FLEETWOOD MAC in 1980, who came to Japan for the second time during the peak of popularity. A further original recording that conveys the scene is now available.
The performance of “February 17, 1980: Osaka Festival Hall” is imbued in this work. It is an excellent audience recording that tells the whole story. Speaking of performances in Japan in 1980, I have archived various masterpieces such as the recently released press masterpiece “KYOTO 1980 (Wardour-535)” and the sound board album “YOKOHAMA 1980 (Uxbridge 1798)”. First of all, let’s organize our collection according to the schedule of visit to Japan at that time.

A total of 10 performances. The last was the Osaka Festival Hall for two consecutive days, and this work was recorded on the last day. I think some people have already come to the pin, but in fact this recording was used to supplement the final part of the press masterpiece “KYOTO 1980” the other day. It is the full length version.
As you can imagine from the fact that it was used to complement the press title, the sound is really wonderful. It is an original recording that was once excavated from the Masterport label as “SONGBIRD IN OSAKA”, and if the core is very thick, the sound is neat. It is not a type that can be mistaken for a sound board, but it does not feel far away. Actually, the sound is thicker, but the core that penetrates the middle has a rushing power, and the core with plenty of density without a feeling of scalyness is approaching in front of you. Therefore, the thickness of the ringing is converted into dynamism instead of cloudiness or turbidity. It’s a type of sound where the core delivers powerful details, rather than transparent details.
A full show different from “KYOTO 1980” and “YOKOHAMA 1980 SOUNDBOARD” is depicted with such a thick sound. It doesn’t mean that it’s a different live performance every time, but the set is also changing, so let’s organize it while comparing.

Combined with “Tusk”, which was not heard in “YOKOHAMA 1980 SOUNDBOARD”, “Fang (Task)” is also featured, and it is also a show with a richer scent of the golden age.
In 1980, he returned to Japan three years after his first visit. The third visit to Japan was 10 years later in 1990, the last was in 1995, and the appearance of “Golden Five” with Lindsey Buckingham was fading. This work is a live album where you can fully experience the last Japanese performance of such a golden age with dynamic sound. A cultural heritage from Japan. そんな本作に吹き込まれているのは「1980年２月17日：大阪フェスティバルホール」公演。その一部始終を伝える絶品オーディエンス録音です。1980年の来日公演と言えば、先日リリースされたプレス名盤『KYOTO 1980（Wardour-535）』やサウンドボード・アルバム『YOKOHAMA 1980（Uxbridge 1798）』など、様々な傑作でアーカイヴしてきました。まずは、当時の来日スケジュールで当店コレクションを整理してみましょう。

以上、全10公演。そのラストは大阪フェスティバルホール２日連続公演であり、本作が記録されたのは最終日の方でした。もうピンと来られている方もいらっしゃると思いますが、実はこの録音は先日のプレス名盤『KYOTO 1980』の終盤パートで補完に使用されたもの。その全長版なのです。
プレス・タイトルの補完に使用された事からもご想像頂けると思いますが、そのサウンドは実に素晴らしい。かつてMasterportレーベルから『SONGBIRD IN OSAKA』として発掘されたオリジナル録音でして、芯も極太なら鳴りも端正。サウンドボードと間違えるようなタイプではありませんが、かと言って遠さも感じない。実のところ鳴りも厚めではあるのですが、そのド真ん中を貫く芯に突進力があり、スカスカ感のない密度たっぷりな芯が目の前にグイグイと迫ってくる。そのため、鳴りの厚みが曇りや濁りではなくダイナミズムに転化されている。透明感によってディテールが透けるのではなく、芯がパワフルにディテールを届けてくれるようなタイプのサウンドなのです。
そんな極太サウンドで画かれるのは、『KYOTO 1980』とも『YOKOHAMA 1980 SOUNDBOARD』とも異なるフルショウ。毎回違う生演奏という意味ではなくセットも変化していますので、比較しつつ整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。前述のように、終盤４曲「World Turning」「Go Your Own Way」「Sisters Of The Moon」「Songbird」は『KYOTO 1980』に転用されたわけですが、さらに「What Makes You Think You’re The One」も披露。『YOKOHAMA 1980 SOUNDBOARD』で聴けなかった「Tusk」とも合わせると『牙（タスク）』も取り上げられており、より一層黄金時代の薫りが濃厚なショウでもあるのです。
初来日から３年で実現した1980年の再来日。三度目の来日は10年後の1990年、最後は1995年であり、リンジー・バッキンガムもいる“黄金の５人”の面影は色あせる一方でした。本作はそんな黄金時代最後の日本公演をダイナミック・サウンドでフル体験できるライヴアルバムなのです。まさに日本発の文化遺産。どうぞ、この機会に存分に味わい尽くしてください。
