Elton John is attracting worldwide attention, with the bio-film “Rocketman” being released to the United States. Such is the very best soundboard album of 1971 that he first stepped on in Japan.
It is “October 11, 1971: Tokyo welfare pension society” that is stored in such this work. First, let’s check the show position from the date of the first visit to Japan, which is also a legend of Japanese western music history.

・ October 5: Shibuya Public Hall
・ October 6: Shibuya Public Hall
・ October 7: Osaka Kosei Pension Hall
・ October 8: Osaka Kosei Pension Hall
・ October 10: Tokyo welfare pension hall
・ October 11: Tokyo welfare pension hall [this work]

Above, all 6 performances. It was a schedule that 2 performances will be held in 2 cities and 3 venues. After the revisiting of Japan three years later, large venues such as Nippon Budokan and Tokyo Dome have become standard, but, like Elton, the first visit to Japan was still a medium-sized hall. The performance of the Tokyo welfare pension hall performance of this work was the concert which falls on the final day.
This work that was born from such a show is just the best with super. Although the sound source itself has been known before, this work is a master that has developed its highest peak, and it is a sound board sound source of the official grade without question. This master first appeared in our “MADMAN ACROSS THE OCEAN”, but its noiseless noise spreads its impact. From the special magazines of that time, “The design of this day was previously released with” 1971 FIRST VISIT “and other titles, but this version has a sound quality that is incomparably superior to that of the previous version” “Avoid for fans “I can not go through the sound source” and highly praised. The drumstick with the masterpiece of the first visit to Japan was pushed, and it reigned as a super masterpiece live album of 1971 worldwide.
In addition, this work brushed up the vertex master with the latest and meticulous mastering. From the original sound source to ultra-high-quality sound only “like a different thing” is not (that is, it is also a master that is ruined if you change it), but this work is focused on the details and is the ultimate. Scrutinize each range, thoroughly investigate all points, such as the goodness and balance of the omission of the performance sound and the beauty of the sound. The mid-bass, which was particularly dull in some places, became so bright that it brought out the full potential of the monumental first-to-Japanese soundboard.
It is the site of valuable first visit to Japan that is drawn with such extreme sound … No, it is a world heritage that shines more than that. The show consists of two parts, and Elton plays the narrative from “It’s Me That You Need” to the 6th song “Rotten Peaches” (strictly, Nigel Olson participates in chorus and tambourine in “Skyline Pigeon”) . Here Nigel and Dee Murray are introduced, and then the second part begins with the trio organization. And the contents are wonderful. Speaking of the early 70’s, there is also a traditional official work “17-11-70”, but this work is about one year later, and the set is also quite different. Not only “Rotated Peaches”, “Holiday Inn”, “Madman Across The Water” etc. have been shown as early as “MADMAN ACROSS THE WATER” that was one month before the release, and precious songs from the past works are also packed. The full version of the official film “17-11-70” itself was released in 2017, but you can not hear it there, “It’s Me That You Need” “Skyline Pigeon” “The King Must Die” “Come Down In Time” “Ballad Of A Well-Known Gun” “Friends” “Rock Me When He’s Gone” will be played one after another.
Moreover, it is not merely not “17-11-70”. “Rock Me When He’s Gone” was recorded in the “MADMAN ACROSS THE WATER” session and was unreleased at that time (Elton describes it as “a song from a new album,” but later I saw the eyes of the day “RARE MASTERS”) and “It’s Me That You Need” which was lit in Japan is a monumental number unique to Japan for the first time. In addition, the title song of the movie “Friends” and the cover of “Whole Lotta Shakin ‘Going On”, “Ballad Of A Well-Known Gun”, “Rotten Peaches”, etc. In recent years, they have been able to enjoy a lot of famous songs that they didn’t want in the official quality sound board (Conversely, it is also fresh in that there is no major “Levon” and “Tiny Dancer” of “MADMAN ACROSS THE WATER”, real-time Create a sense of time).

1971 when Elton and Japan met. This is a cultural heritage-grade live album where you can taste the monumental moments with the best soundboard. Moreover, it is not just a memorial for the first time in Japan, but a precious masterpiece that can not be heard even in “17-11-70” is a heap of world heritage sites. It is a decision board which raised the highest peak of such a sound board further. One more appropriate for “now” as the Japanese movie of “Rocketman” is approaching. Please enjoy it with perpetual preservation press 2CD carefully.

公式作『17-11-70』自体も2017年に完全版がリリースされましたが、そこでも聴けない「It’s Me That You Need」「Skyline Pigeon」「The King Must Die」「Come Down In Time」「Ballad Of A Well-Known Gun」「Friends」「Rock Me When He’s Gone」が次々と演奏されていくのです。
「Rock Me When He’s Gone」は『MADMAN ACROSS THE WATER』セッションで録音されながら当時は未発表だった曲(エルトンは「新作からの曲」と紹介しますが、日の目を見たのは後の『RARE MASTERS』)ですし、日本で火が付いた「It’s Me That You Need」は初来日ならではの記念碑的ナンバー。さらに映画『フレンズ』のタイトル曲やビッグ・メイベルのカバー「Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going On」、「Ballad Of A Well-Known Gun」「Rotten Peaches」等々など。
