FLEETWOOD MAC in 1987 when Lindsey Buckingham left and stood at a big turning point while making “TANGO IN THE NIGHT” a hit. A sound board album that conveys the live performance is now available.
This work was recorded on “November 28, 1987 in Salt Lake City”. It is the stereo sound board recording. Speaking of the soundboard of “SHAKE THE CAGE Tour”, our shop’s “ROCK AM RING 1988 (Uxbridge 373)” is popular as a standard, so let’s look back on the tour as a whole .

This is the 1987/1988 FLEETWOOD MAC. The Salt Lake City performance of this work was a concert corresponding to 33 performances of the main “North America” leg. This “North America” leg also left the official video “TANGO IN THE NIGHT” of the San Francisco performance, but this work is also half a month before that.
Such a show is also known for its wonderful soundboard recordings, but this work is the highest peak update board. Recently, an upgrade master has been released on the net, but it is further mastered by itself. We thoroughly treated it and maximized the potential of the original sound.
Of course, even so, we didn’t do meaningless sound pressure gains or forceful digital processing. As a matter of fact, it was good that the original sound released on the net had less noise than the conventional master, but the phase was spectacularly shifted. As a result, the localization shifted to the left, and the details were blurred due to the reverberation. This work carefully corrects such a phase. Not only has the localization become central, but the direct feeling of the crisp core has been dramatically improved. This is what “mastering to restore the original charm” means. As a result, it is finished in a sound of a different class.
Such an upgraded sound is a treasure trove of famous songs overflowing with hit songs up to the last multi-platinum album “TANGO IN THE NIGHT”. As mentioned above, the symbol of this tour is the official video “TANGO IN THE NIGHT”, but that is an edited work that was greatly excerpted in about an hour. On the other hand, this work is a 2-disc full live album that lasts 1 hour and 52 minutes, and contains plenty of repertoire that cannot be heard in the official video. However, our standard soundboard album “ROCK AM RING 1988” was also a two-disc full album, but “Over My Head” and “Rattlesnake Shake” are delicious numbers that I could not listen to even in that masterpiece.
It’s a gorgeous set, but it’s not just a hit parade. Stevie Nicks’ solo and BUCKINGHAM NICKS’ “Don’t Let Me Down Again” are also featured, and even the Peter Green era repertoire is shown (especially “Rattlesnake Shake” is a valuable song that will not be played at the end of this tour) . It is also a show that casually summarizes the long history.
The “SHAKE THE CAGE Tour”, which still boasts high popularity, was forced to change after Lindsey left. It is the highest peak update board of the sound board album that pours the live performance into the brain. It’s the original sound that I want people who despise online sound sources as “it’s not bad, but it’s not good enough” to touch it. Please enjoy it to the fullest.

『TANGO IN THE NIGHT』をヒットさせつつ、リンジー・バッキンガムが去って大きなターニング・ポイントに立っていた1987年のFLEETWOOD MAC。その生演奏を伝えるサウンドボード・アルバムが登場です。
そんな本作が記録されたのは「1987年11月28日ソルトレイクシティ公演」。そのステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。“SHAKE THE CAGE Tour”のサウンドボードと言えば、当店の『ROCK AM RING 1988（Uxbridge 373）』が定番として親しまれてもおりますので、それも交えつつ、ツアー全体像を振り返ってみましょう。

これが1987年／1988年のFLEETWOOD MAC。本作のソルトレイクシティ公演は、そのメインである「北米」レッグの33公演にあたるコンサートでした。この「北米」レッグはサンフランシスコ公演の公式映像『TANGO IN THE NIGHT』も残されましたが、本作はその半月前でもあります。
そんなショウは素晴らしいサウンドボード録音が残された事でも知られるのですが、本作はその最高峰更新盤。最近になってネットにアップグレード・マスターが公開されたのですが、それをさらに独自マスタリング。しっかりとトリートメントして原音の可能性を最大限に引き出したのです。
もちろん、そうは言っても無意味な音圧稼ぎやムリヤリなデジタル加工はしておりません。実のところ、ネット公開された原音は従来マスターよりもノイズが少なくて良かったのですが、位相が豪快にズレていた。そのため定位が左に思いっきりズレ、しかも残響感でディテールがボケボケになっていたのです。本作はそんな位相を丁寧に補正。定位が中央になっただけでなく、ビシッとした芯のダイレクト感が格段に向上している。「本来の魅力を取り戻すマスタリング」とはこういう事。その結果、まるで別物級のサウンドに仕上がっているのです。
そんなアップグレード・サウンドで画かれるのは、最後のマルチプラチナ・アルバム『TANGO IN THE NIGHT』までの大ヒット曲が溢れ出す名曲の宝箱。前述のように、このツアーの象徴と言えば公式映像『TANGO IN THE NIGHT』なわけですが、あれは約１時間に大幅抜粋された編集作。それに対して本作は１時間52分に及ぶ２枚組のフル・ライヴアルバムであり、公式映像では聴けないレパートリーもたっぷりと収録されています。ここで比較しながら整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。「＊」印だらけであり、比較にならない曲数ボリュームなのがご理解頂けるでしょう。もっとも当店の定番サウンドボード・アルバム『ROCK AM RING 1988』も２枚組のフルアルバムだったわけですが、「Over My Head」や「Rattlesnake Shake」はあの名作でも聴けなかった美味しいナンバーだったりします。
いかにも豪華なセットではありますが、単なるヒット・パレードでもない。スティーヴィ・ニックスのソロやBUCKINGHAM NICKSの「Don’t Let Me Down Again」も取り上げられ、さらにピーター・グリーン時代のレパートリーまで披露（特に「Rattlesnake Shake」はこのツアーを最後に演奏されなくなる貴重曲）。さり気なく長い歴史を総括するようなショウにもなっているのです。
まだまだ高い人気を誇りつつ、リンジーが抜けて変化も余儀なくされていた“SHAKE THE CAGE Tour”。その生演奏を脳みそに流し込んでくれるサウンドボード・アルバムの最高峰更新盤です。ネット音源で「悪くないけど、今いち」と侮っている方にこそ触れて頂きたい、本来のサウンド。どうぞ、存分にお楽しみください。
