The latest bullet from the HELLOWEEN competition live set series is here! “OSAKA 2008 (Shades 1407)” and “OSAKA 2013 (Shades 1410)” with GAMMA RAY released the other day have been very well received, but in fact, that sister work was not a double work but a triple work. A super powerful work of Melopower Coupling that fills the gap is born !!
This work was recorded on “February 27, 2011: Namba Hatch performance”. This is a superb audience recording that completely records the coupling visit of HELLOWEEN & STRATOVARIUS, the two giants of melodic power metal. The “HELLISH ROCK” visit to Japan with GAMMA RAY was held in 2008 and 2013, but HELLOWEEN visited Japan twice in the meantime. In 2012, there was only one performance in Loud Park, but in 2011 it was a coupling tour with STRATOVARIUS. In other words, it looks like this ↓.

A very thick core reaches the ear without a time lag in the clear air, and the details are super clear. Although the snare sound has a proof of audience recording, it is a brand that deserves to be called a “sound board” in terms of both clarity and directness.
Although the performance sound is like a sound board, this work also has a ferocious audience feeling. It’s the audience’s singing. After all, there are two big melopawa giants of the current generation, so the song is magnificent, magnificent, and exploding! However, if you imagine an annoying recording of a close voice here, that is not the case. This is also the personality of “Mr. Strongest”, but there is no close cheering or speaking voice around him. Even though a huge singing voice is clearly blowing out, it feels like it is boiling on the other side of the thick performance and vocals. While loving the sound and glue of metal, he firmly inherits the “secret of audience recording” that various recorders have accumulated since the 1970s. The sound that can be achieved only by Mr. “The Strongest” who has both research skin and metal soul is fully open.

HELLOWEENの競演ライヴセット・シリーズの最新弾が登場！　先日リリースされたGAMMA RAYとの『OSAKA 2008（Shades 1407）』『OSAKA 2013（Shades 1410）』が大好評を賜っていますが、実はあの姉妹作は二連作ではなく三連作でした。合間を埋めるメロパワ・カップリングの超強力作が誕生です!!
そんな本作が記録されたのは「2011年２月27日：なんばHatch公演」。メロディック・パワーメタルの二大巨頭HELLOWEEN & STRATOVARIUSのカップリング来日を完全収録した極上オーディエンス録音です。GAMMA RAYとの“HELLISH ROCK”での来日は2008年と2013年に実施されましたが、その合間にもHELLOWEENは二度来日。2012年はラウドパーク出演の１公演のみでしたが、2011年にはSTRATOVARIUSとのカップリング・ツアーでした。つまり、こんな↓感じです。

以上、６公演。全国のZeppを巡りつつ、大阪だけは例外という「別にいいんだけどさ」なスケジュールでもありました。そんなショウで記録された本作は、もちろん極上のオーディエンス。GAMMA RAYとの二連作と同じ“西日本最強テーパー”氏の秘蔵マスターなのですが、サウンドは輪をかけて素晴らしい。現場は『OSAKA 2008』と同じ“なんばHatch”なのですが、クオリティは『OSAKA 2013』に近く、さらにクリアさUP！　透き通る空気感の中を極太な芯がタイムラグもなく耳元に届き、ディテールも超鮮明。スネアの鳴りにオーディエンス録音の証も刻まれているものの、クリアさもダイレクト感も「まるでサウンドボード」と呼ぶに相応しい銘品なのです。
演奏音はサウンドボード調であるものの、本作には猛烈なオーディエンス感も宿っている。それは観客の唱和。何しろ、当代きってのメロパワ２大巨頭が揃っているのですから、その歌いっぷりは盛大・壮大・大爆裂！　ただし、ここで間近声のウザい録音をイメージされてしまうと、それは違う。これも“最強氏”の個性なのですが、周囲に間近な声援も話し声もない。巨大な歌声がハッキリ吹き出しているのに、それが極太な演奏やヴォーカルの向こう側で沸騰しているように感じられる。メタルの出音もノリも愛しつつ、70年代から様々な録音家が積み上げてきた「オーディエンス録音の極意」もしっかりと継承している。研究肌とメタル魂を併せ持つ“最強”氏だからこそ成し得るサウンドが全開なのです。

……と、このようになっています。『UNDER FLAMING WINTER SKIES』を濃縮したようなSTRATOVARIUSも特濃ですが、さらに圧倒的なのがHELLOWEEN。先日の『OSAKA 2008』『OSAKA 2013』でも丸っきりセットを入れ替えていましたが、合間の本作も両作で聴けないナンバーが５曲もてんこ盛り。しかも、単なる珍曲ではなくそのほとんどで大合唱が巻き起こる。一体、どれだけの名曲を持っているのか……。
さらに、本作は恒例のメドレーも超オイシイ「守護神伝ダイジェスト」。「Keeper Of The Seven Keys／The King For A 1000 Years／Halloween」というセレクトは『UNARMED』の「The Keeper’s Trilogy」と同じですが、アレンジは異なり当然エレクトリック。３大曲のエッセンスをまとめ上げた約16分間は、普段のメドレーよりも自然＆ダイナミックで、このままスタジオ録音史直して欲しいくらいの出来です。本作は歴史に残る２大巨頭の名曲がギュウ詰めの３枚組ですが、このメドレーだけでも十二分に価値があるのです。
