アルバムが立て続けにヒットしたことでワーナー時代における初の完全バンドツアー（89年はソロの方が多かった）「COME BACK IN A MILLION YEARS」を実現させた1991年のエルヴィス・コステロ。
当時大きな話題を呼びながら、一方でアイテムが非常に少ない時期でもあったのですが、今になってマイク・ミラード録音の存在が明らかとなった衝撃のリリース『LOS ANGELES 1991: MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPES』から早一年。また新たな「COME BACK～」ツアーを捉えた驚きのミラード・マスターが発掘されたのです。
前作『LOS ANGELES 1991～』の舞台となったウィルタン・シアター（むしろストーンズ・ファンにおなじみかと）での公演は間にMTVアンプラグドの収録などを挟みながら散り散りのスケジュールで行われており、そんなウィルタンでの初日をミラードが捉えてくれました。

再生ボタンを押すやいなや驚かされるのは、あの『LOS ANGELES 1991: MIKE MILLARD MASTER TAPES』をも超える見事なミラードの仕事ぶり。
あれほど高音質に思えた前作のレベルを余裕で超えてしまった今回の録音状態、それは完全にサウンドボード・クラス。おまけに前作はウィルタン四夜目の録音だったの対し、今回は何と初日にしてこの超絶録音。仮に今回のミラード・マスターがリアタイで広まっていたとしたら間違いなくプレス盤でリリースされていたとしてもおかしくない。
逆に言えば「COME BACK IN A MILLION YEARS」ツアーが今やマイナー期の部類となってしまったせいで今回は残念ながらCD-Rリリースとなるのですが、それにしてもこの音質は最高としか言いようがない。

惜しむらくはオープニングに演奏された当時リリース前の楽曲である「Hidden Shame」の序盤を録音しそびれてしまったこと。
とはいえ前作リリース時にも述べましたように、元々「COME BACK IN A MILLION YEARS」ツアーは当時立て続けにヒットしたワーナー時代二作のアルバムの曲をメイン・フィーチャーとした文字通り「攻め」のセットリストだったところにきて、この日はさらに録音されてすらいなかった新曲から幕を開けるという攻めの極み。
それに当時は新曲であったワーナー時代のアルバム、特に『MIGHTY LIKE A ROSE』収録曲も今やクラシックとなり、一方でほとんどの曲がステージで演奏されなくなってしまったとなれば、これほどの高音質でそれらの曲を愉しめるという至福。

それらの中でも極めつけは「Georgie And Her Rival」。『MIGHTY LIKE～』収録曲でありながら、それでいて91年のステージにおいてたった6回しか披露されなかったという曰くつきのレパートリー。実際に前作6月3日では演奏されていません。
おまけにそのアレンジが当時レパートリーから排除されていたアトラクションズ時代のクラシック「Oliver’s Army」そっくりな姿へと豹変しているから面白い。ルード5というバンドを従え、ワーナー二枚のアルバム収録曲メインで構成された時期ならではのレパートリーであると同時に、アルバムとはまるで違うアレンジに驚かされることでしょう。
あの衝撃の高音質ドキュメントだった前作をも凌ぐ完璧クオリティにて、今となっては貴重な時期と貴重なレパートリーをじっくりとお楽しみください。
