The definitive board “STUDIO DEMOS 1981-1990”, which is a compilation of early demos / outtakes with the highest quality. The underground studio album that recorded a big hit will be restocked in the 2nd press.
What is engraved in this work is a studio recording of 52 tracks, 3 hours 48 minutes 41 seconds. From the first recording at HOLLYWOOD ROSE to the initial session of “USE YOUR ILLUSION”. Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin, Indiana teens, are a three-disc set that describes the process of becoming a world-shaking monster with the highest quality.
These initial demos / outtakes have been made into titles, but this work was re-compiled by overseas core enthusiasts. There are quite a lot of the same takes as the ones that have already been released, but I scrutinized the genes and noise of each song. It is knitted with the existing “vest”.
This work is a more up-to-date and meticulous remastering of the maniac collection. To be honest, many of the early demos of GUNS N’ROSES are the best take but the pitch is out of order. Even if the overseas enthusiasts mentioned above chose the best take, they left it as it was, and about 80% of them were out of pitch. In this work, they are just arranged and evenly adjusted even if the volume and sound pressure are different. We have realized a “case” that can be heard at once as a “studio work”. Let’s take a closer look at the recorded contents.

● DISC 1: HOLLYWOOD ROSE demo (1981)
First of all, 4 demo songs of HOLLYWOOD ROSE formed by Axel and Izzy. He has already performed the original songs of “Anything Goes” and “Reckless Life”, and some of them have also performed unreleased songs called “Taxi Driver”.
What’s even more vivid is the singing voice of Axel, who was a teenager (19 years old) at the time! Although it was a singing voice that had already been super-individualized and entered the hall, its youthfulness is unusual. The “childishness” gives a slight glimpse of the face, but it is not a childish voice. The tension of “first recording” is explosive, and the treble that stretches out is completely uncontrollable … I don’t feel like holding it down. You can truly enjoy the first step of a little monster with the best sound. It was

● DISC 1: APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION (1986 demo)
The era flew five years, and finally the run-up to the phenomenon board “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION” began. These are 11 early demo songs.
The HOLLYWOOD ROSE I mentioned earlier was an explosive tension that I didn’t know about tomorrow, but this is a professional. The tempo is also calm, and the performance with plenty of room for “confirmation for the time being” is impressive. Of course, it’s not just a “dull version of APPETITE”, it’s officially recorded with “Anything Goes” with different lyrics and different verses, instrumental jam “Ain’t Goin’Down”, and “USE YOUR ILLUSION”. There are plenty of things to listen to, such as the initial versions of “Don’t Cry,” “Back Off Bitch,” and “November Rain.”

● DISC 1-2: APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION (1986-1987 rehearsal)
From the last two songs of DISC 1, the whole DISC 2 is the rehearsal track at the time of “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION” production. Recorded in various studios from 1986 to 1987. Therefore, the quality is different, but it is generally clearer than the above demo. Unlike the demo, which was like a recording practice, it’s awesome! It’s just a gem of a take that seems to be a live recording of.
The content is also delicious. Eight of the 12 songs in “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION” are performed, which is exactly the appearance of “another APPETITE” and “studio live version APPETITE”. Not only that, 3 out of 4 songs from “LIVE?! * @ LIKE A SUICIDE”, “Don’t Cry” and “Back Off Bitch” from “USE YOUR ILLUSION”, and “Jumpin’Jack Flash” from Stones (2 versions). ) ”And Presley’s“ Heartbreak Hotel ”, a group of famous songs that they would normally play at that time. Not only is it the foundation of the phenomenon board “APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION”, but also the performances that approach the “essence” of GUNS N’ROSES, which created the masterpiece board, are drawn with the highest quality.

● DISC 3: LIVE?! * @ LIKE A SUICIDE (1986 outtake)
DISC 3 is even more professional! It is an outtake of the legendary EP “LIVE?! * @ LIKE A SUICIDE”. That masterpiece EP was a pseudo-live board with fake cheers on the studio recording, but this work is a version without cheers, 3 songs “Shadow Of Your Love” “Heartbreak Hotel” “Jumpin’Jack Flash” is also included.
Although it was indie, the recording for release was wonderful, and although it was a pseudo, the performance that went through on the “live board” was fierce. Even in this work with the best masters lined up, it’s definitely the highest … There is no other studio recording that is so intense in the entire history of GUNS N’ROSES. It is a special grade and top 7 songs.

