HELLOWEEN in 1989, who returned to Japan with the historic super-masterpiece “Keeper of the Seven Keys-Chapter 2”. Introducing a live set where you can experience the scene of the incident, which was so popular and inspired.
The performance of “May 28, 1989 Club Citta Kawasaki” is included in this work. It is a 3-disc set with the excellent audience recording on DISC 1-2 and the superb view audience shot on DISC 3. In early 1989, Kai Hansen was replaced by Roland Grapow, but the overwhelming super-masterpiece of “Keeper of the Seven Keys-Chapter 2” made him a popular eel climber. A return visit to Japan, far exceeding the first visit to Japan, has been organized. First, let’s look back on the schedule and confirm the position of the show.

The main part of this work is a two-disc full live album with excellent sound. It doesn’t feel like a sound board, but it makes you want to mistake the clearness and fine details (?). The straight core is as crisp as a laser beam, and the aura-like hall noise that rises from it gives thickness and dynamism without hiding the details. In particular, Michael Kiske’s vocals are captured on, and you can clearly taste from one word of the lyrics to the subtleties of the big vibrato. Speaking of music that suits audience recordings, symphonic rock with a lot of harmony comes to mind, but in fact, the “feeling of heaven” of melodic power metal also suits quite well. This work is a famous recording that combines the vividness and beauty of an audience that tells us even such unexpected facts.
And the audience shot of DISC 3 is a combination of the voice and the superb view. This is a really superb view. It is a stand seat that looks straight ahead at the center of the stage, but there are no obstacles, probably in the front row. You can see as much as you want from one end of the stage to the other, and the zoom that boldly approaches from there is also wonderful. What’s more, the sense of stability is amazing, even if you shake the camera or zoom in. There is no master deterioration in some parts such as “A Tale That Wasn’t Right”, but it is said that it is too central position, it is a sense of stability that can not be done without a tripod, maybe it depends on the people concerned It may be a photo shoot for materials. [The scene of the incident where the popularity of the climax was about to occur] With such a clear sound and a superb view, a full show with a concentrated guardian deity duology is drawn. … And it looks like this. The repertoire of the four-person era is limited to “How Many Tears”, and there are plenty of famous songs after joining Michael Kiske. The large songs “Halloween” and “Keeper Of The Seven Keys” are also available, and it is a set that seems to depict the true appearance of “Keeper of the Seven Keys”, which was originally supposed to be a two-disc set.
Although such a set alone is full, the must-listen / must-see is the opening “Eagle Fly Free”. No, it’s an absolute super masterpiece, but more than that is the big trouble of stopping the performance. Actually, at this time, the scene was flooded with spectators who lost their senses to the ultra masterpieces. The staff who was impatient with the momentum interrupted the show. The words spoken to the audience by the people involved with the microphone are super-realistic. Let’s write it out for a moment.
“Customers! Please listen carefully. It’s in a very dangerous state right now. Hey, people in the middle! Please listen carefully to the people in the front. It’s in a dangerous state because it’s rushing in. You can’t play as it is. (Omitted) Please calm down a little more slowly. I’ll take a break for a while. ”

… And it looks like this. This big boo has a lot of angry words, but the people involved seem to be veterans from the unyielding attitude. However, for UDO, this day was the first all-standing metal type, and I think he was so enthusiastic that he decided that it was dangerous. Well, it’s impossible to say “calm down” when Kisk sings “Eagle Fly Free” in front of you.
Anyway, this is also a historical document. It is also a proof of how Japanese metal people were burning in “Keeper of the Seven Keys”. It is a 3-disc set that allows you to fully experience such an incident (attempted?) Show with the best sound and superb view. Please enjoy the utopia of melodic power metal to your heart’s content!

