In IRON MAIDEN, where the official archive is also popular, the unexplored tour “NO PRAYER ON THE ROAD” where there is no full sound board. A new champion recording that updates the highest peak is newly discovered. Of course, it is a permanent preservation decision with press 2CD!
Engraved on this work is “November 3, 1990 Leiden Performance (Netherlands)”. It is a transcendental audience recording that captures the whole story. If there is no full sound board regardless of official or informal, the most important thing is the “longest sound board” and the “highest sound quality audience”. At our shop, we explored both of them and introduced them with press CD titles. This work is a new champion album that updates the latter’s highest peak, but what kind of masterpieces have there been in the past, and how much does this work exceed? In order to explain it, let’s start with an overview of the sound source unexplored tour “NO PRAYER ON THE ROAD”.

In addition to this, there is also a Shades label board, but only the top 4 press name board titles have been picked up. “NO PRAYER OVER WEMBLEY” is a sound board, but three other works “DEFINITIVE PARIS 1990 2ND NIGHT” and “DORTMUND 1990”, and this work is a full audience. This work is the highest quality update board of audience recording, and it is a full live album that can serve as a “sound board substitute”.
If you have experienced the highest peak “DORTMUND 1990” so far, you may think “DORTMUND 1990 was also quite sound board-like?” “DORTMUND 1990” is super superb even when I listen to it now, but it was a type that produced dynamism with a thick core coated with hall noise. On the other hand, the core of this work is also bare. Even if you listen carefully with headphones, you can’t hear the ringing component, and the vocals are completely ear-feeling. (Although it is known that it is impossible in the times) It is a super vivid sound of Gorigori Bakibaki like IEMs interception.
Moreover, this work further brushes up such a shocking recording. The net original sound was strong enough and had no flaws, but compared to the gorgeous “DORTMUND 1990”, the core was too bare (bitter smile). Therefore, while making the most of the amazing taste of the original sound, we analyzed and adjusted each range from high to deep bass. The treble cuts out better, and the deep bass has an official balance. As a result, the official “REAL LIVE DEAD ONE” is like… No, the vocals are easier to listen to than the official!

There are four more songs than “NO PRAYER OVER WEMBLEY”, but “22 Acacia Avenue” is especially delicious. As you know, the official live work was mass-produced from “FEAR OF THE DARK Tour”, but “22 Acacia Avenue” was not played and no sound board was left in the “Blues / Yannick” era. This work is also a “sound board substitute”. And the highlight is the fierce rush of the “NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING” number. 5 out of 7 songs are rare songs played only on this tour, and the tour itself full of limited songs is valuable (the most is 7 songs of “A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH World Tour”, but that It was a special circumstance of reproducing the album).
And then, the blues that can sing such a full show is amazing. Too awesome. Throughout the tour, it was said that “the blues of the BEAST ON THE ROAD era has returned”, but this work is amazing. In “Resurrection of the Dead” and “MAIDEN ENGLAND”, he struggled with the high notes and sang songs that were misleading as gyaogyao without difficulty, and then he stretched out and added vibrato as if to say, “Is it still good?” “Die With Your Boots On,” “Hallowed Be Thy Name,” and “Run To The Hills,” which should have been ear octopuses, are also exhilarating explosive versions that fall in love again with the singing.
“NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING” cannot be called a popular work. Furthermore, the fact that the tour site was terrible due to the fact that there was no full sound board / pro shot is not well known. This work is the highest peak update board (both quality / performance) that teaches its true value. Maiden Togenkyo is known only by enthusiasts who firmly hold down audience recordings. そんな本作に刻まれているのは「1990年11月３日ライデン公演（オランダ）」。その一部始終を捉えた超絶級オーディエンス録音です。公式／非公式を問わずフル・サウンドボードが存在しないとなれば、最重要になるのは「最長サウンドボード」と「最高音質オーディエンス」。当店では、その双方を探究し、プレスCDタイトルでご紹介してきました。本作は後者の最高峰を更新する新王者アルバムなわけですが、それでは従来はどんな名作があり、本作はどれほど上回っているのか。それをご説明するためにも、まずは音源秘境ツアー“NO PRAYER ON THE ROAD”の概要から始めましょう。

