This work was recorded at “September 11, 2016 Hyde Park Performance”, and it seems that it appeared at the BBC-sponsored summer festival “BBC RADIO 2 LIVE IN HYDE PARK”. This concert was broadcast on TV and has become a hot topic as “the best video of” WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT TOUR “”. This is the schedule of “WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT TOUR” that has been announced so far. The 2017 tour was announced the other day, and it may continue to increase. 本作が収録されたのは「2016年９月11日ハイドパーク公演」で、恒例となっているBBC主催の夏フェス“BBC RADIO 2 LIVE IN HYDE PARK”に出演した際の模様です。このコンサートはテレビ放送され、「“WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT TOUR”最高の映像」と大いに話題になっているもの。本作は、そのステレオ・サウンドボード・アルバムをディスク１・２に、プロショット映像をディスク３に配した３枚組です。まずは、今回のツアー概要からポジションを見てみましょう。

これが現在までに発表されている“WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT TOUR”の日程。先日、2017年ツアーが発表され、これからも増えていくかも知れません。現在69歳になるエルトンですが、なんとも力強い活動。いかにノッているかが日程からも分かります。本作は、その中でも「欧州ツアー#1」のラスト２公演目にあたるコンサートです。
当店では、これまでもギフト・タイトル『TEL AVIV 2016』『POMPEII 2016』といったサウンドボード・アルバムで“WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT TOUR”をレポートしてきましたが、今回は輪をかけて素晴らしいクオリティの逸品。ロック記録の大御所BBCによる最新プロショットだけあって、画質・音質・カメラワーク・演出……すべてがパーフェクト。完全に“オフィシャル級”と呼ぶしかない完璧ぶり。『TEL AVIV 2016』『POMPEII 2016』も素晴らしいサウンドではありましたが、やはりBBCが自ら主催するフェスだけに“格が違い”を見せつけられます。
そのクオリティで描かれるショウもまた、超一流の音楽エンターテインメント。おおよそは昨年の日本公演でも聴けた往年の名曲群がたっぷりと演奏されますが、その中に最新作『WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT』の「Looking Up」「A Good Heart」も披露。「Looking Up」は昨年ツアーでも一部の公演で演奏され、日本盤『WONDERFUL CRAZY NIGHT』のデラックスエディションでも聴けましたが、感動的なバラード「A Good Heart」も公式級サウンドで聴けるわけです。未だ衰えぬエルトンの作曲センスを見せつけるような新名曲がステージでの力強い歌声で綴られるのです。
さらに『TEL AVIV 2016』『POMPEII 2016』では窺い知れなかった“極上の光景”は、やはり圧巻。クリスタル・グラスのように輝きながら、ステージを色鮮やかに彩るライティング、曲のイメージを膨らませるスクリーン映像、時にシリアスに、時に微笑みながら歌うエルトンの表情、そして、そんなエルトンを迎える母国の大観衆。それこそ、繊細に鍵盤の上を踊る指の指紋さえも見えそうなほどの超極上・超鮮明な光景がたっぷりと観られるのです。
