Beyond official / unofficial, upgrade the most important sound source counted in the three major vertex sound boards of PROGRESS GENESIS. Introduced in Permanent Storage Press 2CD.
Suddenly I affirmed that it was a “three big sound board”, but probably no objection. Saying which one is inserted, the first one is “DEFINITIVE MONTREAL 1974 (Virtuoso 268/269)”, the highest peak of a regular live performance in the Peter Gabriel era, and the second one is “DEFINITIVE LAKELAND 1975”, the top of “Broadway Live”. (Virtuoso 363/364) ”. And the third one is this work. A super fine stereo soundboard recording of the masterpiece “Pittsburgh performance on April 13, 1976” that recorded the only ¬ “A TRICK OF THE TAIL TOUR” in which Bill Bruford participated. Yes, it’s an upgraded version of that super-master board “DEFINITIVE TRICK”!
Suddenly it was “three major” and “that master board”, and it became a “???” Let’s look back and look back at the show position.

[Blueford & GENESIS masterpiece sound board] This is the overall image of ¬ “A TRICK OF THE TAIL TOUR” realized by “GENESIS with Blueford”. Speaking of this tour, I was able to taste it in the official video work “IN CONCERT”, but it was the final performance in England. The Pittsburgh performance of this work was the 17th concert of the “North America” ​​leg about three months before that.
The sound board recorded at such a show is a big classic that has been loved for a long time as a symbol of ¬ “A TRICK OF THE TAIL TOUR”. The tour also features some of the finest soundboards from the Cleveland and Hammersmith performances, each of which has been upgraded over the course of a long history, and they have been fiercely competing to upgrade themselves. And it was “DEFINITIVE TRICK” that appeared in 2009 that won the top battle and reigned as the champion. After all, the Cleveland performance SBD is imperfect because of the cut (unfortunately), and the highest peak version of the Hammersmith performance SBD is not complete unity because it combines two sound sources. On the other hand, “DEFINITIVE TRICK” is a complete sound board that is consistent from beginning to end, and there is no audience complementation like there was on the existing board, and the sound quality is the best. It was a completely official class … No, it was a transcendent live album of “Complete Official Transcendence”.

[Upgrade using all means] Only sold as a super-master board, sold out and discontinued with great popularity. It has been difficult to obtain it for about 10 years. This work is a further brush up of the transcendent sound board that has no surplus. Under the policy of “things that exceed the ultimate are the ultimates”, we have achieved a top board that pursues all possibilities. In the first place, “DEFINITIVE TRICK” itself was a historic peak sound, so you might be wondering “How can I improve that!”, But this time, it’s a little closer to the microscope level. I made a thorough correction.
There are various types, but the easiest thing to understand is the pitch. Of course, it wasn’t crazy at the time of “DEFINITIVE TRICK”, but it’s a total story. This time, one song per song … No, even within one song, the pitch that was slightly changed (at the level of a few percent of the phone) was adjusted accurately. Not only the pitch that does not allow a momentary shift, but also the phase shift and the momentary high drop of one channel were corrected. I would like to mention only one of them, “White Mountain”, because there is no sharpness. The pitch, which was 4% higher, was lowered, and the master deterioration that had been in the 2 minutes range was also cleaned up. Each one is at a level where you can finally notice it by listening to it, but by penetrating it throughout, you can feel the “work feeling”.
GENESIS masterpieces that have been dyed and modified by the hero Bruford’s virtuosity are drawn with the highest peak update quality. The set is too famous, but this work is also the ultimate, so let’s organize it and write it down.

