after that, my passion rapidly declined. There is a show that proves an anecdote of history.
Compared to “DEFINITIVE PARIS 1993”, which was suitable for the name of “Tour Masterpiece”, the show is a sister work of the same recorder collection, although the sound is good. The reality of the “cut-out show” that was difficult to realize until now because the blues were also doing their best at the show with shooting and recording. It is a live album where you can fully experience it with the finest sound that is subtle and vivid. In a sense, it’s a big monster that is more responsive than the best masterpiece. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.

However, the content is notorious “Blues’s cut-out show”, and it is interesting and valuable because it lacks vividness such as “The Number of the Beast” which is cut off, “2 Minutes To Midnight” and “The Evil That Men Do” which are not energetic. 【話題沸騰の録音家コレクションから生まれた姉妹作】
“REAL LIVE Tour”と言えば公式ライヴ作が豊富なこともあって長らくオーディエンス過疎地だったわけですが、最近では再評価。当店でもこれぞの傑作でレポートしてきました。ツアー自体の概要は『DEFINITIVE PARIS 1993』に譲るとして、ここではより詳細な日程でコレクションを整理してみましょう。

これが1993年のIRON MAIDEN。同録音家の姉妹作『DEFINITIVE PARIS 1993』は序盤の９公演目でしたが、本作のザールブリュッケン公演は16公演目。全46公演ですから、全体の約1/3にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなショウで記録された本作は、今話題の極上オーディエンス。冒頭でも触れた「Stephane」氏の大元DATからダイレクトにトランスファーされているのですが、この人物は今話題の録音家でフランス／ドイツを中心に活動。先日リリースされて大好評を博しているBLACK SABBATHの『DEFINITIVE PARIS 1992（Zodiac 467）』や『WINTERTHUR 1992（Shades 1396）』、JUDAS PRIESTの『PARIS 1988（Shades 1401）』『STUTTGART 1991（Shades 1402）』といった傑作を次々と公表しているのです。今回リリースの２作はその最新弾であるメイデン篇なわけです。
しかも、本作もプレス級。姉妹作『DEFINITIVE PARIS 1993』が伝説的名録音なためにコチラは永久保存を逃しましたが、本作も決して負けてはいない。ホール鳴りがオーディエンス録音らしさを感じさせつつ、それが距離感にはならず、ダイレクト感たっぷりの芯に艶と金属光沢を与えている。日本録音で喩えるなら、名門キニーのような美しさに芯の力強さを加味したような鮮やか録音なのです。
【悪名高き「手抜きブルース」の実録】
そんな絶品サウンドで描かれるのは『DEFINITIVE PARIS 1993』とも似て非なるフルショウ。違いはセットと演奏の両面にあるわけですが、まずはセットから比較しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。カンタンに言えば「Where Eagles Dare」が落ちて「2 Minutes To Midnight」が復活。３日後の『GOTHENBURG 1993（Shades 1327）』と同じセットになりました。そのセット以上に違うのが演奏そのもの。楽器人はいつも通り（以上に）力強いのですが、ブルース・ディッキンソンが精彩を欠いているのです。オープニングの「Be Quick or Be Dead」からやや投げやり気味で、２曲目の「The Number of the Beast」では歌が切れ切れになる。ここまでなら「機材トラブル？」と思うところですが、その後も「Remember Tomorrow」で元気がなく、「2 Minutes To Midnight」「Wasting Love」では即興の歌い回しが妙な感じで、「The Evil That Men Do」ではボソボソしゃべるような感じなのです。
恐らく、これこそが歴史に有名な「脱退直前の手抜きショウ」というヤツでしょう。”REAL LIVE Tour”ではすでに脱退が決まっていたブルースにやる気スイッチが入らず、心ここにあらずだった。その事にニコやスティーヴが「プロフェッショナルじゃない！」と激怒した。ツアー９公演目の『DEFINITIVE PARIS 1993』ではやる気も熱気も感じられたのですが、そこから10日後の本作では急速にパッションが減退。歴史の逸話を証明するようなショウが繰り広げられているのです。
ショウ内容も「ツアー最高傑作」の名に相応しかった『DEFINITIVE PARIS 1993』に対し、サウンドは良くてもショウは微妙な同録音家コレクションの姉妹作です。撮影や録音のあるショウではブルースも全力だったために、これまで実感しにくかった「手抜きショウ」の実態。それを機微まで鮮やかな極上サウンドでフル体験できるライヴアルバムです。ある意味で最高傑作よりも聴き応えの大怪作。どうぞ、存分にお楽しみください。