【“NO PRAYER ON THE ROAD”最強のフル・ライヴアルバム】
これが1990年／1991年のIRON MAIDEN。活動的にはブルースのソロも密接に関わる時期なのですが、今回はメイデン本体に集中します。プレス名盤の数々は純粋にクオリティだけで決定盤となっているわけですが、偶然にもすべて序盤「欧州#1」の記録でもありました。ここで日程をさらにフォーカスし、それぞれのポジションを確認しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。この他にもShadesレーベル盤もありますが、あくまで頂点的なプレス名盤４タイトルのみをピックアップしてあります。『NO PRAYER OVER WEMBLEY』はサウンドボードですが、他３作『DEFINITIVE PARIS 1990 2ND NIGHT』『DORTMUND 1990』、それに本作がフル・オーディエンス。本作はオーディエンス録音の最高峰クオリティ更新盤であり、「サウンドボード代わり」を務めうるフル・ライヴアルバムなのです。
これまでの最高峰『DORTMUND 1990』を体験された方なら「DORTMUND 1990もかなりサウンドボード的だったけど？」と思われるかも知れませんが、本作はさらにオンでド密着。『DORTMUND 1990』は今聴いても超極上ではあるのですが、極太な芯をホール鳴りがコーティングし、ダイナミズムを演出するタイプでした。それに対して本作は芯も丸出し。ヘッドフォンで耳を澄ませても鳴り成分が聴き取れず、ヴォーカルに至っては完全に耳元感覚。（時代的にあり得ないと分かっているものの）IEMs傍受のようにゴリゴリ・バッキバキの超ビビッド・サウンドなのです。
しかも、本作はそんな衝撃録音をさらにブラッシュ・アップ。ネット原音のままで充分に強烈で欠点もなかったのですが、ゴージャスな『DORTMUND 1990』に比べると芯が丸出し過ぎ（苦笑）。そこで原音のスゴ味は最大限に活かしつつ、高音から重低音までの各音域を分析して調整。より高音のヌケが良く、重低音もハラに来るオフィシャル的なバランスを獲得しました。その結果、公式『REAL LIVE DEAD ONE』ばりの………いえ、ヴォーカルの聴きやすさではオフィシャル以上のサウンドを実現しているのです！
【レア曲の山盛りとケタ違いの絶唱が轟くフルショウ】
そんな超絶サウンドのサウンド画かれるのは、メイデン全史でも最大級と言われるレア曲の宝庫。前述のように、これまで“NO PRAYER ON THE ROAD”の基準と言えば、公式級サウンドボード・アルバム『NO PRAYER OVER WEMBLEY』でしたが、本作はそこでも聴けない名曲ばっちり。早速、比較しながらフルセットの凄みを実感してみましょう。

『NO PRAYER OVER WEMBLEY』より４曲多いわけですが、特に美味しいのが「22 Acacia Avenue」でしょう。ご存知のように“FEAR OF THE DARK Tour”からは公式ライヴ作が量産されたわけですが、「22 Acacia Avenue」は演奏されず結局「ブルース／ヤニック」時代にはサウンドボードが残されなかった。本作は、その「サウンドボード代わり」でもあるわけです。そして、やはり圧巻なのが『NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING』ナンバーの猛ラッシュ。７曲中５曲がこのツアーでしか演奏されていないレア曲であり、これほど限定曲だらけのツアー自体が貴重（最多は“A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH World Tour”の７曲ですが、あれはアルバム再現という特殊事情でした）。
そしてそして、そんなフルショウを歌いきるブルースがスゴい。凄すぎる。ツアー全体を通して「BEAST ON THE ROAD時代のブルースが帰ってきた」と言われる好調ぶりだったわけですが、本作は輪をかけて凄い。『死霊復活』や『MAIDEN ENGLAND』では高音に苦しんでギャオギャオと誤魔化していた曲を難なく歌いきり、それどこから「まだまだイケるぜ？」と言わんばかりに伸ばしまくり、ヴィヴラートを加えまくる。とっくに耳タコなはずの「Die With Your Boots On」「Hallowed Be Thy Name」「Run To The Hills」も絶唱に改めて惚れ直す高揚感爆増バージョンなのです。
お世辞にも人気作とは言えない『NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING』。さらにフル・サウンドボード／プロショットがないという事情が重なり、ツアー現場がもの凄かったという事実はあまり知られていません。本作は、その真価を教えてくれる（クオリティ／パフォーマンス両面の）最高峰更新盤なのです。オーディエンス録音もしっかり押さえるマニアだけが知るメイデン桃源郷。どうぞ、永久保存プレス２CDでトコトン愉しみ尽くしてください！

