[Eric Clapton 2009 The best master on the last day of RAH continuous performance is now available! ]

In Eric Clapton’s treasured sound source, two types of first public masters of 11 consecutive performances at the Royal Albert Hall in 2009 brought from a heavyweight taper who lives in England familiar to our store. Another master was the DAT master completely recorded in the best stereo audience recording on May 31st, the 11th performance, the final day. This master is also of the same level as the “Royal Albert Hall 2009 10th Night DAT Master” released at the same time this time, it is a superb quality with a wonderfully clear and sound balance. Moreover, it is attractive that the set list is different from “Royal Albert Hall 2009 10th Night DAT Master”. There are no trouble spots because of the familiar taper recording. On top of that, the sound boasts a musical tone like a soundboard recording, the closeness of vocals, and a good sound balance.

Especially this master, Clapton’s guitar and second guitar (third guitar at the end) are amazing. After the entry of Doyle Bramhall II in the final stage, you can see his accurate support. Of course, even the fine nuances of Clapton are firmly captured. From this continuous performance, “Royal Albert Hall 2009 5th Night DAT Master” and “Royal Albert Hall 2009 9th Night DAT Master” have been released from our shop as already-released boards, but you can enjoy this continuous performance together with them. It is one work. A Japan tour was also held in 2009, and the sound source was released, but the set list and band members have changed from the time of the Japanese performance, and it can be said that it is an indispensable content for Clapton’s live performance in the middle of this year. .

And the day of this work was the last day of 11 consecutive performances at the local Royal Albert Hall. It was a long performance that had been held for two weeks from May 16th, but it also became the final performance on this day. In other words, it was the last performance in front of the local fans, so it could be said that it was the most fired up day of the 11 days. I would like you to pay attention to those who like the sound source of this year’s Japan tour, first of all, the drummer was changed from Abe Laborial Jr. to Steve Gadd. Speaking of Clapton’s songs, it can be said that there is no longer a “fit” selection than Gadd.

With that absolute sense of security, Clapton has changed the set list dramatically from the time of the Japan tour. It’s different from the opening number. A surprise called Going Down Slow for the first time in eight years since the 2001 “Reptile Tour”. Both this song and Old Love are played in the arrangement at the time of “Pilgrim Tour” in 1998. This is probably due to the fact that Tim Carmon was on the keyboard even in 1998, and Carmon’s synth solo in Old Love is also wonderful, but since 1992, taking advantage of his synthesizer playability Also listen to the heavy performance of Anything For Your Love for the first time in 17 years. エリック・クラプトンの秘蔵音源では当店でお馴染みのイギリス在住の重鎮テーパーからもたらされた2009年ロイヤル・アルバート・ホール11連続公演の初公開マスター二種。もう一つのマスターは、11公演目、最終日に当たった5月31日の極上ステレオ・オーディエンス録音で完全収録したDATマスターでした。本マスターも、今回同時リリースの「Royal Albert Hall 2009 10th Night DAT Master」と同レベルの、素晴らしくクリアでサウンドバランスの良い極上クオリティです。しかも「Royal Albert Hall 2009 10th Night DAT Master」とはまたセットリストが異なっているのが魅力です。手馴れたテーパーの録音ゆえに、トラブル箇所は一切ありません。その上でサウンドは、ちょっと聴けばサウンドボード録音のような楽音、ボーカルの近さとサウンドバランスの良さを誇るものです。

特にこのマスター、クラプトンのギターとセカンドギター（終盤はサードギター）のセパレート感が凄いです。終盤のドイル・ブラムホールⅡの飛入り以降は、彼の的確なサポートぶりが手に取るように判ります。もちろんクラプトンの細かなニュアンスまでもしっかり捉えています。この連続公演からは既発盤として当店から「Royal Albert Hall 2009 5th Night DAT Master」、「Royal Albert Hall 2009 9th Night DAT Master」がリリースされていますが、それらと併せてこの連続公演をお楽しみいただける一作です。2009年はジャパン・ツアーも行なわれ、その音源もリリースされていますが、日本公演時とはセットリストもバンドメンバーも変わっており、この年中盤のクラプトンのライブとしてははずせない内容だと言えます。

チャリティイベントやテレビ番組にも出演し、世界各地でツアーも行なった非常に精力的な活動の一年だったことがお分かりいただけるでしょう。ここには日本でのジェフ・ベックとのジョイント・コンサートも含まれていました。

そして本作の日は、地元ロイヤル・アルバート・ホールでの11連続公演の最終日に当たっていました。5月16日から2週間に亘り行なわれてきた長丁場の公演でしたが、それもこの日で千秋楽となったわけです。言わば、地元ファンの前での最後の公演ということで、11日間でも最も気合の入った日だったと言えます。この年のジャパン・ツアーの音源を気に入っておられる方にも是非注目いただきたいのが、まずはドラマーがエイブ・ラボリアル・ジュニアからスティーヴ・ガッドに替わっていたことです。クラプトンの楽曲と言えば、もはやガッドほど「はまる」人選はないと言ってもいいほどです。

その絶対的な安心感から、クラプトンはジャパン・ツアー時とは劇的にセットリストを変更してきたのです。オープニングナンバーからして違います。01年の「レプタイル・ツアー」以来8年ぶりとなるGoing Down Slowというサプライズ。この曲もOld Loveも、共に98年の「ピルグリム・ツアー」の時のアレンジでプレイされています。このあたりは、98年当時にもキーボードにティム・カーモンがいたことが主因と考えられ、Old Loveでのカーモンのシンセソロも素晴らしいものですが、彼のシンセサイザーのプレイアビリティを活かしての、92年以来17年ぶりとなったAnything For Your Loveの重厚なパフォーマンスも聴きものです。注目は、前日にはGot to Get Better in a Little Whileをプレイした前半のハイライトに、この日はI Shot the Sheriffを持ってきたことです。Got to Get Better～も素晴らしかったのですが、やはりクラプトンと言えばこの曲にトドメを刺します。ご本人も最後にはやはりこの曲がプレイしたかったのでしょう。その気合を感じさせる素晴らしいソロが炸裂しています。今年の日本公演もそうでしたが、やはりいつ聴いてもこの曲でのクラプトンのプレイは感慨深いものです。アコースティックセットでは、前日のレア曲Three Little Girlsのみはずした形でのパーフォーマンスとなっています。 アコースティックセットの締めには、03年以来となるSomewhere Over The Rainbowを持ってきたことも新鮮です。6年振りの演奏となったこの曲は、この年（つまりこの公演）が最後の演奏となりました。以降はセットインしていませんので、最後の演奏として貴重なテイクです。

後半は王道的なセットリストでじっくり聴かせる構成になっていましたが、この日もドイル・ブラムホールⅡがラスト3曲で飛入り参加しています。前日にも聴かせた彼ならではの好サポートが光っています。これを聴くと、Laylaはやはりエレクトリックバージョンがいいなと思います。ジャパン・ツアーの後に行なわれたという珍しい日程だったロイヤル・アルバート・ホール公演でしたが、ドラマーがチェンジし、11連続公演という中でセットリストも日毎にコロコロ変わっただけに、日本公演とはまた違った魅力に溢れているパフォーマンスが極上音質で完全収録されています。その最終日ということで、本作もはずせない一作に違いありません。精力的に活動していた2009年のクラプトンの代表的音源として是非本作もコレクションに加えていただければと思います。