歴史的な超名盤『守護神伝ー第二章ー』を引っさげ、日本に舞い戻ってきた1989年のHELLOWEEN。あまりの人気で一触触発となった事件現場を体験できるライヴ・セットが登場です。
そんな本作に収められているのは「1989年５月28日クラブチッタ川崎」公演。その絶品オーディエンス録音をDISC 1-2に、絶景オーディエンス・ショットをDISC 3に配した３枚組です。1989年初頭にはカイ・ハンセンからローランド・グラポウへ交代していたわけですが、『守護神伝ー第二章ー』の圧倒的な超名作ぶりに人気はうなぎ登り。初来日を遙かに超える再来日が組まれました。まずは、そのスケジュールを振り返り、ショウのポジションを確認しておきましょう。

【クリア・サウンドのライヴアルバムと絶景ショット】
以上、全９公演。後半は会場を変えつつも関東圏の連続６公演で占められていたわけですが、本作の川崎公演はその幕開けとなるコンサートでした。
そんな本作のメインとなるのは、絶品サウンドの２枚組フル・ライヴアルバム。サウンドボードと間違えるようなド密着感ではないものの、クリアさと細やかなディテールは間違えたくなる（？）。真っ直ぐに届く芯はレーザー光線のようにキリッとしていて、そこから立ち上るオーラのようなホール鳴りもディテールを隠すことなく厚みとダイナミズムを与えている。特にマイケル・キスクのヴォーカルがオンに捉えられており、歌詞の一語から大きなヴィヴラートの機微まで鮮明に味わえる。オーディエンス録音が似合う音楽と言えば、ハーモニーが降り注ぐシンフォニック・ロックが浮かびますが、実はメロディック・パワーメタルの「天翔け感」もかなり似合う。本作は、そんな意外な事実まで教えてくれるオーディエンスらしい生々しさと美しさを兼ね備えた名録音なのです。
そして、その音声に絶景が組み合わさったのがDISC 3のオーディエンス・ショット。これがもう、本当に絶景。真正面にステージ中央を見すえたスタンド席なのですが、最前列なのか遮蔽物は完全にゼロ。ステージの端から端まで観たいところを見放題ですし、そこから果敢に迫るズームも素晴らしい。しかも、カメラを振ってもズームで迫ってもビクともしない安定感が凄い。「A Tale That Wasn’t Right」など、一部でマスター劣化もなくはないのですが、あまりにもド中央なポジションといい、三脚なしにはあり得ない安定感といい、もしかしたら関係者による資料用撮影なのかも知れません。

そんなクリア・サウンド＆超絶景で描かれるのは、守護神伝二部作が濃縮されたフルショウ。その濃度を実感していただくためにも、ここでセットを整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。４人時代のレパートリーは「How Many Tears」だけに留め、マイケル・キスク加入後の名曲が盛りだくさん。大曲「Halloween」「Keeper Of The Seven Keys」も取り揃え、本来２枚組になるはずだった『守護神伝』の真なる姿を描いたかのようなセットです。
そんなセットだけでもお腹いっぱいなのですが、さらに必聴・必見なのが冒頭の「Eagle Fly Free」。いや、そりゃあ絶対の超名曲なわけですが、それ以上なのが演奏停止の大トラブルなのです。実はこの時、現場はウルトラ名曲に正気を失った観客が前方へ殺到。その勢いに焦ったスタッフがショウを中断させるのです。マイクを手にした関係者が観客に語りかける言葉が超リアル。ちょっと書き出してみましょう。
「お客さん！ よく聞いてください。今、大変危険な状態です。ちょっと、中段の人！ 前の方の人も、よく聞いてください。かなり押し寄せてきて危険な状態にあります。このままでは演奏できません。（中略）もうちょっとゆっくり冷静になってください。少しの間休憩しますんで」
《ここで大ブーイング》
「じゃあ、言う事聞いて！ 前に出てこないようにしてくださいっ!!」
……と、こんな感じなのです。この大ブーイングには結構な怒号も混じっているのですが、それにも押されない肝の据わった態度からすると関係者もベテランっぽい。しかし、UDOにとっては、この日がメタル系初のオール・スタンディングであり、あまりの熱狂に「こりゃヤバい」と判断したのでしょう。まあ、キスクが歌う本生「Eagle Fly Free」を目の前でブチかまされて「落ち着け」と言われても無理な話ではあるのですが……。
ともあれ、それもこれも歴史のドキュメント。いかに日本のメタル者が『守護神伝』に燃えていたかの証左でもあるのです。そんな事件（未遂？）なショウを極上サウンド＆超絶景でフル体験できる３枚組です。メロディック・パワーメタルの理想郷、どうぞ存分にお楽しみください！
