新型コロナウィルス感染からの復帰以降、精力的にツアーを敢行しているエリック・クラプトンの最新ヨーロッパ・ツアーから、初日の10月9日イタリア、ボローニャ公演の素晴らしいオーディエンスショットを先日「Bologna 2022 1st Night」としてリリース致しましたところ、大好評をいただきました。優良映像を最速リリースして良かったと、スタッフ一同手ごたえを感じたのですが、なんと、このタイミングで別アングル＆別オーディオ・マスターをシンクロさせた高品質バージョンが登場しました。前作は、ステージに向かって正面やや左の2階スタンド席からのアングルで、ニーアップのクラプトンを良好に捉えていましたが、本盤はステージに向かって左30度くらいの2階スタンドからのアングルとなっています。クラプトンをしっかり見下ろして全身をアップで収めています。引きのフレームには、ステージ左、背中姿のポール・キャラックからステージ右、ピアノのクリス・スティントンを捉えており、とにかく画質・音質クオリティが前作よりも確実にワンランク上で、同日のイタリア公演で、こんな凄い映像2種があっさりとアップされたことが驚きで、これが現代ということなのでしょう。さらに前作は曲間をエディットした94分の収録でしたが、本盤は7分も長い101分収録となっており、本盤が真の完全版と呼べる内容です。あらゆる意味で本盤の方が映像作品としては優れていると断言できます。
改めてこの公演について触れておきますと、このボローニャ公演を含む今回のヨーロッパ・ツアーは本来5月に予定されていたものですが、クラプトンが新型コロナに感染してしまったために延期され、リスケジューリングされたものでした。リスケは、3箇所4公演。以下となっていました。

その初日となったボローニャ公演を捉えたのが本作で、この日のクラプトンは、9月のアメリカン・ツアーからは少し髪をカットしていて、グレーのシャツにグレーのチョッキを身に付けています。ボトムスはジーンズに白のスニーカーというカジュアルな出で立ちです。コロナからの復帰以降の元気な様子は変わらずで、かっこいいクラプトンのタイトで余裕に満ちたパフォーマンスが楽しめます。9月のアメリカン・ツアーに続き、10月の最新ヨーロッパ・ツアーの極上映像まで出てくるとは、いい時代になりました。

この公演の魅力は、今年77歳を迎えたクラプトンの、9月のアメリカン・ツアー時と同様の元気な姿が観られるということのみならず、バリバリの現役に相応しい弾き捲るステージを堪能できることです。セットリストは前月のアメリカン・ツアーと変わりませんが、各曲それぞれに聴きどころとメリハリが用意されており、まさに「充実のステージ」ということに尽きます。River Of Tearsでは、クラプトンの入魂のボーカルに拍手が沸き起っています。続くI Shot The Sheriffの後奏のソロでは、全盛期のプレイと遜色のない弾き捲り、鋭いフレーズの畳み掛けがあります。オーディエンスもこの出来栄えには感動したようで、大喝采です。前半のハイライトは、クラプトンの意図どおりここにあります。シッティングセットに移っての、この日の日替わりブルースは、マディ・ウォータースのCountry Boyでした。ドイル・ブラムホールのディープなブルースハープが聴きものです。Tears In Heavenでは、アメリカン・ツアー時と同様、中間のオルガンソロで故ゲイリー・ブルッカーへの追悼を込めた「青い影」の一節がプレイされています。親友への想いを忘れないクラプトンの姿勢に、会場からは万来の拍手が沸き起っています。後半は王道の有名曲パレードです。The Sky Is Cryingもしっかりやってます。素晴らしい公演を観た気分にさせてくれる優れた映像です。9月のアメリカン・ツアーから、当店が逸早くリリースしましたコロンバス公演やマジソン・スクエア・ガーデン2DAYS公演のCDを聴いていただいた方なら、そのビジュアル版としてもお楽しみいただけると思います。もちろん今年のクラプトンは未聴、未見という方でも、このリアルタイムの「充実クラプトン」には、きっと感じられるところがあるでしょう。「Bologna 2022 1st Night」をお持ちの方も、また違った座席でコンサートを観た気分にさせてくれる本盤を是非ご覧いただければと思います。