The main press 2CD is exactly the new champion. It is a miracle new excavation album that boasts a quality comparable to the sound board name board “NO PRAYER OVER WEMBLEY” and allows you to enjoy the full show as a whole. But a live album is a live album. It is also human nature that the more excellent the content, the more the spectacle that spreads out “on the other side”. Therefore, we have also prepared a video that will make the image of the new masterpiece more colorful.
That’s why this work contains the same “Leiden performance on November 3, 1990 (Netherlands)” as the main press 2CD. It is the superb view audience shot. Anyway, the view is the best. It is taken diagonally from the right side of the stage (Dave Murray side), but there is no obstruction to block the view, and the viewpoint is high, whether it is the front row of the second floor stand seat. It is a field of view that looks directly at the stage, passing by the arena audience far overhead, and it seems that the members’ eyes are in line with each other.
“It also has a good sense of stability.” It doesn’t feel like it’s fixed with a tripod, but it’s wonderful that it doesn’t frame out even after following the fast-moving Bruce Dickinson and Steve Harris. This is surprisingly important. After all, “NO PRAYER ON THE ROAD” is a tour that is also known for its broken tension with the joining of Yannick Garz. The stage where even the normally immobile Dave Murray violently moves to the left and right, probably fueled by Yannick, is chaotic, and it is extremely difficult to keep shooting in an easy-to-view and easy-to-see manner. This work is a gem of a craftsman who casually performs the difficult task.
I’ll skip the setlist and hypertensive performances because they overlap with the main story, but when it comes to IRON MAIDEN footage, Eddie must be checked. Depending on the size of the venue, there may be only Eddie Takebai, but there is no need to worry about the Leiden performance of this work. Stilt Eddie appears in “Hooks In You”, and a giant Eddie jumps out of a coffin in “Iron Maiden”. Even in the entire history of Maiden, the huge Eddie of the “NO PRAYER ON THE ROAD” version is extremely valuable. It can be seen just a little bit on tour commercials (you can enjoy it with our gift “PRO-SHOT COLLECTION 1990-1991”), but there is no professional shot that captures the live performance. In that respect, this work is a superb view without any shields, and the powerful appearance scene of blowing a coffin is also suppressed. It is a famous scene that is so easy to see that it competes for 1st and 2nd place in all audience shots of “NO PRAYER ON THE ROAD”.
It is a video work that not only teaches us the “other side” of the main press 2CD, which has been a shocking work for a long time, but also witnesses the extremely rare “NO PRAYER ON THE ROAD” Eddie. One piece where you can experience a rare active full show in Maiden’s entire history. Please enjoy it together with the shocking new masterpiece “LEIDEN 1990 2ND NIGHT”.
本編プレス２CDは、まさに新王者。サウンドボード名盤『NO PRAYER OVER WEMBLEY』に匹敵するクオリティを誇りつつ、フルショウを丸ごと味わえてしまう奇跡の新発掘アルバムです。しかし、ライヴアルバムはライヴアルバム。内容が優れていればいるほど、その「向こう側」に広がる光景に想いが募るのも人情です。そこで、新名盤のイメージをググッとカラフルにしてくれる映像篇もご用意しました。
と言うわけで、本作に収められているのは本編プレス２CDと同じ「1990年11月３日ライデン公演（オランダ）」。その絶景オーディエンス・ショットです。とにかく見晴らしが最高。ステージ右側（デイヴ・マーレイ側）から斜めに撮影されているのですが、２階スタンド席の最前列なのか、視界を遮る遮蔽物がなく、視点も高い。アリーナ観客の遙か頭上を素通りしてステージを直視しており、メンバー達と目線が合いそうな視界なのです。
さらに安定感も良い。三脚でビシッと固定している感じではありませんが、動きの激しいブルース・ディッキンソンやスティーヴ・ハリスを追ってもフレームアウトしないのが素晴らしい。これは意外と重要。何しろ、“NO PRAYER ON THE ROAD”はヤニック・ガーズの加入でブッちぎれたテンションでも知られるツアー。ヤニックに煽られたのか普段は不動のデイヴ・マーレイまでもが右へ左へと激しく移動するステージは混沌としており、しっかり狙いを絞って観やすく撮影し続けるのは至難。本作は、その難行を何気なくサラッとこなす匠の逸品なのです。
セットリストやハイパーテンションなパフォーマンスについては本編解説とダブるので省略しますが、IRON MAIDEN映像と言えばチェックしておかなければいけないのがエディ。会場サイズによっては竹梅エディだけの事もありますが、本作のライデン公演は心配無用。「Hooks In You」で竹馬エディが登場し、「Iron Maiden」では棺桶から巨大エディが飛び出す。メイデン全史でも“NO PRAYER ON THE ROAD”版の巨大エディは極めて貴重。ツアーCMでほんのちょっと観られる（当店ギフトの『PRO-SHOT COLLECTION 1990-1991』でお楽しみ頂けます）のですが、ライヴ本番をしっかり捉えたプロショットは存在しない。その点、本作は遮蔽物ナシの絶景で、棺桶をぶっ飛ばすド迫力の登場シーンも押さえられている。“NO PRAYER ON THE ROAD”の全オーディエンス・ショットでも１・２位を争う（ライバルは当店ギフト『EDDIE’S HISTORY 1980-1998』でお馴染みのオールバニ映像くらい？）ほど見やすい名シーンなのです。
久々の衝撃作となった本編プレス２CDの「向こう側」を教えてくれるだけでなく、激レアな“NO PRAYER ON THE ROAD”エディも目撃できる映像作品です。メイデン全史でも類い希なるアクティヴなフルショウを現場体験できる１枚。どうぞ、衝撃の新名盤『LEIDEN 1990 2ND NIGHT』と併せてじっくりとお楽しみください。
