Heart in 1987 was in the midst of its greatest success, making “HEART” and “BAD ANIMALS” consecutive hits. The highest peak board of the sound board album that should be said to be its symbol is now available.
“August 30, 1987 Portland performance” is included in this work. It is the stereo sound board recording. Speaking of “BAD ANIMALS Tour”, it is the largest huge tour in HEART’s career that exceeds 120 performances in about a year, and it is memorable that the performance in Japan has been realized. First of all, let’s take a bird’s eye view of the whole view and check the position of the show.

This is HEART in 1987/1988. As a matter of fact, the previous “HEART Tour” had the same number of performances, but the performance locations were limited to North America and Japan. On the other hand, the “BAD ANIMALS Tour” also traveled to Europe. It was literally the biggest world tour of my career. That said, their main battlefield is still North America. The Portland performance of this work is the 7th performance of such “North America # 2”. It was an ideal timing show that healed the fatigue of the tour after about a month off, and warmed up the engine with a good arrangement from the restart.
This live is also famous for being broadcast on FM, and a number of pre-existing groups were born. It has reigned as a large classic among the classics that symbolize the heyday of HEART. While this work is also the sound board of the same champion, it is the supreme one that stands at the highest peak. The reason for asserting “the highest peak” is the sauce. It is directly digitized from the broadcast master of WESTWOOD ONE’s famous program “Superstars In Concert”. That’s why the sound is completely official. Not only is there no dubbing marks or tape deterioration, but the freshness that has never been passed through radio waves is the ultimate, and it is a completely different dimension from many air check groups.

Especially around “The Wolf” and “Nothin’ At All” did not return to the regular set at the end of this tour, and “Bad Animals” was almost the “BAD ANIMALS Tour ” ended with a limited song. And the performance that spells such a set is wonderful. In the “HEART Tour”, while receiving the wind of a big hit, I felt the attitude of the challenger who proved his ability as a live act, but here it is completely yokozuna sumo. It is a show of the champion who generously pours hit songs that are neither pushed nor pushed, and makes plenty of room.

これが1987年／1988年のHEART。実のところ、１つ前の“HEART Tour”も公演数的には同規模だったのですが、公演地は北米と日本に限定されていました。それに対して“BAD ANIMALS Tour”はヨーロッパにも遠征。文字通り、キャリア最大のワールド・ツアーとなりました。とは言え、彼女たちの主戦場はやはり北米。本作のポートランド公演は、そんな「北米#2」の７公演目。約１ヶ月のオフを挟んでツアー疲れを癒し、再スタートから良い案配に場数を踏んでエンジンも温まった理想的なタイミングのショウでした。
このライヴはFM放送された事でも有名で、数々の既発群も誕生。HEART全盛期を象徴する定番中の大定番として君臨してきました。本作も同じ王者のサウンドボードでありつつ、その最高峰に立つ至高の１本なのです。「最高峰」を断言する由縁はソース。WESTWOOD ONEの名番組“Superstars In Concert”の放送原盤からダイレクトにデジタル化されているのです。それだけにサウンドは丸っきり公式。ダビング痕やテープ劣化がないどころではなく、一度も電波を介していない鮮度は究極であり、幾多のエアチェック群とはまったくの別次元なのです。

……と、このようになっています。７ヶ月後の来日公演では演奏しなかった「Bebe le Strange」も披露しつつ、軸はあくまで『HEART』『BAD ANIMALS』の２作。特に「The Wolf」「Nothin’ At All」辺りはこのツアーを最後にレギュラー・セットに戻ることはありませんでしたし、「Bad Animals」に至ってはアルバムタイトル曲にもかかわらず、ほぼ“BAD ANIMALS Tour”の限定曲に終わりました。そして、そんなセットを綴る演奏が素晴らしい。“HEART Tour”では大ヒットの風を受けつつもライヴアクトとしての実力を証明するような挑戦者のアティチュードが感じられましたが、ここでは完全に横綱相撲。押しも押されもせぬヒット曲を惜しげもなく浴びせかけ、余裕たっぷりに沸かせまくる王者のショウなのです。
