Elton John overcame the new Corona Pandemic and resumed his retirement tour “FAREWELL YELLOW BRICK ROAD”. Introducing a live album where you can experience the latest stage at its best.
It is “June 24, 2022 Hyde Park performance” that is imbued with such a work. It is a transcendental audience recording when performing at one of the biggest festivals in the UK, “BRITISH SUMMER TIME”. “FAREWELL YELLOW BRICK ROAD” started in 2018 when Elton declared the curtain on his tour life. そんなショウを真空パックした本作は、まさに「超」付きの極上オーディエンス。とにかく芯が極太でゼロ距離。広大な喝采の海にオーディエンスらしさは感じるものの、肝心の演奏音やエルトンの歌声は「これ、最新の配信サウンドボードじゃないの？」と耳を疑うほど。音を反射する壁や天井のないハイドパークだけに、良い音になるとは予想していましたが、これほどとは……。
特にド肝を抜かれるのはリッチな重低音。いかに出音をダイレクトに拾う野外録音とは言っても、重低音は空間に吸い込まれて痩せてしまいがち。ところが本作の重低音はベースが五臓を揺らし、バスドラが六腑を蹴り上げるド迫力。もちろん、エルトンのショウですから重低音がドスドスと轟くバランスではないのですが、それでもヴァイヴがきめ細かくもぶ厚い。2022年の最新PAと録音機材は、「野外サウンド」と「サウンドボード」という真逆の環境を軽々と飛び越えてしまう。人類が積み重ねてきたテクノロジーそのものに畏怖を憶えるほどの衝撃サウンドなのです。