Originally, it should be devoted to the energetic performance of Phil Collins who lost Gabriel, but that is probably the case now. As I touched on at the beginning, regardless of whether it is official or unofficial, it is one of the best trilogy sound boards left by Progure Genesis, and you can enjoy Bruford’s fine arts with subtle touches of each stroke The ultimate live album. It is a masterpiece that has updated its “extreme”. A cultural heritage that goes beyond the dimension of “GENESIS masterpiece” and may symbolize the music genre “progressive rock” itself. 突然“3大サウンドボード”と勝手に断言させていただきましたが、恐らく異論は出ないでしょう。どれを差しているかと言いますと、1本目はピーター・ガブリエル時代の通常ライヴの最高峰『DEFINITIVE MONTREAL 1974(Virtuoso 268/269)』、2本目は“ブロードウェイ・ライヴ”の頂点盤『DEFINITIVE LAKELAND 1975(Virtuoso 363/364)』。そして、3本目が本作。ビル・ブルーフォードが参加した唯一の¬“A TRICK OF THE TAIL TOUR”を記録した最高傑作「1976年4月13日ピッツバーグ公演」の超極上ステレオ・サウンドボード録音。そう、あの超名盤『DEFINITIVE TRICK』のアップグレード盤なのです!

これが「ブルーフォード入りGENESIS」が実現した¬“A TRICK OF THE TAIL TOUR”の全体像。このツアーと言えばオフィシャルの映像作品『IN CONCERT』でも味わえたわけですが、それは最終盤の英国公演。本作のピッツバーグ公演は、その約3ヶ月前となる「北米」レッグ17公演目のコンサートでした。
そんなショウで記録されたサウンドボードは、まさに¬“A TRICK OF THE TAIL TOUR”の象徴として長く長く愛されてきた定番中の大定番。このツアーには他にもクリーヴランド公演やハマースミス公演の極上サウンドボードも有名で、長い歴史の間にそれぞれがアップグレードを繰り返し、まるで鎬を削るように熾烈なアップグレード競争を繰り広げてきました。そして、その頂点決定戦に勝ち抜き、王者に君臨したのが2009年に登場した『DEFINITIVE TRICK』だった。何しろ、クリーヴランド公演SBDは(惜しいところで)カットがあるために不完全であり、ハマースミス公演SBDの最高峰版は2つの音源を組み合わせているために完全な統一感までは至っていない。それに対して『DEFINITIVE TRICK』は終始一貫の完全サウンドボードであり、既発盤にあったようなオーディエンス補完なども一切なく、サウンド・クオリティもベスト。まさに完全オフィシャル級……いえ、「完全オフィシャル超越」の超絶ライヴアルバムだったのです。

それだけの超名盤だけに、大人気のうちに完売・廃盤。約10年に渡って入手の難しい状況が続いてきました。本作は、そんな今なお超える物のない超絶サウンドボードをさらにブラッシュ・アップ。「究極を超える物は究極自身」のポリシーの下、あらゆる可能性を追求しきった頂点盤を実現したのです。そもそも『DEFINITIVE TRICK』自体が歴史的な頂点サウンドだっただけに「アレをどうやってアップできるのか!?」と疑問に思われるかも知れませんが、今回はそれはもう微に入り細に入って顕微鏡レベルの補正を徹底的に行ったのです。
いろいろとあるのですが、一番分かりやすいのはピッチ。もちろん『DEFINITIVE TRICK』の時点でも狂ってはいませんでしたが、それはあくまでもトータルでの話。今回は1曲1曲……いえ、1曲内でも(ホンの数%レベルで)微妙に変化していたピッチまで正確に調整。一瞬のズレも許さないピッチだけでなく、さらに位相のズレ、片チャンネルの瞬間的なハイ落ちも残らず補正したのです。挙げていけばキリがないので1つだけ代表しますと「White Mountain」。4%高くなっていたピッチを下げ、2分台にあったマスター劣化も綺麗になっている。1つひとつは既発と聴き比べてようやく気づくレベルではあるものの、それが全体を貫くことで「作品感」がグッと上がって感じられるのです。

……と、このようになっています。約半数が『IN CONCERT』では聴けない曲ですし、「Supper’s Ready」や「Fly On A Windshield」等もちゃんと完全形。『SECONDS OUT』では「The Cinema Show」しか叶わず、クリーヴランドSBDでは聴けなかった「Entangled」「Squonk」も含め、「ブルーフォード版GENESIS」のフルショウを超極上サウンドボードで楽しめるのです。