● DISC 3: USE YOUR ILLUSION (early 1990 demo)
The last is 10 songs (11 tracks) of the initial demo of “USE YOUR ILLUSION”. The exact recording date and time is still unknown, but since the recording session started in January 1990, it is said to be in the vicinity.
The quality is like a demo, but the contents are still gems. Even though it is a session for “USE YOUR ILLUSION”, the songs recorded on the regular edition are about “Bad Obsession”, “The Garden” and “Yesterdays”. Others are storms of unreleased songs. Moreover, most of them have been completed as songs, and it is a regrettable masterpiece that they have been stored. In particular, “Crash Diet” is at the level of “whether you can write one song in your life” if you are a band of all ages. It was like recording a miscellaneous repertoire from the regular edition “USE YOUR ILLUSION I & II”, but there were still plenty of unknown masterpieces left … GUNS N’ROSES is a monster band that remains in rock history, but its driving force was inexhaustible creativity. It is a collection of demo tracks that reminds us of the monster.

そんな本作に刻まれているのは、全52トラック・３時間48分41秒に及ぶスタジオ録音。HOLLYWOOD ROSEでの初録音から『USE YOUR ILLUSION』の初期セッションに至るまで。インディアナ州のティーンだったアクセル・ローズとイジー・ストラドリンが、世界を揺さぶる怪物へと巨大化していった歩みを極上クオリティで綴る３枚組です。
こうした初期デモ／アウトテイクは、これまでもタイトル化されてきましたが、本作は海外のコアマニアが改めて編纂したもの。既発と同じテイクも結構多いのですが、その１曲１曲のジェネやノイズを精査。現存する「ベスト」で編み上げています。
本作は、そのマニアック・コレクションを更に最新・細心リマスタリング。正直なところ、GUNS N’ ROSESの初期デモはベスト・テイクではあってもピッチが狂っているものが多い。先述の海外マニアはテイクのベストは選んでも、それを素のままにしており、おおよそ８割方はピッチが狂っていました。本作では、それらをジャストに揃え、バラバラだった音量・音圧でも均一に調整。「スタジオ作品」として一気に聴き通せる“格”を実現いたしました。それでは、収録内容を詳しく見ていきましょう。

●DISC 1：HOLLYWOOD ROSEデモ（1981年）
まず登場するのは、アクセルとイジーが組んだHOLLYWOOD ROSEのデモ４曲。すでに「Anything Goes」「Reckless Life」の原曲も演奏しており、一部では「Taxi Driver」とも呼ばれる未発表曲も披露しています。
それ以上にとにかく鮮烈なのが、当時ティーン（19歳）だったアクセルの歌声！　すでに超・個性が出来上がって堂に入った歌声ではあるものの、その若々しさは尋常じゃない。“子供っぽさ”がほんのりと顔をのぞかせるわけですが、別に子供声なわけではない。“初めてのレコーディング”に臨む緊張とはしゃぎっぷりが爆発力になっており、伸びに伸びる高音はまったく抑えが利かない……と言いますか、押さえる気がない。まさにリトル・モンスターの第一歩が極上サウンドで味わえるのです。

●DISC 1：APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION（1986年デモ）
時代は５年飛んで、いよいよ現象盤『APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION』への助走が始まりました。その初期デモ11曲です。
先ほどのHOLLYWOOD ROSEは明日をも知らぬ爆裂テンションでしたが、こちらはグッとプロフェッショナル。テンポも落ち着いており、「とりあえず確認」的な余裕のある演奏ぶりが印象的です。もちろん、単に“ダレたバージョンのAPPETITE”なわけではなく、歌詞違いでヴァースも異なる「Anything Goes」やインストのジャム「Ain’t Goin’ Down」、『USE YOUR ILLUSION』で正規にレコーディングされる「Don’t Cry」「Back Off Bitch」「November Rain」の初期バージョン等々、聴きどころも目白押しです。

