It is a transcendental audience recording of “May 8, 1983 Ipswitch Performance”.
[Legendary name recording that has served as an “official substitute”] In talking about this work, we must start with how special the “World Piece Tour” is. IRON MAIDEN is a band with an advanced official archive, but “World Piece Tour” is one of the exceptions. A medium-sized professional shot was recorded in “THE EARLY DAYS”, but there are only spot-like TV appearances. Even the “Somewhere On Tour”, also known for its unexplored region, has a full soundboard (regardless of quality), but there isn’t one in the “World Piece Tour”.Of course, when that happens, what is required is a super-name recording of “instead of a sound board”. The “World Piece Tour” has two top recordings, both of which are “like a sound board” going on the ground …. It’s a legendary recording that has actually been widely distributed as a sound board. And it is this two series that reprinted those two with the highest quality possible in 2022.

This work recorded at such a show is exactly the best sound with “super”. Even if you listen with headphones, you can not understand the hall sound component, the thick core explodes with a sense of zero distance, and the outline is clear. As mentioned above, it was distributed as a sound board, but that’s a super tight sound that can be insisted on.

“To Tame A Land” is especially the best. 本作を語るに当たっては、“World Piece Tour”がいかに特別かから始めなくてはならないでしょう。IRON MAIDENは公式アーカイヴの進んだバンドではありますが、“World Piece Tour”はその中でも例外中の例外。『THE EARLY DAYS』に中尺のプロショットが収録されましたが、他にはスポット的なTV出演だけ。同じく秘境で知られる“Somewhere On Tour”でさえ（質を問わなければ）フル・サウンドボードがあると言うのに、“World Piece Tour”には１本も存在しないのです。
当然、そうなってくると求められるのが「サウンドボード代わり」の超名録音。“World Piece Tour”には、その頂点録音は２本あり、いずれも「まるでサウンドボード」を地で行く……と言いますか、実際にサウンドボードとして広く流通してきた伝説の名録音なのです。そして、その２本を2022年に可能な最高峰クオリティで復刻したのが、今回の２連作なのです。

【さらにサウンドボード感を増したGRAF ZEPPELIN仕上げ】
これが秘境“World Piece Tour”の全景。公式DVD『THE EARLY DAYS』に収録されたドルトムント公演は全世界千秋楽だったわけですが、本作のイプスイッチ公演は真逆。『頭脳改革』リリースの一週間前となる「英国#1」の６公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなショウで記録された本作は、まさに「超」付きの極上サウンド。ヘッドフォンで聴いてもホール鳴り成分が分からず、極太な芯がゼロ距離感覚で炸裂し、輪郭もくっきりハッキリ。前述のようにサウンドボードとして流通していたわけですが、そりゃあ、これなら言い張れるハズだよ……という超タイト・サウンドなのです。
その素晴らしさは当店のプレス名盤『EAGLE’S NEST』でも広く知られてきたわけですが、本作はその最高峰を更新。一度、元のナチュラル・ソースにまで遡り、その上で「GRAF ZEPPELIN」が細密マスタリングで磨き込んだアップグレード盤なのです。「GRAF ZEPPELIN」は1/1000秒の狂いも許さないピッチ／位相の補整や帯域分析によるバランス調整など、異様な次元のマスタリング精度で知られますが、本作はそんな能書きをヌキにしても聴いて一発「超カッケェ！」サウンドが凄い。原音はタイトな一方で低音が薄く、ひと言で言えば「距離感はないけど軽い」サウンドでもありました。本作は、そんな低音の密度がグイッと力強く、しかも超タイト感はそのまま。ド密着で力強く、ゼロ距離のまま……そう、より一層「これサウンドボードじゃね？」になっているのです。