●DISC 1-2：APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION（1986-1987年リハ）
DISC 1最後の２曲からDISC 2全編を貫くのは、『APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION』制作時のリハーサル・トラック。1986年から1987年にかけ、さまざまなスタジオで録音されています。そのため、クオリティはまちまちなのですが、総じて上記のデモよりもクリア。レコーディングの練習のようだったデモとは違い、せーの！のライヴ録音らしく、勢いもテンションもグッと高まった珠玉のテイクばかりです。
その内容も美味しい。『APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION』の全12曲中８曲が演奏されており、まさに「もう１つのAPPETITE」「スタジオライヴ版APPETITE」の様相。それだけでなく『LIVE ?!*@ LIKE A SUICIDE』の４曲中３曲、『USE YOUR ILLUSION』の「Don’t Cry」「Back Off Bitch」、さらにはストーンズの「Jumpin’ Jack Flash（２バージョン）」やプレスリーの「Heartbreak Hotel」など、当時の彼らが普段から演奏していたであろう名曲群がズラッと揃っている。現象盤『APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION』の下地と言うだけでなく、その大名盤を生み出したGUNS N’ ROSESの“本質”に迫る演奏の数々が至高のクオリティで描かれるのです。

●DISC 3：LIVE ?!*@ LIKE A SUICIDE（1986年アウトテイク）
DISC 3は、さらにプロフェッショナル！　伝説のEP『LIVE ?!*@ LIKE A SUICIDE』のアウトテイクです。かの名作EPはスタジオ録音に偽の歓声を被せた疑似ライヴ盤だったわけですが、本作はその歓声抜きバージョン４曲に、未収録に終わった３曲「Shadow Of Your Love」「Heartbreak Hotel」「Jumpin’ Jack Flash」も収録しています。
インディーズとは言えリリース用録音はケタ違いに素晴らしく、疑似とは言え「ライヴ盤」で通った演奏は激烈。ベストマスターを並べた本作でも、間違いなくハイエスト……と言いますか、GUNS N’ ROSES全史でもこれほど強烈なスタジオ録音は他にない。特級にして頂点的な７曲です。

●DISC 3：USE YOUR ILLUSION（1990年初期デモ）
最後を締めるのは『USE YOUR ILLUSION』の初期デモ10曲（11トラック）。詳しい録音日時は未だ不明ですが、レコーディング・セッションは1990年１月に始まっていますので、その近辺とされています。
そのクオリティではデモらしいものですが、その中身はやはり珠玉。『USE YOUR ILLUSION』用セッションとは言っても、正規盤に収録された曲は「Bad Obsession」「The Garden」「Yesterdays」程度。その他は未発表曲の嵐なのです。しかも、そのほとんどがキチンと曲として完成しており、お蔵入りになったのが惜しいほどの名曲ぶり。特に「Crash Diet」は、そんじょそこらのバンドなら“人生に１曲書けるかどうか”のレベル。正規盤『USE YOUR ILLUSION I&II』からして雑多なレパートリーを録音しまくったような作りでしたが、まだまだ知られざる名曲がたっぷりと残っていた……。GUNS N’ ROSESはロック史に残る怪物バンドですが、その原動力は尽きない創作力にあった。その怪物ぶりを改めて思い知らされるデモトラック集なのです。

以上、全52トラック・３時間48分41秒の秘宝集です。『LIVE ?!*@ LIKE A SUICIDE』『APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION』『USE YOUR ILLUSION I&II』……並べるだけでタメ息が漏れる名盤を生み出し続けていた初期GUNS N’ ROSES。オリジナル・アルバムの原型と言うだけでなく、誰の目も気にすることなく音楽と向き合っていたスタジオの中。ステージとも違う素顔が詰まった３枚組です。2017年にリリースされ、大人気のうちに完売・廃盤となった３枚組。ここに2ndプレスで堂々の復刻です！
